As soon as Cora brought it up, several wedding dress designers in the audience immediately started whispering among themselves.
"She's right! Those are definitely elements from 'Enamored'," some muttered.
"How absolutely shameless! Is Georgia really that desperate for fame?" another scoffed. "Of all people to copy, she chose a world-renowned master? That's professional suicide!"
"Exactly! Who does she think she is—a design prodigy? Turns out she's just a plagiarist," someone else chimed in.
"People like her don't deserve to be on this stage. Get the hell off! Get off the stage!" someone shouted angrily.
As chaos erupted in the venue, the host promptly announced,
"Ladies and gentlemen, please remain calm! Master Wendy is scheduled to arrive shortly. If there is indeed any plagiarism, she will undoubtedly address it herself. Our showcase continues—now, let's welcome Kirkland Corporation to present its bridal collection!"
Seizing the host's cue, Georgia, her father Vance, and the models quickly exited the stage. Immediately after, Kirkland Corporation presented its bridal collection designed by Cora.
This collection, named "Eternity," might have been a highlight at this year's Bridal Expo—if not for the comparison with Georgia's "Cocoon Break." But now, "Eternity" had been completely overshadowed, instantly outclassed by "Cocoon Break."
Comparisons were truly brutal!
On the other side, Vance quickly pulled Georgia out of the auditorium as soon as they stepped off the stage.
"Georgia," he urged, his voice tense, "tell me honestly—did you really plagiarize the 'Cocoon Break' collection? You have to be straight with your dad. Plagiarism is a cardinal sin in our industry—it could destroy your reputation forever."
Yet, Georgia smiled calmly, showing not a trace of anxiety or tension.
"Dad," she said, "take a good look at the design elements and concept behind 'Enamored'!"
Upon hearing this, Vance froze. Three years ago, when the "Enamored" collection debuted, it was exactly when his beloved wife, Elena, passed away. At the same time, Louis was crushing his business, and his daughter had become public enemy number one. But nothing devastated him more than losing the woman he loved. With his world collapsing around him from so many crushing blows, how could he possibly have paid any attention to international bridal trends back then?
Backstage, Cora roughly grabbed Evelyn, who was just about to head to the dressing room to change out of the wedding dress, and delivered a harsh slap across her already slightly red and swollen face.
As Evelyn's head snapped to the side, her hands clenched into fists in anger, but she quickly forced them to relax. As she turned back, she put on an ingratiating, fawning smile with practiced ease.
"Miss Murray, I hope that didn't hurt your precious hand?" she said in a calm tone.
"If there's nothing else, I should get back to my work as a waitress…"
With that, she turned and walked toward the dressing room, her posture small and submissive.
Watching her abject figure, Cora sneered contemptuously.
"What a pathetic mutt…" she spat.
Just as she turned around, she spotted Georgia walking in through the door. With a triumphant smirk, she strutted right over.
"Surprised I caught you plagiarizing, Georgia?" she sneered.
"Honestly, I'm almost impressed. Of all the people to copy, you just had to pick Wendy. Bet you didn't expect her to show up in person today, did you?" she mocked.
"Let's just hope you don't get exposed too quickly..." she added with a hint of mock sympathy.
As she turned away with a smug smile, Georgia's icy voice rang out,
"Right back at you, Cora."
Hearing this, Cora paused and glanced sideways. "What's Georgia playing at?" she wondered.
But she believed that Georgia was at her wits' end.
"Pathetic bluff!" she sneered.
With that, she turned on her heel and strode toward the auditorium, a smug smile lingering on her lips.
When Georgia arrived backstage, Evelyn had just changed back into her waitress uniform. Georgia couldn't help noticing that Evelyn's left cheek looked even more swollen and red than before.
