The long night finally came to an end. Until the first light of dawn broke, heralding a new beginning. The Nareigh International Airport was bustling with travelers in the early morning. Teresa checked the time as she stepped off the plane—7:40 AM.
Teresa took a taxi straight to Nareigh General Hospital. Jennifer hadn't started her shift yet. After another sleepless night, she sat in a chair, massaging her throbbing temples, trying to get a bit of rest.
The door swung open. Jennifer opened her eyes, thinking it was Lucia barging in without knocking again. She was about to scold her—only to see Teresa standing there, suitcase in tow, fixing her with an angry stare.
Jennifer froze, staring in disbelief. "What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to—"
Teresa cut her off, saying, "Wasn't I supposed to be in Gorthany by now? So how come I'm back—is that what you're going to say?"
Jennifer's brow furrowed—Teresa was supposed to have left for Gorthany yesterday. The very next second, a forged breast cancer test report was slammed into Jennifer's chest with such force that it left her skin stinging.
"Mom told me everything. You told her I was in trouble in Nareigh and needed to leave for Gorthany to see her.
"Then you lied to her, saying I refused to go, so you made her fake an illness to trick me into coming right away.
"As a gynecologist, forging a report comes so easily to you, doesn't it? You want me to leave so you played us both!"
Jennifer hadn't expected Evelyn to sell her out. She tried to explain, "I just wanted you to take some time to cool down and not act so rashly."
"So, you'd fake Mom's illness just to trick me?"
Yesterday, after Evelyn called saying her test results showed an issue and sent the report to Teresa, the result of "breast cancer" left Teresa momentarily blank.
Without a second thought, she immediately booked a flight to Gorthany. Before leaving, she dropped Michael off at Miriam's place.
As soon as Teresa got off the plane, Miriam called her and said, "Teresa, something's off about that medical report of your mom's you sent me. The hospital name at the bottom is the same as the one where Jennifer works."
When Teresa left, she'd been in such a rush that she hadn't even checked the hospital's name.
Only after hearing Miriam's words did she notice "Nareigh General Hospital" printed at the very bottom—and the doctor's signature, scrawled in a suspiciously familiar hand, looked just like Jennifer's handwriting.
Teresa stormed over to Evelyn and asked her if this report was real or fake. When she realized that Teresa had found out, Evelyn quickly came clean.
