As soon as the call connected, Henry's anxious voice came through. "Hello, is this Ms. Murray? I'm Henry Wallace from Royal Dawn Sanatorium.
"I'm calling to inform you that we're officially appointing you as our attending physician."
Sitting beside her, Lila snatched the phone out of Georgia's hand as soon as she heard the news. "Yes, yes, of course! She'll definitely take the job. When can she start?"
Lila was so excited that she looked ridiculous. Georgia simply kept eating.
Lila continued answering, "Tomorrow? She can start tomorrow. That's perfect. Thank you, Director Wallace. She'll report on time."
After hanging up, Lila was still bubbling with excitement. "This is amazing. There's always a way out, Georgia."
Watching Georgia stay so calm and unbothered, Lila grew suspicious. "How are you this chill? Did you already know?"
Georgia took a sip of her soup and replied with a quiet expression, "I didn't know, but I figured."
Lila stared at Georgia's beautiful face. She thought, 'It really does seem like she has changed after everything that happened three years ago.'
Lila muttered to herself, "Well, at least now you're an attending physician."
Georgia wasn't who she used to be. Lila couldn't help but think back to how dazzling Georgia was three years ago, and now… she sighed, shaking her head.
Lila said, "Noelle used to be the top name at Royal Dawn Sanatorium. If she hadn't gone down, this opportunity never would've fallen into your lap."
"Speaking of Noelle, doesn't the whole thing feel like someone set her up?" Lila asked curiously, wondering who could've plotted everything so perfectly.
Lila froze, and her fork stopped just short of her mouth. She finally understood why Georgia had insisted on returning to the medical field half a month ago.
The way Georgia played with minds and power now was honestly impressive.
Georgia gently pushed the spoon to Lila's mouth, a faint, cold smile tugging at her lips. 'Back then, I used to be kind and innocent.
'But that innocence had only earned me a brutal fall into the mud.'
Lila said, "Good. At least now I don't have to worry about anyone bullying you anymore."
Georgia's lips curved. But she wanted far more than just not being bullied. She wanted revenge. Every single person who owed her was going to pay, one by one.
In fact, Georgia's goal had never been just to return to her old job.
After all, Gemma had been deep-rooted at Saylor Hospital for years, backed by Louis and Samuel. Trying to shake Gemma's position was impossible.
Georgia knew that even if she struck back successfully, she'd still get kicked out of Saylor. So she had to find herself a stronger landing place.
That's when Georgia ran into Phillip. And just then, Noelle happened to walk into her trap first. So naturally, her target became Royal Dawn Sanatorium.
"By the way, you said you wanted to start a business?" Lila asked, changing the subject.
Georgia replied, "The work at Royal Dawn Sanatorium is way too easy. So I thought I'd do something else on the side. Since I don't have much money, I'll start small with a studio."
Lila nodded in agreement. "If you're short on funds, I've still got—"
"Lila, opening a studio doesn't cost much," Georgia cut her off.
Lila: "Okay! But if you need more money, you better tell me. So what's the studio going to do?"
"Wedding dress design," Georgia said.
The moment she said that, Lila spat out a mouthful of soup. Georgia quickly handed her a tissue.
Lila wiped her mouth, wide-eyed. "Georgia, are you nuts? Everyone knows the Kirkland Group and Murray Group already monopolized the entire wedding fashion business.
"Isn't this you basically throwing down the gauntlet at the Kirkland family?"
Exactly. Her dad had said the same thing when Georgia brought it up.
Georgia explained, "I'm just doing what people always say—get back up where you fell."
Lila sighed helplessly. "Fine. As long as that's what you want."
Lila had to admit, Georgia was brilliant with medicine and had grown shrewd too. But openly challenging the Murray Group like this still felt like suicide.
