Jason POV
I walked with Max to our wagon. We drove to Patel's house where we were having the meeting. It was about the pack and an attack that happened in a pack under our district. Patel was to oversee the activities there.
Getting to the house, I got down with Max and we knocked on the door.
Patel was meant to come to meet me, but he was not feeling fine and he got worried about the attack that happened.
"He is in," his wife said leading the way.
I looked around, and a smile formed across my lips.
"Patel, how are you doing?" I asked.
On seeing us, Patel sat up straight.
"Cool," I smiled on hearing this and held Max's hand.
We silently spoke together while Patel sent his maid to get us a drink.
"Greetings to our Alpha and our Beta," he said. "It's a pleasure to have you here."
A tray was brought and we took two cups of tea. I sniffled my tea before taking a sip.
It wasn't that I didn't trust Patel, but knowing how they tried to harm him before made me do this.
"Alright, so let's start with the attack," I said.
"Alright,"
Patel cleared his throat and asked his assistant to bring a file.
"I have a file which I think our enemy wants to get,"
I took the file from him, scanned through it, and then handed it to Max.
"Those are the list of criminal activities that occurred and the five last pages are the names of the criminals that I have been able to find,"
I took in a deep breath and nodded my head.
"I think the attack was made to steal this file, but I was smart enough to get it away," he continued. "Not without hurting myself."
I nodded and gave him a thumbs-up.
"You did well to protect this," I said looking at the file. "You deserve to be rewarded."
He protected the file to the extent of hurting himself. Isn't that worthy of being rewarded?
"Heal fast," I said.
"Alright, Alpha,"
"I heard that some of your warriors were severely injured,"
"Yes, Alpha," he replied.
"Where are they now?" I asked.
"Some are recovering fast while some had to visit the pack doctor who is treating them,"
"Hmmm," I nodded. "I hope you all recover as soon as possible. I would reward you all for your bravery."
"Let's speak about the pack's growth,"
We spoke for some more minutes, and then I decided that we should leave.
I got up with Max and told him that we were leaving.
"Elder Tom is ill and we plan to visit. Anyway, thank you for the compilation in the file,"
We left the house and entered the wagon.
At Elder Tom's house, I knocked on the door.
"Greetings to our Alpha. Greetings to our Beta," the house help said and led us to a couch.
"Where is Elder Tom?" Max asked.
Minutes later, Elder Tom walked to us. He bowed his head.
"We heard of your ill health," I said.
"It's so nice of the Alpha to be here," he said with a cough.
Elder Tom was almost my father's age. He is a man who is filled with vigor.
"How are you doing?" I asked.
"Cool as usual, but I can still feel some pain,"
"Everything would be fine. I know that you are fine but remember that you are old and need to take care of yourself. Your wolf would heal but take care of it," I said.
I got up and wanted to leave, but he pleaded that we spend some time in his house. He called for refreshments to be served, but I refused.
We relaxed for a while and left.
"What is next?" I asked and Max scrolled through his phone.
"The plantations," he said and I sighed.
We got to the plantations and asked to see the head of the team and had a few words with him.
I could sense that something wasn't right somewhere so I directed the wagon to the location I could sense that it was coming from.
"What is happening here?" Max asked and I knew that he could also sense that something was wrong.
We got down and looked around. There was nothing wrong where we were so we moved forward, abandoning the wagon.
At a distance, it felt like a war. I looked at Max who smirked.
"Let's have a look,"
I walked to the scene with Max, and everyone who saw us moved aside, but the two fighters were engrossed in their fight.
"This is trespassing!" Jack said. "Ridiculous."
One of the fighters wasn't from our pack, so I knew that he trespassed. The other fighter, who was a pack member, showed signs of weakness.
"Stop!" I shouted. My voice carried much weight.
The one who trespassed stopped and lowered his gaze while some people helped the beaten pack member.
"Have you ever presented yourself in the pack?" I asked and he shook his head.
"You trespassed," Max said.
I thought that I would go home with Max but thanks to Jack, I discovered this. There was a rule to torture those who trespassed and this man would be punished.
"He has trespassed," everyone cried out.
The man tried to run away but I was fast enough to get him.
People dragged him till we got to the pack's middle. I ordered that people should beat him and the angry youths did justice to that.
When the cloud became dark, I sent everyone to their houses, and Max took the man to the place Frederick was.
"Welcome," Bella said immediately I came back and showed me her phone.
I realized that some of the youths recorded the event from when the two people started fighting till when the trespasser was beaten.
It was interesting to me now. The man was fighting to mate our pack member.
"You were cool to have disciplined him," Bella said.
