Seeing Alicia act so chummy, Iris retorted bluntly, "Who said you could call me that? We're not that close. And who is in police custody? Do you have any proof?"
Though inwardly seething with hatred after being rebuffed, Alicia maintained a charming smile.
"What more proof do you need?" she pressed. "The croissant sandwich you ordered was only ever handled by Georgia. If it wasn't her, then who else could it be?"
Sitting on the sofa, Colin shot Alicia a cold glance. This woman's tongue truly was the deadliest blade in the world.
Seeing that the Crawford siblings no longer contradicted her, Alicia grew even more smug:
"You have no idea! Back when Professor Caroline and I were working under Georgia, we slaved away for her day and night. But as our boss, she constantly undermined both me and Professor Hutchinson. And to top it all off, she even tried to steal credit for Professor Hutchinson's report on Targeted Radiotherapy Drug for Cancer."
Iris shot Alicia an exasperated look and snapped, "Let's not go making baseless accusations without any real proof!"
Never expecting that the willful daughter of the Crawford family would actually stand up for Georgia, Alicia sighed with feigned resignation.
"Miss Crawford, you really are just too kind for your own good!"
When Caroline and Simon heard that Iris had regained consciousness, they rushed over immediately, only to find that Alicia had already arrived before them.
When they entered the hospital room, Alicia was already seated by the bedside.
Caroline shot Alicia an exasperated glare. 'That insidious, shameless bitch!'
Caroline forced a polite smile and exchanged pleasantries with the Crawford siblings, though inwardly she was cursing Alicia for worming her way in again.
At the police station, Meridith lounged back in her chair, eyeing Georgia across the table and asked nonchalantly, "So, is it time to spring the trap?"
After spending the night at the police station, Georgia looked weary but still composed.
"Send the video footage to Miss Crawford," she ordered.
"Got it!"
The hospital room was now bustling with prominent figures who had attended yesterday's event.
Just as Iris was about to dismiss everyone, a courier suddenly arrived with a USB drive.
"Miss Crawford, this is for you. The courier said it contains the truth you've been seeking."
Hearing this, Colin took the USB drive and immediately fired up his laptop.
A sudden sense of dread washed over Alicia as she saw the unexpected USB drive. Quickly forcing a smile, she asked, "Mr. Crawford, what's this?"
Colin didn't even bother answering Alicia. He couldn't care less about the woman.
To everyone's shock, the USB drive contained none other than footage from yesterday's auction.
Alicia felt as if her world came crashing down around her.
After a wave of dizziness, Alicia stammered, her voice trembling, "B... but... weren't we told... the auction was a classified government project, and no surveillance allowed?"
"Thank goodness for this surveillance footage. Otherwise, how else would I ever find out who dared to poison me? I can't wait to see who's got the guts to mess with me!"
Though Iris's face was angelic, to Alicia's terrified eyes, she might as well have been the devil incarnate.
Alicia was just a nobody with no status or backing. If the Crawford family confronted her with the evidence, she was done for.
Alicia's legs gave way, nearly sending her crashing to the floor.
The footage showed Georgia stepping out to collect a food delivery, returning with two croissant sandwich boxes which she placed on the table before leaving again to take a call. Seizing the opportunity, Alicia crept over to the food, cast a furtive glance around, then swiftly sprinkled white powder into one container before darting backstage—all in one fluid, practiced motion.
By the time the video reached this point, Alicia's face had turned ashen. Overwhelmed, her legs finally gave way and she collapsed to the floor.
"Wait, it was her who poisoned Miss Crawford?" A member of the organizing committee in the ward couldn't hold back and blurted out.
"She was just insisting it was Georgia who did the poisoning, right? The thief cries 'Thief!'"
