Bella POV
"He is a respectable man," I said.
Samantha smiled and asked if he was the Beta. Only then did I realize that she asked that because of what I told her about Catherine.
"Oh no, he isn't," I said and told her that he is someone that the Beta reverenced like a father figure.
Samantha's lip curled into a smile.
I knew that if I was to tell her that he is the Beta's friend she would easily guess that he is the Alpha.
"Does he like you?" She asked.
I didn't reply her question and kept on looking. Why did she ask me this question when I least expected? It would have been better if Jason likes me but I guess that for such to happen I would need to wait long.
"You didn't respond to my question," she said.
Clearing my throat, I told her that I didn't like him that much but I also reverenced him.
Samantha laughed and asked me about the Alpha and I replied that we don't hear much about him.
"You should have seen the Luna," she said.
I thought for a bit because I knew that in a pack where the Alpha isn't seen, the Luna is seen, but I didn't want Samantha to know that I was the Luna so I smiled and told her that Paula was the Luna.
The stare on Samantha's face wasn't good. She held my hand and told me that Paula can't be. Her description made me remember last night when Paula arrogantly left the room.
Samantha asked me if I liked the Luna and I smiled telling her that Paula wasn't yet the Luna but would soon be the Luna.
"That arrogant fellow isn't worthy of becoming the Luna," she said.
I asked for her reason for saying that ,and she said that she doesn't look like one ,and when I asked her about who she wanted to be the Luna. To my surprise, she said that she wanted me or any other Alpha female.
"But no one can change the Alpha's decision. We do not see him," I said.
Samantha nodded her head and told me to forget about this conversation. I knew that she was angry. Yes, she should be.
We got up and kept moving but I had my gaze on Samantha.
Our gaze met and she smiled.
We kept movin,g and when some people saw m,e they had faces filled with disgust. I knew that it was because of the things Paula had filled them with. I couldn't help but laugh thinking of how their faces would be when they know that I am the true Luna.
Samantha shook my hand and asked why they were all staring at me like that. I decided to tell her the truth about how they think I am contesting with Paula to be the Luna.
A laughter erupted from Samantha's mouth and she called them stupid.
"You should contest with her," she advised. "You are best to be chosen as the Luna and you are also a friend to the Beta's mate."
I thought of what she said and had nothing to say, but I couldn't let her know about me yet.
"I am a rogue here," I said just to end the conversation. "A favored rogue."
Samantha looked at me with eyes of pity. This wasn't also her pack so she understood what I meant.
"Bella, can you tell me your story? How did you start living here and in the pack house?" She asked.
Finding somewhere to sit, I began to tell her about all that happened. How I was born without seeing my parents, how I was adopted and people began to call me curse after my adopted mother and her child died.
I told her how I began to work and live in a house where the woman supported me against her husband's wish and how she died. I told her how Mr. Scott began to maltreat me and the conversation I heard on my birthday which led to my escape.
"It has been months since I escaped," I said.
Samantha sat like she was trying to process all that I said.
"It's good someone found you and brought you to the pack house," she said.
We got up and began to head back to the pack house and met Catherine and Max walking. Samantha asked who the man walking beside Catherine was and I had no other option than to tell her that he is the Beta, Catherine's mate and husband.
"Then, I will ask him about the Alpha," Samantha said.
My eyes bulge as I heard her. I would need to meet Max to caution him before Samantha gets to him.
I looked around seeing that this was a good opportunity to talk to Max. I pleaded with Samantha to go in saying that I had some important work to do.
After she left, I quickened my footstep to Max and Catherine who were walking to the road.
"Beta!" I called and the couples looked at me.
Catherine wore a smile as I approached them and asked about Samantha.
"She is the reason I am here," I said and they looked confused. "No, it's not that..."
I explained to them the reason I called Max. Max wore a smile and touched my face.
"Since you don't want her to know then we respect your decision," he said. "But he is surely going to pay."
I realized that he was still in the dark about Jason's plan so I shook my head.
"Ok, thank you for your care," I said. "Do not be sad if the Alpha turns a deaf ear to you."
With that said, I left like I was angry.
Getting inside, I saw Paula and some women standing in the way of Samantha.
"What's wrong?" I asked and Paula beat on her chest.
The women who stood beside Paula mocked me
"Since she is your friend, why don't we teach you both a lesson?" Paula asked.
She brought out a stick and was about to hit it on me where Jason walked to her side.
