I nodded and told him that we were going to give this also to the investigator. Right now, I felt like hugging Bella for the wonderful work she did.
Noticing the change on my face, Max asked if anything was wrong. I smiled and told him that I was thinking of Bella's honor and prestige.
That was a lie and also the truth.
Max beamed with a smile as he looked at me, but I maintained my expression.
"After tomorrow, we will know the culprit," I said. "That would be good for both Bella and the pack."
I said that considering what Bella said but Max thought of our happiness.
"You didn't have work to do today, but now Bella has given you," Max joked.
I was going to call the private investigator here when I wanted to give him the evidence Bella collected. I knew that Bella did this for her friend but it didn't speak much.
Samantha could have done this and tried to frame others. She might not be happy to serve Bella. How many weeks did they know each other before coming here?
Bella also might not have stayed here for long, but after all, she is my mate, and I would do everything to protect her.
Her personal Omega is meant to protect her but is locked.
"Jason, you look lost," Max said giving me a tap.
"Did you say anything?" I asked and he smiled.
He taunted me about thinking of Bella and not listening to anything else.
"I pray to the goddess that you find the culprit so that you can move on to being your normal self," he said. "Don't forget we are meant to war, to battle soon."
It wasn't like a wrestling match that would require us to sit at a spot but we had to be prepared. The pack that wanted to war with us sent us a letter that they were coming on a rainy day.
From the calendar, it would start to rain by next week.
The last time that the pack attacked, they succeeded in killing some of our members but we killed a lot of their members also.
It was a good thing we had our Luna with us, but won't she act like a baby and lose this war?
I shook my head as I thought of this. Jack also told me that she won't. She has told me that she won't lose and I trusted that she won't lose.
"There should be a protest before the rainy days," Max said.
Protest?
Why does he want that?
As if he knew what was on my mind, he cleared his throat and explained that it could boost Bella's determination.
"A Luna would want the best for her pack and if she deeply loves the Alpha, it's of more advantage," Max said and added that he knew that we deeply love each other.
My expression didn't change and I wondered if Bella was of that thought. If she deeply loves me then she should let me know so that I can come out of this doubt.
I shook my head and looked at Max who took my action as disapproval.
"Do you really disapprove of the protest?" He asked and I sniffled.
"I do approve of it," I said.
This move may push Bella to stand strong as she won't want to lose face in front of everyone. She might not love me but she will want to keep her position as the Luna.
"Alright. That's good," Max said.
We spoke about other things till the sun went down.
While going out, we met Catherine and asked about Bella.
"Taking care of some matters," she said.
My lips twitched into a smile as I thought of Bella performing a Luna's duty.
Max let Catherine know that we were heading somewhere for work.
We left to where the suspects were always kept and I put on my mask.
After asking questions, it probed my heart to have more doubts. Samantha said she knew nothing about it, but Tina pointed all her words to Samantha, who was shocked.
It could be one of her pretense to be shocked.
After getting some response, we decided to go back to the pack house. I called the private investigator and Max gave him all that we got.
"Alright, I should be done by tomorrow," he said and left.
After he left, Bella entered my office and asked what we got. I explained to her everything that took place when we went to visit the suspects. She took a deep breath but still assured us that it wasn't done by Samantha.
This, however, didn't sit well with me. Why was she so sure that Samantha didn't have anything in this? From what she said, she only knew Samantha for a week before she escaped to me.
"However you please," I said and she smiled.
I was expecting her to leave but she didn't. She walked close to me and pulled my cheek.
"You aren't old, you are young and behave old,"
I caught hold of her hand and told her that she also was not a baby, but she behaved like a baby.
"So cute," she laughed. "It would be nice to behave like this since I never did when I was young."
Remembering what she had told me about her growing up, I couldn't help but feel sad for her. She wants to do things that she didn't have time to do when she was young.
"Remember that we need you," I said.
"Next week," she said and I wondered how she knew it.
I have been studying her power, the good side. It was a nice thing that she had worked on herself.
"I heard that you have started doing your duties," I said as she was about to walk out.
She stopped and turned to me.
"Why won't I? After all, I am the Luna," she said and I nodded.
I took up my phone to call someone but was stopped by her voice.
"You are my mate, my friend, my husband, my love, and my life," she said and left.
This made me shock.
Does she mean it?
