A Cinderella story - Chapter 9: Chapter 9

RYDER AND ANITA MADE THEIR WAY TO AN ICE CREAM SHOP AND SAT DOWN INSTEAD OF FINISHING THEIR LESSONS FOR THE DAY. THEY BOTH HAD GOOD GRADES SO THEY KNEW THAT BEING OFF the rest of the day wouldn't effect them
She had sent an 'SOS' message to her friends, telling them to come over later that day so she could share everything with them soon
"I'm so glad I finally found you, Reece and Caleb will be stoked" Anita looked down hearing the name and Ryder frowned at the expression
"Anita? What's wrong?"
"I have something to tell you" he nodded, motioning her to continue and she took a small breath in, finding comfort when he placed his hands in hers. It didn't feel forced or anything, more like he was meant to be beside her
"Caleb knew who I was. He has for a days now" his mouth parted for a second and his eyes hardered
"What? How? Why?"
"I went home a few days after you put out the posters and when I got there Cleo, Caleb and Destiny had found out it was me and threatened me to not tell you" she took the neckless off her neck and set it down on the table in front of them
"This is my mothers neckless. It's matches with the bracelet I lost at the ball. And they threatened me with it. That if I told you they would break it or whatever. I took it back, which is why I went to tell you in the parking lot" of course Anita left out the part where Caleb was locking lips with her friend because she didn't feel any relation, and besides, she wouldn't just out him no matter what
"Caleb knew this whole time?" Ryder scoffed and looked up to Anita
"I'm so sorry you was threatened with your mother's things"
"It's okay, I got them back"
"I can't believe he did this to me. We've known each other for years"
"I don't mean to come between you-"
"No. Anita, I'm gonna talk to him about it. Thank you for telling me, it's better to know I'm friends with someone that wants nothing to do with me" she nodded continuing to est her ice cream and continued the conversations with ryder until the day was over
"You and Ryder! Oh my gosh you and Ryder!" Anita held a finger to her lips but smiled with her friends who were buzzing with excitement with her
"So he knows everything?"
"Everything" she said with a sigh
"And it feels so good knowing there's no more lies, that everything's out in the open"
"Everything? Does he know that Caleb kept in from him"
"Yeah. I felt like he should know, he was pretty mad"
"I would be too. Is he going to talk to him?"
"Yeah, ryder said he will. I just want to know what his reasoning was for the whole thing"
THE NEXT DAY IN SCHOOL WHEN ANITA HAD WALKED OUT OF HER THIRD PERIOD, SHE WAS SHOCKED TO SEE RYDER STANDING OUTSIDE THERE WAITING FOR HER. No one knew yet that Anita was the Cinderella he had been looking for so they didn't find it too weird that ryder was talking to her
"Hey" he smiled as she noticed him and she repeated his words in return
"Do you mind if I sit with you at lunch today?" Anita had a feeling it was probably because of Caleb's lies so she agreed, not that she would've said no
"Of course, if you don't mind sitting on a normal people table" he let off a small laugh
"You're far from normal" they walked into and through the cafeteria, engrossed in a conversation made them not notice the stares they were getting from everyone around them
Eyes were drawn to the pair as ryder didn't sit on his usual table after getting his food and went to go to another one with Anita
Caleb's eyes drastically widened in shock as he took in the scene in front of him. He knew the truth must be out, or at least some of it
When they got to their table, Alexis and Adam looked up with small smirks
Alexis: "Look who's breaking the schools hierarchy" ryder rolled his eyes ever so slightly as a smile graced his lips and both him and Anita took a seat beside them
"I've always hated it anyways" he said making the three laugh. Their conversations continued and throughout the time Anita and ryder had both been telling alexis and Adam what had been going on and everything in more detail. It was mostly laughter and jokes between them until they finished their food and went outside. That's when caleb walked over with Reece
Caleb looked reluctant, and his face was mostly in disgust as he looked to the people who was hanging out with his best friend
Reece didn't mind all that much that his friend was hanging out with other people, he knew something was going on but he was patient enough to wait for ryder to tell him
Alexis and Adam walked away wanting to give them some privacy and Anita went to do the same but was instead told to stay by ryder who wanted her by his side
"Yo, ryder. You wanna go practice?" Ryder looked over to his friend with a blank expression
"Nah man, maybe later" caleb knew then that ryder must know everything but he didn't want to lose his bestfriend over a lie
"Come on, forget about this chick man. Let's just go-" caleb didn't get a chance to finish as Ryders fist met with his jaw. He dropped to the floor and ryder was knelt beside him once again and sent him another blow
"Woah woah!" Reece shouted and he grabbed ryder by the arms trying to lift him off but Ryder just shrugged him off. The sight caught the attention of everyone else in the ground and quickly everyone was cheering and screaming, urging the fight to continue
Anita had her eyes wide from shock and worry as she watched the two boys right in front of her
Caleb angrily looked up at ryder and swung his elbow which hit him in the jaw but ryder mostly seemed unfazed and punched him again
It almost felt like forever before 2 teachers rushed over and broke the pair a but even then they were still urging to go another round
The crowd started to disperse at the sight of teachers which gave them a chance to see who was really involved
"All of you, detention" Anita's jaw went slack as she heard the words exit the teachers mouth. She hadn't done anything, literally, she was just standing there
"What?" Reece questioned sounding as flabbergasted as how anita looked
"I was literally trying to break them up"
"Detention" the same teacher repeated and they both dragged the two boys to the library with Anita and Reece walking behind.
They had been taken to the library and for the first 30 minutes they just sat there, all sitting separately
But since the library was the common detention room it wasn't just the four of them there. There was another 6 or so students that were also participating in the torture event
And maybe it was the fact that Caleb had bruises on his face, but Anita thought he looked really upset
"Okay guys you're not just going to sit for an hour, there are racks and racks of books and I expect a good few to be completed by the time I return. Capiche? Capiche" the teacher announced before he stood up. He started packing away his things and once he was done he did a once over on the students present for detention
"You're going to go around in pairs" he looked down on his sheet and just read any names
"Ryder and Taylor. Reece and Matthew. Jessica and Tyler. Anita and Caleb. Anthony and Bailey" Ryder was beyond pissed that anita was going to be partnered with Caleb after what he did but no one was more worried or shocked than anita herself
The teacher left leaving them all and they started to get up. anita and Caleb silently made their way to their own crate of books and wheeled them around to put them away
It seemed to be going on in silence for anita and Caleb but she could tell that he was starting to get annoyed at something, a high indicator was when he harshly placed the book down back in the crate
"Where the hell do these go?" He grumbled angrily. Anita picked the one he was working on and cautiously walked beside him, before showing him the spine of the book
"You see the authors name?" She questioned softly not wanting to aggravate him
"All the rows have designated letters and the one that the authors name starts with, is where it goes" she looked up to him and he silently nodded indicating he understood
