Cheryl's gaze shifted to Werner, who didn't bat an eye. "Your car is in production," he said. "Didn't you want a pink one? That'll have to be custom-made."
Cheryl thought for a moment and said, "Then forget the pink one. I can just get a car wrap for myself later. White is fine for me."
Werner sighed. "The order's already placed. We can't alter it now. You'll just have to wait a while longer."
Cathy slammed her fork onto the table the instant Werner finished speaking. "I'm feeling a bit stifled. I need to step outside for some air," Cathy said flatly.
Cheryl looked utterly bewildered. Donald was still busy in the kitchen. She walked over and asked, "Donald, what on earth is going on with Mom and Dad? They're acting kind of weird, don't you think?"
Donald replied, "They're perfectly fine, nothing's going on between them."
"Oh really? Maybe I'm just overthinking it then."
"Hey, how's work treating you these days?" Donald deftly changed the subject, turning to Cheryl.
"Pretty good," Cheryl said. "With the training allowance included, I'm making about six thousand a month."
Donald smiled. "You're making great progress. Keep up the good work. Have you thought about opening an art studio someday? You're so talented at painting, and it's definitely worth considering."
"Let me save up a bit more first," Cheryl said with a smile.
"Donald!" Werner called out from the living room. "Come join me for a drink."
Meanwhile, at Horizonlead Group. Just as Jonathan wrapped up his meeting, his housekeeper called with urgent news that Irene just booked a flight to Shaville.
Jonathan frowned. "When did she leave?"
The housekeeper replied, "She left this morning."
Jonathan replied calmly, "Got it."
After hanging up, Jonathan sank into the sofa and rubbed his temples. Given Irene's usual reluctance to travel far, he knew exactly who she had gone to Shaville to find.
Knowing Irene, she wouldn't do anything extreme to someone on their deathbed. She was probably just trying to confirm if Liora had cancer.
Jonathan suspected Irene was hiding more about her history with Liora and his father than she'd revealed.
Just then, Benny walked in. He handed Jonathan a document.
"What's this?" Jonathan took the file and began flipping through it.
"Your aunt came to my law firm to ask about getting a divorce."
"My aunt?"
"Donald's mom—Cathy. I was away on business for a few days, so I didn't know about any of this. When I got back yesterday, my staff showed me the recent consultation cases, and that's when I found out your uncle had been having an affair."
"Cathy is preparing to file for divorce. And coincidentally, the lawyer she consulted is actually someone I personally trained."
Jonathan's face grew grim as he handed the file to Benny. "Benny, as a top lawyer, showing me your client's personal details, isn't that a breach of client confidentiality?"
"Come on, these are Werner and Cathy we're talking about. You wouldn't really rat me out, would you? My staff said Cathy's been a total wreck, desperately searching for proof of Werner's affair, but so far, she's come up empty."
Jonathan leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes wearily. "By all accounts, Werner isn't that kind of person."
But at that moment, even Jonathan couldn't be so sure. Except for a select few he truly trusted, Jonathan no longer dared to claim he could see through everyone.
Benny took a sip of the coffee on the table and said slowly, "Werner has already started moving his assets. Honestly, it's almost certain that Donald and little Cheryl have no idea about this."
Jonathan opened his eyes, picked up his cup, and took a sip of coffee. He said, "Cheryl isn't even married yet. Werner has always doted on her, and he wouldn't go that far."
