Georgia took a deep breath, steeling herself before heading to meet Samuel.
The second she stepped into the Krylin Hotel, the receptionist flashed a knowing smile and slid a key card across the counter. "Mr. Maxwell said you can go right up, Ms. Murray."
Ignoring the side-eye, Georgia strode to Room 416.
She knocked, got no answer, and swiped the card to enter.
The room was empty. She was about to bounce when a smooth, cocky voice echoed from the bathroom, "Yo, toss me a towel, yeah?"
'This guy's seriously chilling in the tub?' she thought.
With an eye roll, Georgia grabbed a towel from the closet, cracked the bathroom door, flung it in, and sank onto the sofa to wait.
Minutes later, Samuel sauntered out, towel low on his hips, shaking out his wet hair.
"Heard you're trying to claw your way back to your old job?" he said, smirking as he gave her a once-over.
Georgia lounged on the sofa, cool, confident, with a spark of fire.
Samuel raised a brow, his tone dripping with shade. "Look, you might've been a big deal in medicine back in the day, but three years out, a bum wrist, and your… messy rep? Good luck staging a comeback."
Georgia flashed a bold grin, locking eyes with him. "Wanna bet? That's why I'm here."
Samuel chuckled, sharp and mocking. "You, fighting for a caretaker gig with a bunch of old-school nurses? Seems like a waste of that whole vibe you've got, Jiang."
He ditched the towel, leaned in close, hands on the sofa arms, voice low. "Forget that noise. Why not be my girl?"
Samuel ditched the towel, planting his hands on the sofa, trapping Georgia between them. His sly grin spelled trouble as he leaned in close. He'd been chasing her for months, ever since that night they shared a bed. He'd held back then—she was still Mrs. Rothbone, off-limits.
Not anymore. The woman in front of him was free, cast off by Louis.
Georgia's smile sharpened as she nudged his arm away, eyes glinting with disdain. "Word is, you swap women like socks—except for your precious Gemma."
She leaned closer, voice low and daring. "How about a deal? Get me that caretaker interview. In twenty days, I'll own the medical scene again."
Samuel snorted. 'Twenty days? She's dreaming.'
"Why should I bite?" he said.
She tilted her head, fingers brushing his neck, voice sultry. "'Cause you want me, don't you? Give me twenty days. If I flop, I'm yours—no strings."
Her words lit a fire in Samuel, the guy who never turned down a good time. "Hell yeah, you're on."
She was a vixen, handing herself over. No way he'd pass that up.
Georgia's eyes blazed with determination. 'I'm back, medical world. Those snakes who stomped me into the ground? They'll never see my comeback coming.'
Georgia didn't know the hospital's big screen outside was airing pure scandal.
A sexy woman—her—looped her arms around a guy's neck, purring, "I'm yours—no strings…"
Louis stood like stone, eyes locked on the screen, fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white.
"Louis," a soft voice cut in, "maybe Georgia's got reasons. Talk to her."
After a tense silence, Louis snapped, "Daniel, get the divorce papers to Georgia at the Krylin Hotel."
Gemma's smile was smug. She'd waited too damn long for this.
Georgia was clueless about the drama outside. She rushed into the hotel lobby, spotting Louis's assistant, Daniel, waiting in the lounge. He stood as she approached, all polite and professional.
"Ms. Murray, this is from the boss. Please take it." He handed her divorce papers.
Georgia's mind blanked. Louis had already cut her loose.
She'd been a fool, thinking she had time to prepare. She'd known this was coming, but the pain still hit like a truck.
"Ms. Murray," Daniel said, "there's a villa and cash—"
She forced a tight smile, choking back tears. No way she'd lose her last scrap of pride. "Keep it. I don't want his money."
She grabbed the papers and walked out, each step heavy. She and Louis were done—strangers now.
Outside, tears spilled free. Her phone buzzed—her dad, Vance.
"Georgia, I never meddled in your love life," he said, voice heavy. "That Rathbone guy hurt you bad, but don't throw yourself away to get even."
Georgia frowned. "Dad, what's going on?"
A long sigh. "I couldn't stop you marrying that Rathbone kid. But now? I'd rather die than let you tangle with a sleaze like Samuel."
The call ended. Georgia checked her phone, heart sinking. Trending at number one: [Ex-Mrs. Rathbone Caught Cheating, Dumped, Begging to Be a Sidepiece!]
The video showed her entering the hotel, then her arms around Samuel's neck, edited to look like she was kissing him, her voice dubbed, "I'm yours—no strings…"
'Samuel did it.' Rage burned through her, nails digging into her palms.
