"Oh! Miss Murray..." Gemma said with a syrupy smile, "Oh, what an unexpected coincidence... I was just telling Louis how concerned I was that our engagement might upset you, Miss Murray. But seeing how quickly you've moved on from your past relationship, Louis and I can finally rest easy..."
Gemma's words carried a double meaning: to Louis, she was proving that Georgia had never truly cared about their marriage; to Colin, she was subtly portraying Georgia as a fickle, shameless opportunist.
Sure enough, after Gemma said that, Louis's already stormy gaze darkened even further with menace.
He lifted his gaze, his hawk-like eyes fixed on Georgia, as if demanding an explanation.
Georgia's face had been haunting his thoughts these past few days. Yet the moment he stepped out of the airport, there was Gemma, already waiting for him. She insisted on this restaurant to welcome him back—and now, of all places, he ran into Georgia here, on a date with Colin, a military-political elite.
Louis's eyes burned with such fury, his gaze so intense it could have drilled holes through that damned woman.
Colin had been about to rise in greeting, but after hearing Gemma's words, he deliberately settled back into his seat and, with calculated affection, served Georgia a piece of foie gras.
"Eat up," he said warmly. "You need to put on some weight."
Georgia offered a gentle smile, picked up the foie gras with her fork, and took a delicate bite.
At the table, Louis's face darkened, his fists clenching tighter and tighter. 'She kept saying she loved me, and now, barely after our divorce, she's already found someone new?'
At the table, Georgia and Colin continued chatting and laughing, their smiles radiant and unwavering, as if the pair standing nearby were utterly invisible to them.
Georgia's affectionate eyes sparkled with laughter as she chatted with Colin, but in one swift motion, her hand lifted the coffee cup from the table and flung its contents straight at Gemma.
"Ah! Georgia, what the hell are you doing?" Gemma shrieked, absolutely livid, as coffee drenched her from head to toe.
"Oh! My sincerest apologies," Georgia sneered. "With all these empty seats, what brings you two to stand right here?"
"Georgia... I was just worried about you and wanted to say hello," Gemma said, her eyes shimmering with crocodile tears. "Why must you always treat me this way?"
"Gemma, are we even close? Do you really think I need your concern? If you truly cared, you wouldn't have spent the last three years cozying up to Louis, fully aware he was a married man. You know what that makes you? A homewrecker—plain and simple."
Georgia's scathing remarks instantly drew a crowd of curious onlookers, all eager to witness the unfolding drama.
Gemma, who guarded her reputation fiercely, watched her face drain of color as Georgia so brazenly called her out.
"Louis… it's not like that…" Gemma stammered desperately, her voice trembling. "You know it's not! She's just slandering me… Louis and I have always maintained a completely proper relationship all these years…"
"Whether the two of you are 'pure' or not is none of my concern. Just stay the hell out of my life," Georgia said.
Watching Georgia and Colin's intimate exchange, Louis was already seeing red. But when he heard her so blatantly cutting all ties with him, the fury raging through him became completely uncontrollable.
He didn't even listen to Gemma's explanation. All he could think was that the woman before him had betrayed him. Fixing Georgia with an icy glare, he spat out,
Hearing this, before Georgia could react, Colin stood up and shielded her behind him. With a composed smile, he faced the livid Louis and said,
"Mr. Ex-Husband, I have no right to interfere with your marital infidelity. But if you think you can bully my Georgia for the sake of your new flame, just because you believe she has no one to back her up, then I'm afraid I can't stand idly by!"
