Bella POV
"I realized that I am selfish and only thinking of myself," I said tightening my grip on her. "I should not think of Jason alone but of the pack and people who care for me."
She nodded, and I raised my head from her, and she asked if I meant that I wouldn't leave the house again. I nodded although I had my plan in mind.
It won't be good if I stay here. She wanted me to stay in a place I was rejected. A place where my mate doesn't want me.
All I wanted was to find my mate and leave with him happily but it seems like I am being used by my mate. He brought me here showing his care but I just feel that he wants me for the pack.
Catherine won't understand me. How would she? Her mate accepted her, and she was always happy, but mine is different.
"Thank you for thinking of us," Catherine said. "I will walk you to your room then come to check on you later."
I nodded and gave a bitter smile.
I had my own plan, and when Catherine next came to check on me, she wouldn't see me. I wasn't happy to leave but I have my own needs.
She walked me back to my room with a smile on her face and then left.
As soon as she left, I sat up on the bed waiting for some minutes till everywhere was clear. I knew that it would be risky to go out at this time, but what else could I do?
It's better to leave here while it's still dark and escape to a faraway place.
My wolf didn't give me any problem and I knew that she had accepted the Alpha's behavior as his rejection. It would be hard for her but it's going to be well in some days. Probably, the goddess may give us another mate.
I can't stay here anymore. It would hurt her and she is my priority. I can't allow her to keep getting hurt, so it's best for us to leave here as soon as possible.
I began to curse my mate.
"He should go wherever he wants. If the goddess decides not to give me another mate, I am fine with it," I said to myself. "There are many things I can do with my life. I need to take care of myself."
Knowing that time had gone and Catherine wouldn't probably be close, I picked up my bag but heard some sounds outside, so I placed the bag somewhere secure.
My stomach grumbled, and I knew that I was hungry, so I walked out to get something to eat.
While going to the kitchen, I was stopped by a familiar sound and when I looked back, I saw her - Paula, the girl who caused trouble for me when I first entered the kitchen. If she likes the Alpha then I had no objection.
Alpha Jason doesn't want me, so he could have her instead because she wants him, and it seems like he likes her. It's not like I am competing with her, I can never do such.
I mentally congratulated her.
Sighing, I averted my gaze from her and got what I wanted.
As I was about to move out, she stopped me and mocked.
"Who do we have here? Our suppose Luna," she mocked with a smirk on her face.
She made everyone look at me and said that I tried to make the Alpha fall in love with me.
"Do you think a night of sex can make him love you?" She asked and continued, "She seduced our Alpha and thinks we need her here."
She looked at me and told me not to be fooled and Jason would never accept me.
"I am his Luna. He chose me and loves me so stop being a pathetic lady. You should get out of here," she said.
I was disgusted with her behavior and what she was saying. I came to the kitchen to get a meal and didn't come here to encounter such nonsense.
The people shook their heads looking at her, and I knew that they believed everything that she said. Why won't they when their Alpha gave her the right.
I felt the urge to say something but what could I say? They were all on her side so I saw no need to talk.
They kept murmuring, and Paula continued saying hurtful words, which made me weary. My face showed that I wasn't worried but I was. I couldn't take the insult any longer so I placed the plate down and immediately left to my room.
I took my bag, looked around, and immediately left. Catherine would be worried when she gets to know about my escape but she has done a lot for me.
Catherine had taken me through the whole place so I knew a way of escape. At first, it seemed like I didn't need it but now I found it useful.
It took some hours for me to escape the pack. The pack was so wide because of its land. I was careful about where to move. Thankfully, the lights from some of the houses led me.
I was happy that no one noticed me leaving and no one was chasing after me.
A smile formed on my lip, and I told my wolf that everything was alright and she would feel better.
"Would you also feel better?" She asked.
I smiled at her question. If she feels better then I also will feel better.
"Absolutely," I said.
It was getting darker, and I was in a bushy place, but I wasn't afraid. I maintained a straight posture ready to fight whatever may come my way. Going back wasn't an option.
Minutes later, I heard some movement and became alerted. I was ready for whatever might happen. My entire being was on alert.
I turned to look around, and a cloth covered my nose. I tried to struggle but later succumbed to the darkness of this world.
