ALPHA JASON'S MATE - Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Bella POV
I sat confused about what he meant but Jason brought out something.
"I want you to work with me," he said handing me a paper.
Does this mean that he likes me? What works does he mean? Does he want me to plan his wedding? Impossible!
I kept asking myself questions and then decided to check the paper. What I saw caught my attention, and I looked at Jason, who gave a weird smile.
He had found out different evil things about Paula. She believed that since she was close to the Alpha, he couldn't do anything to her.
"That's why I promised to marry her," Jason said.
"Are you engaged?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I may not accept you as my mate but..." He was saying when I placed a hand over his lip.
"You would accept me one day. I would work on controlling my emotions and power. I would help this pack win," I said and looked at Jason who held no expression. He collected the paper from me and advised that I shouldn't let anyone know not even Max.
"Max is your best friend and Beta," I said, but with a stare from him, I nodded.
He opened the door and I left. I met Max, by the way, and decided to put up an act of sadness.
"Do not worry, Isabella; Alpha Jason would have no choice but to cancel this marriage," I left and walked to my room.
Catherine ran after me and only then did I know that I was smiling. I kept a sad face and immediately fell on my feet.
If Jason knew about this, he definitely would call me a drama queen.
Catherine held me and asked what Jason told me.
"He didn't respond to me," I said shedding some fake tears.
"This isn't good for you," Catherine said.
I took a deep breath thinking of how I could betray my friend.
I never had a friend before coming here so I guess that is the reason I immediately befriended Samantha.
Catherine held me up and suggested that we walk out of the room.
In the living room, Paula crossed our path and began to boast of how she would be the Luna while I would be her personal Omega. I wanted to push her away but decided to keep acting.
I feigned sadness and congratulated her.
"This is what all the ladies who like Alpha Jason hoped for after sleeping with him, but I must congratulate you," I said.
She looked at me with an angry expression and I was afraid that she would start throwing tantrums. I pulled Catherine with me.
"Don't get worried. I would never leave you for her. You have a good heart. Jason would regret marrying her..." She was saying but I quickly used a hand to cover her mouth.
Catherine looked at me with a teary face, but I reassured her that I would be fine with or without the Alpha, and she nodded.
We walked out, and she asked me what had happened to me when I was kidnapped. We each got an ice cream and then looked for a place to sit.
I began telling her all that happened from the time I was kidnapped like I told Jason.
"Thankfully, you are back here," she said.
I felt tempted to tell her about Jason's plan but that would make Jason mistrust me.
"Let's go," I heard.
A wagon was pushed and I sensed that I knew that person there.
I walked to the wagon and asked that they stop pushing it, but the people were disrespectful to me. I wanted to hit them but decided not to.
Catherine stopped the person pulling and the person pushing the wagon. They stopped and reverenced her. Anyway, they knew her as the Beta's mate and wife.
"Carry on," Catherine said to me.
I climbed on the tire and stretched my neck to see what was inside. I couldn't help but smile seeing who was inside.
After checking her pulse, I got down and looked at Catherine.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"The Alpha requested that we get her," one of the men said looking at Catherine.
I knew that they replied to my question because of Catherine's presence.
After they left, I jumped on Catherine happily.
"It's Samantha?" Catherine asked and I nodded.
"a.k.a Salmonella," I said
Catherine looked at me with a shocking expression and I had to clarify it to her.
"The man, Manuel nicknamed her by the disease Salmonella while I was given Chancroid. He nicknames himself Tuberculosis," I explained.
Catherine began to laugh. She told me that she would like to see Samantha so we hurriedly finished our ice cream and went back home.
I watched as people gathered in a room, and when we inquired, we were told that the stranger had been brutally beaten and was left to die when she was rescued. My eyes grew weak and I rested my head on Catherine's arm.
As the supposed Luna, Paula walked in and made sure she shoved me. This made me angry and I held onto my grip. The ground shook, and everyone was petrified.
"Chancroid!!!" Samantha called and I knew that she was calling me.
There was shock on everyone's face, but I forced myself in, not wanting them to know of my power. I pleaded that everyone leave the room.
"Only Catherine can stay behind.," I said but no one took action.
But when Catherine spoke, they left the room. If it was left for Paula, they wouldn't leave, but considering the order came from the Beta's mate and wife, not from the Alpha's soon-to-be wife, they all respected her words.
Paula looked at me with boiling anger, but I didn't care. When I requested that Catherine should come in, she rejected saying that I needed to speak alone with my friend.
I watched as Samantha's temperature began to settle. There were bruises on her body and I felt sorry.
