Bella POV
The war went well and we were on our way home. There was a roadblock on the way, and I knew that it was because of the war.
No one in the pack was killed and this made me so excited.
I jumped on Jason immediately after we got home, and he patted my back.
"You weren't smiling when we were out," I said, and he looked at me like I had stolen something.
"You shouldn't be too excited," he said.
I walked in and we were welcomed by everyone.
There was a light party held in celebration of our victory. Samantha stood close to me while I found Catherine continuously looking at me.
"Let's invite our Alpha and Luna," the organizer said.
This made me remember what I discussed with Jason some time ago. My expression changed but I didn't make it obvious.
The people believe that we were in love like other Alpha and Luna do. Let them believe.
Jason cleared his throat and took the microphone.
"I would like everyone to know that I would be going on a trip," he said. "Moreover, you would still have your Luna and Beta here."
I might be away for three months.
This made no sense to me. How would he announce a disheartening news during a celebration?
To my surprise, everyone clapped. They were all happy, and I heard no choice but to fake a smile.
After the celebration, I walked to the room with Jason.
"Why do you want to leave?" I asked with my head on his back.
"I am not leaving. It's just that I have a work to do," he said.
I sat down on the bed thinking of the duties that would be on me.
"Are you well?" I asked when I felt his temperature.
He nodded his head but I wasn't going to take it as an answer.
Without looking at him, I dashed outside and met with Catherine who saw me in a hurry.
"What is wrong?" She asked.
I pointed to my room.
"The Alpha.... The Alpha..."
Catherine placed her hand on my hair and told me to calm down. Only then did I realize that my heart wasn't settled.
Maybe, it was because I didn't want the Alpha to leave me alone.
"You may speak calmly to me," Catherine said.
Looking at how I was, one would think that I was in a disastrous situation.
"I think Jason isn't fine," I said.
A smile was seen on Catherine's face.
"You do not want him to leave,"
How could she think of this?
"You should check on him," I said but she shook her head.
"It's disrespectful for me to go in like that," she said.
I tried reasoning with her and said that she was older than the both of us. But it wasn't enough as Jason was in a higher position than her and considered her as an elder sister.
"You are a female and that is the reason..." She was saying when Jason interrupted.
"You may check on me later," I said and tried to walk past me, but I wasn't going to allow him.
I caught his hand and held firm to it knowing that he won't try anything funny because of the presence of Catherine.
Catherine took in a deep breath and walked to his side. After feeling his temperature, she asked him to take some rest.
"It doesn't need treatment, but I guess he has overworked himself," she said.
With a smile on his face, Jason walked to the room, and I locked the door.
"Where is the Alpha?" Max asked when he saw us and Catherine explained everything to him.
"You are a true Luna," Max said.
Behind Max was Samantha who was standing dutifully. Her gaze was on Catherine who was by my side.
"My personal Omega is here," I said.
Max moved away immediately he heard that. Catherine touched my cheek before going to meet Max.
Samantha walked to me and we began to walk.
"How was your days during the house arrest?" I asked.
She explained how both of them denied poisoning the food.
"Whenever Alpha Jason asked us, we told him that we knew nothing. I thought it was a plot done by someone else and was ready for whatever might happen," Samantha said smiling.
She asked about Jason and I answered her.
"You will be taking over his duties,"
"Yes, I would, but I can't help but wonder the reason he wants to leave," I said, then remembered what he said.
Samantha and I kept moving then I got to the Alpha's office. Max was already in so I told Samantha to leave.
"There," Max pointed to a lunch pack that was on the Alpha's table.
He was to teach me about things I didn't know but wanted me to eat from the lunch pack.
"Eat a little," he said and I nodded.
After eating, he began to explain some things to me. I wasn't in a rush to learn everything at once so I told him to take everything calmly.
I have learned not to do anything in a rush.
I asked Max when Jason was leaving and he told me in the next week.
"Alright,"
Within four hours, I was able to settle some files. It was stressful for a beginner but Max was there to guide me.
He helped me and saw that I didn't make a mistake.
"There isn't plenty of work to do," Max said, and I sighed.
I wanted to ask him when we were going to have much work to do but I saw that my question was inappropriate.
"You should go to the cabin," he said. "Some people are waiting for you."
I frowned at this but got up. Who could be waiting for me in the cabin?
Weren't they here to see Jason?
After my discussion with the people, I went back in. My attention was drawn to the kitchen and I walked towards it.
