ONCE THE PERFORMANCE WAS DONE ANITA PUT THE REST OF HER DRESS ON WITH THE HELP OF HER FRIENDS AND THEN MADE HER WAY BACK TO RYDER. She had saw him during her performance cheering for her and it just made her feel so much more for him. The fact he liked her singing, something she couldn't bring herself to do in front of others
"That was.. amazing. You were amazing" she smiled softly as he tugged her hand back out of the room and outside. Honestly she preferred speaking to him without the prying eyes of everyone else. Because those inside knew that it was Ryder she was speaking to and we're watching and judging every move
"Now I have to know who you are" he said with a smile and she let out a small laugh. But slowly her expression faded
"What if I'm not who you think I am?"
"Well I have no idea who you are-"
"No, I mean. What if I'm not what you're expecting. You probably want a rich girl, a girl who wears expensive clothes and skirts that barely cover. And- I'm- I'm not like that" Ryder turned his head
"It doesn't matter who you are, what you like or don't like. Okay? I feel something for you and that won't change because of something stupid like that" she nodded accepting his answer, their eyes not moving from each other
"I don't know how I could've ever misplaced a face like yours" he muttered and his face inched closer to hers until their lips were brushing, parted until he finally pressed his lips to hers
Anita felt her stomach erupt in butterflies as her hands moved up the side of his face. She couldn't say she hadn't imagined this moment before, but this one was so much better than she expected
They pulled away after a while and she stood there, not moving as his hands slowly reached up to her mask. She was ready to let it fall, to let him see underneath and who she was
But then the clock striked twelve
The ball was 45 minutes away from Anita's house, which meant to get home before prism they would've had to leave 15 minutes ago at least
She gasped quickly moving out of his hold
"Are you-"
"I have to go" she said abruptly and his eyes widened
"Now?"
"Yes. I'm so sorry and- I really got to go" she turned on her heel but Ryder quickly turned her back which her bracelet had fell into his hand. He went to go and hand it to her but she had already gone
Anita ran through the doors immediately finding alexis who was already waiting for her, knowing they were late and they scoured looking for Adam. Alexis drove them but Adam was getting a ride too and they couldn't leave him
They had met up again finding the place empty of him and then moved to another area together. But they didn't expect to see Adam making out with someone
It was caleb. One of Ryders friends and they knew that because both boys had their masks off
"Adam!" Alexis said gaining his attention, they hated to pull him away but they didn't want him stranded at the ball
"We have to go" Adam nodded fully moving away from caleb. But Caleb's expression was blank. He looked angry, and emotionless at the same time like his life just flashed before his eyes
Adam spared the boy one last glance before they basically ran out of the ball
"Hey!" They head a shout as they sat in alexis' car. It was Ryder and he was standing outside of the building they were in with his mask off
Alexis drove off, Anita's glance lingering on Ryder until he was not seen any later
Anita would be worried that he saw the car they were in and matched it at school but 1) she kind of wanted to tell him that it was her and 2) it was too dark to see the car fully, especially from where he was standing
"Well you two seemed to of had a great night" Adam and Anita both looked straight ahead shocked
"I kissed Ryder caddel"
"I kissed his bastard best friend caleb" they both turned to eachother, their expressions mirrored before they let off small smiles
Adam: "We're so fucked" he looked over at the time and gasped
"We've got 20 minutes to get there" he said and Anita nodded as she but her nails
"We're not gonna make it" she mumbled but alexis shook her head with a determined look on her face
"Yes we will" she stepped on the gas pedal and they immediately took off in a faster speed making them all hit their backs against the seat
They got to the house with no minutes to spare, thankfully there was no red lights stopping them
Once they pulled up around the back of Anitas house she could also see prism coming up to the house too in her limo
"Thank you so much guys!"
"It's no problem. We'll be in your hut waiting for you so we can catch up with our night" anita nodded as she jumped out of the car and shut it behind her
"Okay. I'll be there in ten. Prism just needs to see me home" they agreed and she took off running. She had unzipped her giant dress leaving her back in the smaller one and ran through the house with the rest of it in her friends car
She sped through the house and noticed prism walking through the front door
She cursed quietly and made a beeline for her room and just as the cleaners were exiting
"This way!" Anita whisper shouted and they rushed out in the direction she was pointing and out of the door there. Once they were gone she went back in prisms room and threw on one of her robes to cover her dress before sitting down and acting like she was scrubbing the floors
"It's actually clean in here.. why are you wearing my robe?!" Anita gulped and turned away from the fuming woman
"I'm sorry, i got cold"
"Well next time ask. I'll say no but still, and wash it 10 times before you give it back to me. Scram!" anita jumped and made her way out of the room which prism slammed behind her
"Let's hear about Caleb first" anita said as she sat cross legged on her bed that Alexis and Adam were already sitting on
"It's nothing really to tell"
"Come on" alexis and Anita groaned and Adam rolled his eyes
"After we all split up, I did my thing and went to the dance floor. And soon after caleb joined me. I didn't know it was him and vice versa and we spoke some more. Then i had to leave for a moment so you could go on stage, and once you finished I went back over to him. We spoke for a moment before we just ended up making out, our masks came off but I don't think either of us registered who we was kissing until we was interrupted" anita and alexis stared at Adam opened mouth but he just laughed
"But I didn't feel anything when I kissed him, it was nice but... there was nothing there"
"You don't always have that connection with someone" alexis shrugged
"But I didn't know Caleb was gay"
"I don't think anyone else does either, so this doesn't leave us" both of the girls agreed i'm not having to think twice about it. not just because Adam was their friend but because no one should be outed about their sexuality
Adam: "Okay. Alexis, tell us about your night and we can save the best till last" anita let off a small scoff but listened to alexis
"Well I i didn't mysteriously meet someone tonight. But you remember jacob?" Adam and Anita nodded. They had remebered alexis telling them about how she liked him
"Well yeah. We just spoke and caught up. I think he might ask me out soon"
"Yes!" The other 2 cheered and alexis laughed
"Now anita"
"I like him. He's really nice. We spoke the whole time, about our hobbies, what we want to do when we're older and he just listened and vice versa. It actually did make me see him as more. I know more about him and i know that I actually like him. And it was just confirmed when he kissed me" the three of them had smiles on their faces
"He just made me nervous, but in such a good way"
"So how did he feel when you told him it was you?" anita went quiet and glanced away and that's when her friends realised
"Oh my god!"
"You didn't tell him it was you!?" She winced at the noises and sat back
"It was an accident! I went to tell him but then the clocks went off and I realised I had to get home!" They all went quiet a moment as they pondered the night
Alexis: "Shit" anita moved her hand up to play with her bracelet, something she did when she was nervous, but when she did she was met with bare skin instead of her bracelet
She glanced down to her wrist in shock and gasped which made her friends look to her confused
"My bracelet" she whispered struck in shock
"It's gone. My moms bracelet is gone. I must've left it. But i can't go and get it because the building is shut now and I doubt we'll find it in that big place-"
"Anita! Hey! Snap out of it!" She looked up to Adam who was lightly slapping the side of her face
"We have school in 2 days. Okay? We can ask around for anyone who has seen a bracelet. We'll find it" anita nodded and took a deep breath
"Thank you" she murmured. A part of her know that she had lost it forever but the other part was wishing that someone had picked it up
