Bella POV
Few hours later, Salmonella held my hand and took me out.
"I don't want to go out," I protested.
She didn't respond to me but pulled me with her to Tuberculosis. Although I had begun to hate his hands, the words that he spurred out of his mouth were blessings.
Salmonella dragged me with her while I warned her to stop dragging me.
"What if I am caught?" I asked and she touched my face.
"You are invisible," she said.
I had been given the name Chancroid, a sexually transmitted disease.
My heart got troubled. If I can be seen, then how will Jason be able to see me? Tuberculosis didn't want us to leave him.
I held onto my new friend's hand. We went out to the town and I saw two men look in my direction. They were part of the men who usually pursued me.
Fear gripped my heart, and I wanted to run, but Salmonella held me back.
"You are invincible and they aren't looking at you," she said.
I began to tremble. I had to tell her the truth that I didn't complete the ritual, but her words gave me comfort. She told me that once the water touched my hand, I became invincible.
Hasn't my life turned upside down?
Thinking about it, I took in a deep breath and tried to think. Luckily for me, my wolf, who has been silent for quite too long, spoke.
"Don't worry, we will find a way out of here soon," Mattie assured me.
Salmonella smiled and asked if my wolf had been activated. I didn't want to reply to her because she sounded suspicious, and I just knew her.
"No," I replied and she nodded.
She told me that it would be good if I could communicate with my wolf.
"After completing the ritual, you will lose all the right to communicate with your wolf," she said.
My heartbeat hastened as I looked at her. Thankfully, I didn't complete the ritual.
When I asked her if she completed the ritual, she gave a negative response and said that she could still communicate a little with her wolf, but this caused her many disasters when Tuberculosis got to know about it.
"Did the women tell him?" I asked and she shook her head.
"He got to know on his own," she said.
Mattie tried to speak with me, but I didn't allow her to speak to me. She could do that when I am alone.
I didn't believe her but still moved on. Maybe, she is trying to make me pay for what happened to her.
The men who I thought were looking at me passed us and I couldn't help but feel happy.
Getting to a marketplace, Salmonella winked at me, then looked at a fruit basket and told me that we should steal it. I disagreed but she held the basket.
"The only way you can live is by doing what he wants; and that is stealing.
I closed my eyes and saw her hold up the basket. She began to move and I followed.
"Hey, that's Tuberculosis," the woman shouted.
When I asked Salmonella, she told me that since we were not visible to them, they concluded that it was Tuberculosis because the only person who usually does this apart from Tuberculosis is me.
Getting back to the house, Salmonella held my hand as she went to Tuberculosis room.
She dropped the basket and Tuberculosis got up. He began to inspect it and nodded.
"You both rest at home for two days," he said, patting our backs.
Salmonella escorted me to her room and held my hand. She whispered her real name into my ear.
"I am Samantha Joel," she said.
Hearing her name made me remember a poster that I saw when I was still working as a maid. Her face was blurry in the picture, and only her family members could recognize her.
"You have been missing for quite a while now," I said and she nodded.
We spoke about other things before she left to her room.
Seeing that no one was in the room with me, I quickly went to close the door. Now, I was free to communicate with Mattie.
While closing the door, I was careful to look around to see if anyone was nearby. I didn't want anyone to disturb my communication.
I let out a sigh of relief and went into the room after shutting the door close.
"Mattie!" I called.
"There are a lot of things you should know so that you will be careful," Mattie said.
I nodded my head and encouraged her to keep speaking.
"You can't escape from here alone," she said. "You need someone that is powerful. It may also be an Alpha female."
I rolled my eyes and asked her if she knew any Alpha female but she shook her head.
"Is Samantha an Alpha female?" I asked but she shook her head.
She was about to speak when I heard a knock on the door. This made me stop Mattie and clear my throat.
I told the person to come in. One of the women that attended to me walked in. She had a tray with a bottle of water and a cup.
After she left, I saw a paper on the tray and picked it up. In the paper, it looked like someone was warning me not to allow Tuberculosis to know that I didn't complete the ritual and I could still communicate with my wolf. The person went further, pleading with me to follow his orders so that I could live peacefully here.
"Alright," I said folding the paper.
But looking at the water, I set it aside thinking of what could be in it.
"You can drink it, it's normal," Mattie said.
Taking a deep breath, I drank the water.
Being lonely in the room, I drifted into thoughts about what was happening in the Dark Pilot pack. Can they all stay happy without me? If they can then Catherine also will be.
