Jason POV
A week had passed and the Pack looked so peaceful. I held Bella's hand as I thought of how cute she looked during pregnancy. It was quite early in the morning and I knew that there were loads of meetings to attend.
I could have left the meetings to Max since I knew he could handle it, but what Alpha am I to leave it to Max?
I took in a deep breath, dropped her hand then silently left the room.
"Jason!" I heard when I was leaving and then noticed that Bella was still asleep.
I walked to the garden and sat down, thinking. My eyes glowed as I thought.
Suddenly, I heard a footstep in the dark.
Who could it be? I tried to wrap my head around who it could be. It was still dark, and from the time I had been coming here in the dark, I had met no one.
I silently watched in the dark and could feel the person stiffen. His scent was that of a male.
"Alpha!" He called.
It was Max. I continued staring and didn't move.
"You are also out here to think about the meetings,"
I got up and gave him a positive response.
"I have been thinking of how well it would be if I can stay away from it," I said.
"So am I," Max said earning a laughter from me.
"There I was thinking of leaving everything to you but that would only make me selfish,"
"Why?" Max asked.
"You have a pregnant wife and so do I. Your mate needs you at this time more than mine."
Max sighed deeply and tapped my shoulder.
"I never knew that my brother would be so considerate about this matter," he said.
I smiled at what I just heard. He never thought that I would be considerate about this matter. Well, that could have been the former Jason, not the new one. I have changed a lot since Bella entered my life and made me believe in love.
"That was the old Jason, this is the new Jason,"
Max laughed and said that he was proud of Bella for changing me.
We discussed until the day became clear. I smiled at the thought of it. We mentioned nothing about the meeting.
"Alright, I should go to my room," I said.
"I should also go to my room before Catherine becomes bored,"
I laughed at his words and headed to my room. As many who greeted me, I waved to them.
"Jason, I searched for you everywhere in the room," Bella said immediately after I entered the room. "Where did you go?"
"Your manners," I said and gave her a peck.
She kept quiet and took in a deep breath before looking into my eyes.
"Good morning,"
"Good morning," I said and held her hand. "I went to the field to think about today. I may not have time for you so also Max may not have time for Catherine. A lot of meetings have been piled up and I can't postpone them."
Bella nodded her head but I knew deep within that she wore a sad expression.
"I want the best for this pack," she said and hurried me to dress up.
When I was done dressing and was about to pull up my shoe, Bella walked in with a tray in her hand.
She sat beside me and placed the tray on the bed. It had two plates of bread and two cups of tea.
"Why didn't you wait for me?" I asked and she shook her head.
"This is the way you can make up to me,"
I held her chin so that she could look into my face, and mouthed the word, "Alright."
We ate and drank together until we were full.
Max also notified me that he ate with Catherine the same way Bella and I did. This only made me think that the two women planned it.
I walked to my office when I was done. Max came to join me. He handed me a file, and together, we searched for other files that were relevant to the meeting.
The meeting was to start in thirty minutes and there was no reason that I should read the file. I read them two days ago so I just scanned through them.
Thirty minutes later,
I walked into the meeting room, and at my back was Max. After settling in the Alpha's seat, I looked at each of them.
"Alpha, our plants are failing to grow," a man said. "We as a pack survive on these plants."
After discussing the plant issues, I promised to support them in whatever I could do this year. It was best to keep it simple. Our wolves survive on some of these plants.
After replying to them, I collected the files relating to it and sent it to the Elder, whose focus is on crops and plants to look into.
After the forty-minute meeting, we had a fifteen-minute rest. I discussed to Max some related issues and then drank some water.
Our next meeting was about a landowner. Two people settled on acquiring a land together and failed to complete the building.
We had many other meetings, and after three hours, I felt like my body was breaking down. I looked at Max who I noticed was finding it hard to stay alert.
"Our next meeting is with the Gamma."
Max nodded his head. It was clear that he didn't sleep well.
"Communicate with them that we won't be able to see anyone until three hours later," I said.
Max did as I said and sent a message that we won't be able to see them now.
I smiled and patted his back, " You should eat some food and rest."
The smile on his face was evident.
"You also look tired. You should come with me, brother,"
I accepted, rose up to my feet, and followed him.
"Get us some rice," Max said.
