As Alicia's eyes fluttered open, the acrid scent of antiseptic assaulted her senses, followed by the blinding whiteness that surrounded her.
The slightest movement sent stabbing pain through her head and legs. Only then did she realize—she was still alive.
'Who saved me?' Alicia wondered.
Her eyes shifted weakly, and Alicia caught sight of a slender figure.
"Awake?" Georgia gave Alicia a brief, clinical glance before checking the bedside monitor.
"Was it... you who saved me?" Alicia whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Bella and I explore that area every week... You're now at the sanatorium, and your condition is stable," said Georgia.
"Thank you..." Alicia whispered faintly, her pale lips trembling for a long while.
As the words left her lips, two silent tears rolled down Alicia's cheeks for reasons even she couldn't explain.
Georgia replied calmly, "It was nothing, really. Don't mention it. Someone's trying to kill you?"
Alicia's eyes instantly flashed with hatred.
Georgia frowned. "I thought the Crawford family had already agreed to call off the hunt for you...?"
"No... not the Crawfords..." Alicia spat out bitterly, her voice weak but laced with venom.
Alicia spat out bitterly, "If I still don't realize by now that Caroline is the one trying to kill me, then I truly deserve to die."
She had only told Caroline about her last hideout, yet they still found her. So it was more than clear that Caroline betrayed her.
Observing the hatred in Alicia's eyes, Georgia remarked coolly, "This appears to be a premeditated attempt on your life. I strongly advise you to report it to the police."
Georgia replaced the IV bag above Alicia's head, her expression still impassive, and said, "I have other wards to check. If you need anything, press the call button."
With that, Georgia turned and walked out.
After being hunted down three times, Alicia saw Georgia about to leave and pleaded desperately, her voice trembling, "Don't go... please..."
Georgia paused and glanced back. "Something else?" she asked.
Alicia clutched at Georgia like a drowning woman grasping at a lifeline, her voice weak and trembling: "M-Miss Murray... please, save me..."
At this, a perfect, knowing smile played at the corners of Georgia's crimson lips.
Georgia never expected to bump into Colin at the sanatorium.
Colin explained, "My grandma isn't feeling well today, so I came to the sanatorium to look after grandpa."
Speaking of which, I really should thank you—not only for curing my grandpa, but also for helping Iris uncover the real culprit.
"To show my appreciation, how about I take you out to dinner after your shift?"
Meeting Colin's sincere gaze, Georgia answered with a calm smile, "Sure!"
"Sure!" Georgia replied.
To her surprise, Georgia noticed that, without his uniform, Colin's smile was as pure and bright as a spring morning.
"Has anyone ever told you how radiant your smile is?" Georgia couldn't help but murmur.
Colin's smile widened—that sunlit, doting smile, as if he could embrace the whole world.
After Georgia's shift, Colin was already waiting for her in his car at the sanatorium entrance.
Colin escorted Georgia to one of Journ City's most prestigious fine dining establishments.
Once seated, Colin inquired about Georgia's preferences before taking the initiative to order for them.
Georgia had to admit that Colin was truly gentlemanly. She'd expected him to give a lengthy speech of gratitude, but instead, he simply engaged her in casual small talk about everyday matters, as if they were old friends.
Being with Colin, Georgia felt completely at ease—there was no pressure at all, just a quiet sense of comfort.
Just as their entire meal had been served, Georgia spotted a couple entering the restaurant—the very last people she ever wanted to see.
Georgia cursed inwardly, 'Just my luck! I can't even go out for a meal without running into Louis and Gemma, that despicable pair!"
Colin noticed the shift in Georgia's expression, and before he could even turn around, a sickeningly sweet voice rang out:
