Kirsten’s POV
“As long as she’s still alive, you can do whatever you want to her.
“I only want one thing—every single thing she once did to Chantelle, repay it a hundredfold.
“Starting today, she will kneel a hundred times a day to atone for her sins. She’s only allowed to drink boiling soup and water.
“Until we find Chantelle, I want that manipulative woman to live a life worse than death.”
When Lachlan finished speaking, I collapsed to the floor in disbelief.
I never thought he’d actually dig everything up from the past. I didn’t expect him to investigate it all over again.
And what stunned me most—was that after losing Chantelle, he’d turn this ruthless… toward me.
‘But hold on. Back then, when Chantelle was still around—wasn’t he the one who laid hands on her first?’
That thought made something inside me snap.
I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“You allowed it back then, didn’t you?!” I shouted. “You knew what I was doing, and you never stopped me!”
My voice cracked as I took a shaky step forward. “I don’t believe for one second that you were that clueless!”
I pointed at him, my hands trembling. “And you—you said you didn’t love her anymore! Everything I did, I did for you!”
Tears welled in my eyes, hot and stinging. I tried to control my voice, but it kept rising.
“We have three children together, Locke! Three!” I cried, almost pleading now. “If you treat me like this, what are you going to tell them?”
I stepped closer, grabbing onto his arm like I could still reach him somehow. “Please—for the kids—just forgive me.”
“You promised you’d marry me,” I whispered. “You promised I’d be your wife…”
I shouted frantically, desperately trying to use the children to win him back.
But he looked at me like I was a joke. A small, bitter laugh escaped his lips as he finally met my gaze.
“Who told you I didn’t love Chantelle? She’s the only woman I’ve ever truly loved in this lifetime.”
He pointed at me. “You? You were just a distraction, something to kill time with. And you had the nerve to lay a hand on my wife?”
“But thanks for the reminder,” he added, his voice dropping to a dangerous low. “A woman as shameless as you… who even knows if those twins are mine?”
My heart dropped.
Lachlan turned to his assistant and snapped, “Take the twins to the hospital. I want a DNA test. I need to know whether they’re even my children.”
The words hit me like a truck. I froze. My mind went blank for a second. ‘He can’t find out—can he? Is he bluffing?’
‘But the truth is… those twins aren’t his.’
‘And even before he knows that, he’s already treating me like I was dirt.’
‘If he actually finds out…’
My whole body started shaking. I could barely breathe.
Then I saw his assistant step forward to carry out Lachlan’s order, and something in me broke.
“No!” I shouted, throwing myself at him. I grabbed his arm with both hands, refusing to let go. “Locke, please! They are your children!”
I looked up at him desperately, my eyes wide with panic. “There’s no need for a test! You know me—how could I ever do something like that?!”
I pointed toward the hallway, my voice cracking. “Just look at them! They look exactly like you! How could they not be yours?!”
Lachlan’s POV
Kirsten was rambling now, completely hysterical with fear.
At first, I’d only meant to stop her from using the twins as leverage. But as I looked at her face—watched how fast her expression fell—I realized something wasn’t right.
‘That panic… it’s not just an act.’
Slowly, a sharp sneer crept across my face.
‘After all these years in the business world—after never once falling for a scam—I ended up being played by her.’
The realization made my stomach turn.
I laughed, low and bitter. “Wow, Kirsten. Impressive,” I said, my voice laced with fury. “You actually managed to pin someone else’s kids on me.”
I stepped closer, eyes narrowed. “You fooled me all these years… I didn’t realize how bold you really are.”
My tone stayed level, but my eyes—ice-cold and full of revenge—must’ve told her everything.
She flinched, then quickly forced a weak smile.
“Locke, you’ve misunderstood,” she said, voice trembling. “Of course they’re your kids. I just—I didn’t want to hurt their feelings, that’s all…”
But I was done listening.
Without another word, I turned to the guards and flicked my hand.
“Break both her arms,” I said coldly. “Every finger, one by one. Then pull out every single tooth.”
My voice dropped, each word sharp as a knife. “She dared to make a fool out of me—she should’ve been ready for the consequences.”
Kirsten’s POV
A scream tore from my throat—loud, sharp, and raw.
“Locke! You can’t do this to me!” I shrieked, thrashing in panic. “The one I’m carrying—that one really is yours! Please, think about the baby!”
I was spiraling. Nothing I said was getting through to him.
Never—not even in my darkest nightmares—did I think he’d turn into someone like this.
‘If I had known he’d become this cruel after Chantelle left… God, I never would’ve laid a finger on that woman. But now she’s gone, and somehow I’m the one paying the price?!’
The thought stabbed through me, and I sobbed even harder.
Then, just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, his voice came again—steady and merciless.
“Get rid of the one in her belly,” he said. “No anesthesia.”
Lachlan didn’t even glance at me as he delivered the final verdict.
I tried to scream. But before I could even lunge toward him, one of his men slammed a hand over my mouth, and another grabbed both of my arms!
Lachlan’s POV
Moments later, Kirsten’s scream tore through the air—sharp, unrelenting. It echoed down the long hall, piercing the silence of the estate like a knife.
Anyone within earshot would’ve felt it—a chill slicing through the bones.
But me? I didn’t feel a damn thing. No peace. No victory. No closure.
I just stood there, motionless, staring into the soft glow spilling from the kitchen.
And for a split second… I imagined my wife stepping out of it.
Like maybe, if I stood there long enough, she might walk back in—back into my life, back to me…
