ALPHA JASON'S MATE - Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Jason POV
Remembering that day made me feel awkward. Yes, she wasn't my mate but I liked her. I didn't think she could cheat on me. This didn't make me choose to love and it made me chose a very grave decision. It led me to start sleeping around.
I didn't care if it hurt my wolf or not. How can I love my mate?
Looking at Max, I took in a deep breath.
"Olivia was never my mate. I chose her because I liked her,"
It felt like he understood my situation so he nodded and asked what I would do now that I have found my real mate.
"I don't know but all I know is that she would be protected and she is the one who can stop our battle," I replied and he sighed.
"I wish the best for both of you," Max said.
We spoke on other things and were disturbed when Catherine flew in.
"What are you doing here?" Max asked.
"It's Bella," she said and I asked her what happened to Bella. "It's like she is having some strange dream."
I couldn't but stare on as I knew what it meant.
Getting up, I called Catherine with me and headed to the room. Bella was shaking rigorously making me sigh. I closed my eyes and placed my hand on her forehead and the shaking stopped.
"You should call the pack doctor," I said and Catherine nodded.
She took up her phone and called the pack doctor who arrived in some minutes. The doctor checked on Bella then sighed looking at me.
"She has a fever," he said.
I knew the meaning of the look he gave. He will think of the reason I was concerned about this lady.
Anyway, he gave us some drug and said that he would be bringing some drugs later. I smiled and escorted the doctor out before returning to Bella.
"It's just a fever," I said. "Nothing more."
I knew that this shock Catherine but I walked away, without looking back.
Max walked to me and asked about the situation. I told him what happened and he sighed.
"It's only a fever. Nothing more," I said and he stood transfixed there but I continued moving.
My wolf kept battling with me. It didn't like my behavior towards our mate. Few minutes later, I looked to my side to see Max but he wasn't there so I looked back.
He still stood on the spot I had left him.
"Max!" I called and he looked at me.
Clearing his eyes, he walked towards me.
I saw Paula walking to me and tried my best to avoid her.
"One of your little whore is approaching you," Max said with a roll in his eyes.
Paula approached me and took a bow.
"Jason, I need to see you," she said.
She was the least of my worry so I looked at Max who looked away. He had warned me about the way I lived my life but I didn't care.
"Alpha!" Paula called again and I nodded walking out with her.
Getting to a secluded area, Paula winked and what she asked next made me baffled.
"When are you going to make me your Luna?" She asked.
I told all the ladies whom I had fun with that they shouldn't think I will choose them as my Luna. Yes, I have a soft spot for Paula but why would she ask this?
"I told you not to have that idea," I said but Paula was quite reluctant. "I will think about it."
I left after speaking to her and could see her curl her hair happily. I shook my head at her. She should keep dreaming but I can't hurt my wolf anymore not now that it has seen our mate.
There was also no way that I could let her know about my mate. If I do, she may stand with the enemies.
"Her training needs to begin as soon as possible," I said returning to Max.
He asked me what Paula discussed with me. I hesitated a bit then told him.
"Bella needs to be protected," he said and I nodded.
We walked to the living room and continued discussing the pack issues and how they could be solved.
"We need to involve the Gamma in this discussion," Max said.
The Gamma was also our friend. He recruited a lot of warriors.
I told Max that we needed to eat before we continue this discussion. We were brought two plates of salad and two cups of drinks.
"Has Catherine eaten?" I asked.
Nowadays, Catherine has been caring for Bella and it made me wonder if she is spending enough time with Max but seeing the way they behave gave me hope.
"Yes, she has," he answered. "We were together some hours ago."
I nodded with a smile on my face and we continued eating.
Minutes later, Max left to his office while I went to mine.
"Mr. Scott is going to die soon," my wolf laughed but that was not my concern.
I took some file on my table and began to read through. I rang Max whenever I needed his presence.
When I was done with some file, exhaustion took over and I led my head to rest but I slept. I dreamt of walking with Bella in a garden. The whole pack looked peaceful.
My dream was interrupted by a knock on the door. I raised my head and saw Max walk in.
"Oh, I am sorry," he said. "But you should take a look at this."
He sighed and held the paperwork to me. I began to read through it and my eyes furrowed at what I read.
"You should give an order," I said. "No one messes with us and goes scot-free."
Max nodded and asked me to pen down my signature. I did that then he left.
A sigh escaped from my lips as I thought of what I just read.
