Jason POV
Months had passed. Yesterday was Bella's nineteenth birthday. We were still in the mood of celebration.
"Alpha!" Someone called out. "I found this beside the tree."
I collected the letter from him and decided to read it.
"Take care of this gathering," I said to Max and left for my office.
In my office, I sat down and slowly tore the letter open. It was sealed by another pack.
After unsealing the letter, I read the contents. It had Bella's handwriting but Bella was in the pack house.
In the letter, the owner of the writing said that she was Bella Carter and the Bella that I had with me was a fraudster. She told me everything this Bella had also told me, thereby making me confused.
"I am your true mate, not the person you've spent a year with. Yesterday was my 19th birthday," I read.
I asked my wolf what to believe. I didn't want to trust anyone like that.
I thought of when I recognized my mate. This is false," I said and continued reading.
I was angry, although I didn't know if I was angry with anyone. The person in the letter pleaded with me to search for her unless she would be sent to the dungeon.
I looked up and asked my wolf again who was my mate.
"Bella Carter," my wolf said.
I thought strongly of what it could mean by Bella Carter. I had no one to ask if she was really Bella, but deep within me, I knew that she was Bella Carter.
I stormed out and walked into the room where Catherine and Samantha were discussing with Bella. When they saw me, they both waved to Bella and left the room.
"What's wrong, Jason?" Bella asked.
"..." I stared at her and thought of what to say or do. I didn't want to take the wrong step.
Bella smiled and walked to me. She was about to put her hands around my neck when I stopped her.
"Is this your writing?"
She smiled and nodded her head. I believed her and wanted every one of her words to contradict whatever was in the letter.
"Take a seat," I said and pulled out a chair.
I pulled a chair and sat in front of her. I began to ask her the question I had from the letter, hoping that her answer would contradict whatever was written in the letter.
I thought of how much Jack had loved her because of Mattie, but can wolves make the mistake of identifying their partners?
All the answers of Bella were the same as the letter said. I was extremely angry but chose to deal with it lightly.
"Alright," I said and tore the letter.
I went back to join the meeting that I got up from.
After the meeting, I placed a call to my private investigator to help me investigate the matter.
"I can't sense her whereas she wants me to save her," I said to myself.
Hours later, the private investigator called back and asked if he could come to the pack house which I obliged to.
Minutes later, I was with the private investigator in my office. He came along with his laptop and showed me that every information of Bella had been cleared from the database.
"Damnit, she is too smart," I cursed.
I remembered months ago when she dreamt of me sending her away. She must have thought that I would catch her one day.
With a closed eyes, I thought of all our romantic moment together.
The following week, I woke up with anger welling within me as I looked at Bella on the bed. We were still investigating about her, and I felt Jack tell me not to take matters hard on Bella.
All the information that I got was pointing to Bella, or let me say, the woman by my side.
She threw her hand on me while sleeping but I threw it back.
"Jason, you are awake?"
Her question irritated me and I frowned.
She gave me a peck on my forehead and walked to the bathroom.
Seeing that she had left, I thought for some moments about what I was planning to do. I was trying to throw her away from the pack house and, maybe, in some days, out of the pack.
I walked out of the room and instructed some ladies to go inside the room after Bella was gone and pack all that she brought here. My words were final, so no one spoke about it.
Bella sat with Catherine after her meal. She was smiling.
I had a time when I wanted her to go out.
After waiting for some minutes, I saw Catherine leave and chose to handle Bella by myself.
"Bella," I called. "Come with me."
An Omega was waiting outside with Bella's load. It was a shame.
"I would like you to stay away for some time," I said.
She asked me so many questions but I wasn't bothered to answer.
"Where should I stay?" She asked. Her eyes were red.
I pointed to the Omega, who nodded then, without thinking, I walked in.
Catherine asked for the whereabouts of Bella, and I told her that she had gone out with someone. I knew that she cared about Bella.
"Within two days, we should know the real Bella Carter," I said to myself.
We found out that the orphanage she grew up in had been destroyed. The other person we could ask about Bella was dead, that is, the woman who abducted her. I began to have doubts about the woman who called herself Bella's mother. Anyway, she has no fault in this.
She left Bella since.
"Jason, what happened?" Max asked when he noticed that I was lost in thought.
"Nothing," I replied and went to my office.
In my office, I buried my head into reading a document, but my mind wasn't on what I was reading; I was thinking of Bella.
