FALLON
Lucius's cottage was so warm I never wanted to leave. As soon as I stepped inside an influx of heat hit me and it was an odd thing to feel jealous of a house just because it was warm inside. It was also quite empty too. It was one story but very spacious and immediately to the right of the door was a moderately sized living room with a couch and tv that I doubt he even used. The kitchen was connected to the living room and a cute little breakfast nook sat in the corner underneath a window. His room was all the way in the back and the entire time I was in there as I waited for him to heat up the shower I was dizzy with want. The smell of him and the knowledge that he was only a few feet away from me made my head spin.
After my shower Lucius instructed me to sit at the breakfast nook while he fixed some tea. It was funny to watch him as he moved around in the small kitchen. He was too tall for the counters and had to awkwardly bend over in order to prepare our cups. His kitchen was very empty and plain. He had a handful of utensils and dishes which I guess was normal for him considering his diet consisted of blood and nothing else. There were no decorations either, my mother was a big fan of hens and roosters for some reason so they were on everything in our kitchen. The towels, the jars, the plates. She had it bad. But Lucius had nothing of the sort, no pictures either and I thought it was weird because didn't he at least have friends? But who was I to judge, I had no friends either and it was partly by choice.
A mug full of steaming hot tea slammed down in front of me, I looked up just in time to see Lucius sit across from me at the table, his own mug in hand. He took a long and thoughtful sip before nodding his head towards me and placing the cup down.
"Tell me what you know Fallon, and I'll try my best to fill in any blanks." I drank some tea to stop myself from groaning at the sound of my name. How much longer was I going to feel like this?
"I know that we're...soulmates. And that my body rejects the touch of others and only accepts yours." He smirked at this and I rolled my eyes. "Don't get cocky, if it was up to me I'd tell my body to reject your touch as well." He scoffed and looked away before bringing his cup up to his lips to hide his frown.
"My mother is a witch and my father is a werewolf which is why his senses are so keen. I didn't inherit any of their genes so I am 100% human, I think that's why they don't want me with you and my father really emphasized the point of rejecting you. He said something about vampires being violent." I muttered. Lucius perked up at this, a small grin eating away at his lips.
"Ah well, do you plan on rejecting me then, Fallon?" It was my turn to hide my face away in my mug and direct my attention somewhere else. My cheeks heated up a bit and I was so glad they didn't show any color when I blushed. "Not yet," I murmured while sipping my tea.
"I had thoughts of rejecting you too don't flatter yourself, but that is neither here nor there. Your parents are correct for the most part, I'm a vampire, have been for a while. And even though the smell of your blood makes me do irrational things, drinking from you is not one of those things." I stared curiously at him.
"And why is that?" Lucius sighed and pushed his mug aside, seemingly done with the contents inside. He leaned forward on the table, his forearms bracing himself and keeping his body from toppling over.
"Because we are bloodmates Fallon, made for each other like soulmates but bonded together in ways only bloodmates can be. It's more than just what you feel when we touch, I feel what emotions you're feeling every second of the day, I can feel when others touch you; that's how I knew you were hurt, I felt a phantom touch on my wrist and a dull burning sensation. I can also more or less decipher the intentions behind the touch based on your emotions. You're human so these aspects of the bond don't affect you. But they affect me, and drinking your blood will only magnify them since technically you'll be apart of me." I huffed and shifted in my chair. I wasn't looking at Lucius but I knew he was looking at me based on the tingling feeling I felt on my entire face.
I didn't know he could feel my emotions. They had been all over the place recently because of everything happening at home and I didn't know what to do with them. Hiding away in my room and curling into a ball was what I did most of the time but now that I knew that he knew I regularly wallowed in a pit of my own sadness, I was embarrassed and would definitely not be doing that anymore. The physical touch thing is weird too. I wanted to believe that he was lying but his threat on my father proved otherwise. A part of me wanted to test how strong it was but that meant I would have to rile my father up and I knew better than to stir an already simmering pot.
"So you won't reject me but you won't drink my blood either?" Lucius nodded and returned to his original position in his chair away from me and I silently cheered in my head because him being that close made my thoughts messy and unorganized.
"Nope," He drawled, popping the "p" at the end. I crossed my arms and rose a brow.
"Okay so what? You're just gonna keep following me around town and having unplanned rendezvous in the woods?"
"I'm not sure anymore. The original plan was to only meet you once, and that was at your job. I enjoy my life alone, I get to travel the world and do what I want when I want. I don't want to be tied down to one person for the rest of their life and drink only their blood." I couldn't help the flash of hurt I felt upon hearing his words. There were a ton of reasons why we would never work and I wasn't sure what my intentions were with him either, it was too early in our relationship to tell. But under different circumstances, I could see myself pursuing him in due time. The fact that he didn't see himself pursuing me, his literal other half who was bonded to him for life, hurt just a tad.
"Get that look off of your face, Fallon, I wasn't finished," I cursed myself for letting my feelings show on my face but I quickly waved that away because it didn't matter if I wore my heart on my sleeve or not, he would always be able to feel what I was feeling.
"The longer I stayed in Melrose the stronger our bond grew because I was so close to you. I tried hard to ignore it but the pull and the smell of your fucking blood made it impossible. My body wants you whether I like it or not, I'm just not really sold on the idea of giving myself to you completely." My face soured and I clicked my tongue against the back of my teeth.
"Of course I get stuck with the vampire who has commitment issues and is scared of relationships. Just my fucking luck." Lucius frowned at this and now it was my turn to smirk.
"I'm not scared of shit. You're a human who's been lied to all of her life so I'm not surprised you don't understand anything about what it means to be bloodmates with someone. After I drink your blood, I will be connected to you forever. I won't want anyone else's blood but yours and your body will produce more blood just to satiate my thirst. Are you ready for that Fallon? Are you ready to give yourself to me completely too?" I was quiet. I wasn't ready to do any of that, magical touches be dammed.
"Exactly, that's what I thought." I kissed my teeth in annoyance.
"Don't get flip, I'm only quiet because I was thinking. This was an information overload, I'm done for the day." I stood up from the table and headed towards the door where my jacket hung on a hook right next to it. I plucked it off and shoved my arms through the sleeves before bending down and slipping on my converse. I heard Lucius sneak up behind me.
"Fallon," He whispered my name like it was a spell. I turned around only to be face to face with him. His scent consumed me but I was too irritated to care.
"What?" I whispered back. He stepped closer to me and I knew that the only reason he wasn't touching me right now was because the threat of my father loomed heavy over us.
"I wish I could touch you right now, but for obvious reasons I won't. Don't worry about the smell of my house either, it doesn't have a scent that your father can catch on to. Be safe going home, yeah?" He backed me up until my back hit the door and I quickly straightened up off of it not liking where this was going. He laughed through his nose before reaching behind me and opening the door. I stepped backwards out of the threshold and the last thing I saw before he closed the door were endless blue eyes.
Fuck.
