Jason POV
After they returned, the truck moved to the asylum. When we got to the asylum, I asked that they wait for me then I walked in with the handkerchief.
"Alpha Jason!" The receptionist said with her head bowed. "I should get Manuel?"
I nodded my head and she sent a colleague of hers to get Manuel.
"Why brings you here, son-in-law?" Manuel asked and everyone looked at me.
"Luna Bella's father..." Everyone said and I smiled.
"It's easy for you to sleep with her mother, but it doesn't mean that you are her father, alright?"
The murmuring stopped immediately and I looked at Manuel.
"Here is your handkerchief,"
I turned back to leave but was stopped by Manuel's laughter.
"Don't you want to save the other ladies?" He asked.
Jack growled in my head and I patted him.
"What do I need to do in order to save them?"
He let out a happy laugh and said that he felt happy that an Alpha could ask such a question.
"Do you want to tell me or not?"
"I would," he said.
I felt irritated. Never had I been delayed like this maybe except Bella.
"Then tell me!" I shouted, and everyone, even Manuel, moved back.
"Plead with them since your face is known,"
I didn't understand what he meant by that but I walked away. After climbing the truck, it drove to the pack house.
Bella hugged me immediately when she saw me. The pack doctor was in the house checking her mother.
"What is wrong with her?" I asked.
"She is fine," the doctor said. "Only that she has inhaled more smoke than she is meant to smoke."
I held my hands together and asked for what could be done.
After a few minutes, the doctor left the house, and Bella sat beside her mother. She touched her hair and I smiled seeing this action.
I looked at Jayden, who was with Samantha, went to carry him, and left for my office.
Bella walked in minutes later and gave me reports of what she had got before I came back.
"Alright, I will take it from here," I said. "You should come to get Jayden twenty minutes from now."
She bowed her head and left.
Minutes later, she walked in with a plate of salad.
"You look weak. Take this," she said and I nodded.
I left Jayden to go to his mother and began to eat the salad.
After regaining a little more strength, I placed a call to Max and told him to come to my office. He arrived within some minutes and sat in front of me.
"Is there any other thing left?" I asked. "If there isn't, then I would like it if we could go out tonight."
"With..." He was saying but I shook my head. I knew what he wanted to say, but there was no need to take our mates with us.
It's been a long time since I have felt the brotherly bond between Max and myself. It would be good if we go out together.
"Alright, I would discuss it with Catherine," he said, and I smiled, tapping my finger on my desk.
I could still remember the days that I used to taunt Max about his love, but here am I now, I am also in love.
After Max left, I heard a sound outside and looked out of the window. It was nothing much, just some children playing.
This made me laugh as I thought of Jayden and Nathan playing just like I did with Nathan's father, but now the only difference is that they are of the same age and share the same date of birth.
I got up and walked to the window, thinking of all that had happened. My parents' faces flashed in my mind.
What if one day, I fall sick and something happens to Bella, would I also need to give the position to Jayden and leave here?
There was nothing wrong with me giving him the position, but it was about leaving the house just like my father.
I sighed and shook my head.
"I should rather have good thoughts," I said to myself.
Walking out of the office, I ordered for a wheelchair to be brought, and just as the doctor advised, I asked that Bella's mother be wheeled out.
"You should be with your mother," I said to Bella who nodded and left Jayden with me.
I also asked Samantha to follow her and gave Jayden to Catherine. Jayden was unwilling to let go of my hand but had no choice but to let go when he saw Nathan.
Getting into my room, I sent a message to the person who wheeled the woman out restricting their movement.
"Do not go beyond the left axes," I said and ended the call.
I just wanted to do as the doctor said. To make her receive some air for thirty minutes every day until she recovers.
Thirty minutes later, Bella walked into the room and wrapped her hand around my waist.
"Do you have any plans for tonight?" She asked and I gave her a peck on her forehead.
"I want to go out with my brother,"
"With Max?" She asked and I nodded my head. "Alright, you should come back early."
I nodded and allowed her to rest her head on my chest.
In the evening, we sat together and ate. After resting a bit, Max and I got up.
"We would step out now," I said and gave Bella a peck, and so did Max to Catherine.
We walked out of the pack house and I wore my face mask. Max also brought his along and wore it.
While moving, we encountered a woman trying to raise a basket. She was a worker of a pack member.
I exchanged glances with Max and decided to help her.
I bent down and placed it on her neck. She was shocked and told of how no one in the pack had helped her. She began to rain blessings on us and this made me remember my mother.
