Miriam had planned not to drink today, but after hearing Edward's apology, she grabbed an empty glass, poured herself some alcohol, and downed it in one go.
"You didn't do anything wrong to me. I just don't like being tricked into thinking you're sick. If you don't want to hang out with me, just say it. Don't lie to me!" exclaimed Miriam.
Miriam had eagerly rushed to take care of Edward, believing he was sick, only to discover he had been pretending the entire time. The realization left her feeling utterly betrayed.
"I'm sorry," Edward said, raising a glass and downing it in one swift motion. "Please forgive me." Without hesitation, he picked up another glass and emptied it just as quickly.
Benny held his forehead. "Teresa, you'll have to drive us all back later since you're the only one who hasn't been drinking."
In the end, Benny's family driver arrived to pick him up. Benny lived at Gerton Residence, a location that was far out of the way for Teresa and the others.
Teresa drove with Jonathan beside her, while Edward and Miriam, both clearly drunk, sat in the backseat. Miriam's head rested on Edward's shoulder, and his head leaned toward hers. Teresa couldn't help but grin, picturing Miriam's reaction when she sobered up and saw the scene.
Jonathan kept coughing, and Teresa noticed his face had a slight flush, tinged with a pale hue. "Are you running a fever?" she asked.
"I'm not sure." Jonathan narrowed his eyes slightly as he stared at the flickering lights ahead. "Just head toward Hork Road. Avoid Riverbuss Road; it's under construction and closed at night."
"How do you know it's under construction?" Teresa glanced at him.
"How could I not know about a project I developed?" Jonathan coughed a few more times, clearly unwell. As she drove, Teresa reached over and handed him a tissue.
"I thought you were busy with business overseas and wouldn't pay much attention to Nareigh's matters," said Teresa.
"I'm managing both international and domestic projects. It's exhausting working in this role. You wouldn't understand," he said, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back to rest his head against the seat.
Teresa wanted to retort, "What do you mean I wouldn't understand?" But seeing Jonathan with his eyes closed, resting, she decided to hold her tongue. First, she dropped Miriam off, then drove Jonathan and Edward to Luviston Estates.
Edward was intoxicated, and Jonathan assisted him inside. Teresa offered to help, but Jonathan refused.
Teresa opened the door, and Jonathan quickly tossed Edward onto the bed in the guest room. Exhausted, he then collapsed onto the large bed in the master bedroom.
Teresa walked over to the drawer beneath the TV, retrieved the thermometer, and handed it to Jonathan.
His complexion looked off, indicating a fever. It wasn't surprising, considering he had been caught in the rain, had been drinking, and was completely drained from work.
After about three minutes, Teresa removed the thermometer from under Jonathan's arm. It read 101 degrees Fahrenheit. "You have a fever. Take some medicine and get some rest." She turned to fetch him some medicine and water.
"I'm cold," Jonathan murmured, wrapped in a blanket with only his head visible. "Could you get me another blanket?"
Teresa searched for an extra blanket but couldn't find one. Spotting Edward's blanket, she decided to use it for now, planning to find something else to cover him with later.
"I-It's freezing..." Edward mumbled, sneezing as he curled into a ball. However, Teresa didn't hear him; she was preoccupied tucking two blankets snugly over Jonathan.
Seated at the bedside, Teresa found herself gazing at Jonathan's handsome face. His thick, charming eyebrows were slightly furrowed, betraying his discomfort. She reached out and touched his forehead, which was still burning hot. A flicker of concern flashed in her eyes.
