Martha was stunned by Alpha Byron’s sudden question. She stood there in his arm flustered without knowing what to say to him. Nothing can describe how red her cheeks are right now.
“I won’t pressure you if you don’t want to, can we go out now?” Alpha Byron asked changing the topic of which Martha was grateful for.
He kept her in a tight spot by asking her that kind of question. Does he need her permission to give her his mark? He has been having her body just the way he wants without asking for her permission and now he is asking for her consent before marking her?
How is she supposed to respond to him without ending up embarrassing herself.
“Yes” she replied casually breathing out in sheer relief. Alpha Byron nodded his head and took a few steps back from her then stretched out his hand to her with a shrimpy smile on his face.
He watch her look away from his face to his hand as she hesitantly placed hers in his. The two walked out hand in hand. They could hear the gasps from the servants as they pass by. It is surprising to see the Alpha king holding Martha’s hand protectively as if he is afraid of letting go.
Seeing how this is turning out to be, it seems Alpha Byron doesn’t hate the Luna anymore. They now know better than to mess with the Alpha king’s mate, who is their irreplaceable Luna.
While Alpha Byron ignored them, Martha was a bit tensed by their stares. As much as she likes the feeling she is getting from having her hand in Alpha Byron’s, the stares does nothing but frighten her. Martha hates so much attention, those she has been getting since she stepped in here is enough to last her for a lifetime.
Alpha Byron paused on noticing Martha’s hold tightened in his palm. He looked at her with a worried expression after seeing her lips trembling in fear.
“Are you okay?” He asked with concern lacing through his voice while Martha nodded her head without looking at him. He followed her gaze until they landed on different pairs of eyes staring at them.
Alpha Byron glared hazardously at them, they needn’t to be told before they began scurrying away.
“You are the Luna, you shouldn’t be afraid of your subjects. Besides, you are right next to me, no one can hurt you” he assured slightly squeezing her hand and Martha passed him a grateful smile.
It gladdens her heart to hear him refer to her as the Luna, Alpha Byron keeps doing things that makes her heart flutters all the time.
By the time they took a step forward, her cheeks were scarlet red. She has been blushing more often than required and she can’t do anything to help it.
Just as she was about asking the Alpha king where they were heading to, Axel appeared in front of them.
“Alpha king” he called and inverted to Martha.
“Good morning Luna” he greeted with a bow while Martha gave him a smile.
“Did you inform district B about my visit?” Alpha Byron asked. Martha’s head snapped to them in confusion wondering what or where district B is. She has never heard of that until now.
“Yes Alpha king” Axel replied.
“Good, I will be going with the Luna. You can stay back and take care of the tower until I am back, everyone should be informed that I am now the new Alpha of dean’s pack and so, it will be merged together under ocean pack” he informed Axel who looked taken aback.
He barely heard the things Alpha Byron said after telling him to stay back. This is the first time the Alpha king will be going out without him. He has never gone out with anyone except Axel and now, he wants to go to his father’s tower with Martha, the female he almost killed.
“Axel?” Alpha Byron called with a chuckle. Martha was pacing out on him earlier. Now, it is Axel. Has he been saying things that will make them pace out on him?
“I am sorry Alpha king, I will do that now. Please return safely” Axel said and disappeared before Alpha Byron could say anything.
“Let’s go” Alpha Byron said to Martha who nodded her head in response as different unreciprocated questions inundated her mind. Why did the Alpha king take dean’s pack? What about their Alpha? What is district B?
“I don’t want you to go through the stress of walking in the forest, I will change my form and you can hop on my back so that we will get there faster” Alpha Byron enlightened her.
For some moment, Martha thought that the Alpha king is going to sell her off to some people in a strange district B. She wondered if he has been nice to her just to sell her off. She was embedding fears into herself.
Shaking her head, she tried to get rid of those spooky thoughts over taking her mind. She needed to remind herself that Alpha Byron has changed for good, she assured herself that he wouldn’t do that to her and that calmed her.
She trusts him not to hurt her again.
Alpha Byron dropped Martha when they got to the dean’s pack Alpha’s tower and change back to his human form. She looked around like a lost puppy, confused since she doesn’t know where they are.
“Welcome Alpha, we’ve been expecting you. Good morning Luna” the servants greeted on sighting the duo. It is quite astonishing how everyone tells that Martha is the Luna whenever they set their eyes on her. Is the Alpha king’s sent that strong on her? And why are they referring to them as Alpha and Luna?
Martha is sure that they are not in ocean pack, are they in dean’s pack?
Alpha Byron nodded his head at them as they paved way for both him and Martha to head inside.
He had named this side district B as part of the ocean pack since there is a forest demarcating the two. He grabbed Martha’s hand and they both went inside the Alpha’s chamber.
Alpha Byron doesn’t know why he brought Martha here, he just thought he should bring her with him.
“What will you like to take Alpha?” One of the maids asked while Alpha Byron waved his hand in the air.
“Do not bother, I will call for you when we need something” he replied dismissively and they all bowed their heads and left the room.
“This is my father’s tower, I grew up here” he broke the silence the moment they were alone. Alpha Byron never opened up to anyone about his past but with Martha, he felt the need to open up to her.
“You might not be aware of this but Luna Quinn is not my birth mother, she adopted me after she saw me almost dead in the forest with Axel tears bathing my chest. At that time, she was ruling the ocean pack” he added as he watch Martha’s stunned reaction.
That, she has never heard the story. If his father was the Alpha king then, he should be the successor. Why was he found in the forest? What happened to him?
Alpha Byron sat down on the chair and grabbed Martha’s waist, making her fall on his lap while facing him.
He wrapped his arms around her and placed his head on her chest.
“Back then, some groups of omegas were my father’s underlings. Even with their ranks, it didn’t matter to him. My father treated them like his brothers, he loved them more than he loved my brother and I. It came to a point where I was jealous of them as a child” Alpha Byron said with a small laughter, a laughter that held sadness in them.
Martha was appalled by the revelation. Alpha Byron has a brother? Where is he? Why are they not together? Is his disappearance from the dean’s pack related to omegas? Is the why he hates them?
She stared at him, she could see the conflicting look in his eyes. The kind of look she saw in his eyes when she was crying in pain from the injuries on her body. That look broke her heart, seeing him this way made her wish to be able to take the pain away.
“It was those same omegas that plotted against my father and wiped out my entire family, my parents and my younger brother because of greed. I barely managed to escape”
By the time he was done pouring his heart to her, Martha was crying profusely. How can people be so heartless to bite the hand that fed them and they did that by wiping out an entire family?
Even if the Alpha king is not supposed to hate all the omegas because of some bad eggs among them, his reason for despising them is given. Her heart ache for him, he must have gone through a lot after witnessing the brutal death of his family.
“I am sorry, I am so sorry” she said and hugged him tightly. She didn’t know what to say, she didn’t know how well to comfort him but she felt grateful to him for opening up to her about his past.
“I do not know why you are apologizing” Alpha Byron replied with a chuckle. Seeing her acting like a baby eased his mind. He felt like a burden has been lifted off him after telling her about his biological parents.
“You must have gone through a lot my king, I am sorry you went through that all alone” Martha said dizzily. She doesn’t know why she is loosing her strength all of a sudden.
Martha fought to stay still in Alpha Byron’s arm but she couldn’t when a scream escaped her mouth as she felt a pang in her stomach.
“Are you okay?” Alpha Byron panicked breaking away from the hug to look at her while Martha shook her head.
Alpha Byron looked at her suddenly pale face that were almost closing and stood up with her in his arm. She was fine minutes ago, what happened to her?
