The car ride was pretty silent... well except for Titus tapping on the steering wheel matching the beat of the song lowly playing from the radio. He seemed to be in a good mood especially with the events that happened just moments ago. After the news of his sister passing was told to his mother and everyone cried their hearts out he grabbed my hand and we left the hospital.
His mother of course stayed behind with Tony to view the body, she barely acknowledged us leaving.
"So what now?" I asked, pushing my glasses up. At first he didn't respond; still tapping and humming to the random song on the radio. "Titus?" I called again, this time louder.
"Hm? What's up?" He looked at me once we made it to a red light. It wasn't even that late but the streets were empty which made this care ride so much more eerie.
"What are we going to do now?" I repeated. He looked over at me with a huge grin on his face.
"How about we.... HAVE A GIANT KILLING SPREE?!" I jumped at the sudden sound of his voice.
"SHHH! What is wrong with you?! someone could hear us Titus." I stressed. Even though from the looks of it no one was around, but you can never be too sure in this small town.
"Huh? let them hear. LET THE WHOLE WORLD HEAR THAT I WANNA KILL OFF ALL THESE FUCKING PARASITES!" His voice echoed through the night which made me nervous. I was literally shaking. Like why would he yell that out loud especially since the police were out looking for who's killing everyone.
"P-please calm down Titus. please." He laughed in my face at that. I couldn't understand what was funny because this wasn't a funny situation. I place my hand over his mouth to stop his laughing and outrageous outburst. He froze for a second and raised his eyebrow curiously at me, cause me to do the same but in a more irritated manner than his curious one. "Are you- AH!"
I can't believe he BIT me. He actually bit me and it really hurts.
"Firstly, don't ever put your dirty hands on my mouth." He spit out the window like I had some kind of disease. "Secondly, there's no one on this whole road and then some. I'm free to say what I want. My hand still hurts so instead of responding I pout in the seat and itched my hand to ease the pain.
We ended up pulling back into his driveway. "What're we doing here?" I asked getting out the car
"Well my love there's some things that I need to get from here and things I need to do." He makes his way to the basement. Now that I think about it I've only been to his room and back, hell I didn't even know he had a basement. When he got to the door it had all types of locks on it.. possibly to keep something out.. or maybe to keep something in. brrr the thought of something scary being down there.
He gave his keys a little jiggle and cheesed at me. "Ready to see what's inside?" Do I even have a choice at this point. Instead of answering I just nodded my head. "Words."
"Yeah, sure." I squeaked out looking down. He nods and starts to unlock the locks. They were big and old with the noticeable rust around the key hole. Two of the eight locks were heavy so the sound of them hitting the wooden floor echoed through the empty house. When he got to the last lock he looked at me one more time before pushing the door open.
The smell that hit my nostrils was horrific. I've never, in all my years of living, have I smelled something so putrid and I used to go in the bathroom after my father. It smelled like something was decomposing. Titus grabbed my hand and pulled me down the stairs and I almost puked all over him and myself. I had to pull up my shirt to cover my nose and even that didn't help. I could taste it and it wasn't pleasant.
"It smells kinda bad down here doesn't it?" He chuckled Kind of?! is he serious right now. I couldn't respond just squeezed his hand. "I need you to put on these gloves."
"What gl-" He pushes a pair of black thick blacksmith gloves. Nodding my head I let him and my shirt. instant regret. putting on the gloves I realized they were too big for my small hands but I guess I'll have to make it work.
"We need to move these bodies and put all these 'tools' and shit out of here so we can go."
Go? what does he mean go? Where the hell are we going? and tools? bodies? how many are we talking about.
"Wait, wait a minute Titus. Go? Go where-" I was panicking and him not answering my questions made the situation worse. Titus let out a long sigh and dropped the container he was holding which emitted a loud thud. Through my blurred vision I saw his body walking calmly to mine and placed his hands on my cheeks.
"Jacob deep breaths okay? look at me and follow my breathing okay?" He took deep breathes and I was trying so hard to match him but it was so hard-- I was panicking too much, plus this room smells like utter shit. "Hey, don't focus on anything but my voice okay? Close your eyes and imagine its just me in you on a beach somewhere enjoying the sand between our toes and the sound of the water hitting the shore." Imagining us in such a calm place helped calm me down significantly.
"Are we going to a beach after this Titus?" I breathed out after a moment.
"Yeah we are." He whispered, placing his head against mine.
"You promise? Just me and you and no more of this?" I asked, looking into his eyes.
"I promise, just me and you." Smiling, I nod my head and gave him a small peck on the lips which he returned. " Okay now lets get to work. The sooner were done the sooner we can get out this stinky basement." With a determined nod I walked to where he was and helped gather the containers that were in a group by one of the walls.
"Where are we taking these?" I asked lifting the heavy box. Stuff moved around inside and it sounded like metal.
"Well these black containers we're taking to my car and getting rid of that later. The blue containers we'll put them in the living room and leave them and lastly, the bodies over there we'll put them...hmmm.. we'll put them in Sora's room." He laughed to himself.
"I- well.. okay." We worked pretty fast but I don't think we needed too since I'm sure his mother wont be leaving the hospital soon.
We were finally at the worst part; picking up the bodies. Don't get me wrong they were wrapped in garbage bags but that didn't hide the smell of their decomposing bodies. There were about five bodies in total and while lifting up the last one of their foot slipped out the bad and slid across my bare arm. That was it. That's what caused me to drop the body halfway up the stairs and vomit over the railing onto the basement floor. Titus cursed and continued to pull the bodies up the stairs.
when I was finally done vomiting I wiped my mouth and went up the stair to meet him. Turns out instead of taking the body upstairs with the rest he had it completely unwrapped sitting straight up... well as straight as a decomposing corpse can sit on his mothers couch.
"Why didn't you take it upstairs?" I asked walking over to lean my head on his large body. He wrapped his arms around my waste and gave me a quick kiss on my forehead.
"Well I wanted someone to have a front row seat to the show. I also wanted someone else to wait with." He grinned at the last sentence which made me look up at him with a confused look.
"Wait with? Who are we waiting for Titus?" He smiled and reached into his pants and pulled out a golden pistol and twirled it around in his hands, his fingers dangerously close to the trigger.
"The special guests silly." He gestured towards the front door which made me turn around towards the direction of the door.
"Special gue-"
"Titus honey are you home?" It was his mother.
