"You are tired," I said, and she immediately jumped to her feet, thereby making me laugh. "Calm down."
Samantha placed her hand on her chest and then hugged me.
"Why are you going to?"
"To the office,"
Samantha wasn't like an Omega but because she had an Omega spirit, we could consider her as one.
I left with Catherine but stopped when I remembered something.
"Samantha!" I called turned back. "Can you come into the office?"
With a sigh, she answered and agreed to come with me. Seeing that Samantha was coming along, Catherine left.
"Take your seat," I said after we got to the office.
I pulled out the book that I was reading and flipped open to the page I was at before Catherine came then looked up.
After Samantha had closed the door, I let out a sigh.
"You have found your mate," I said.
"I'm not sure," she said then I asked her if it was Philip as Catherine said.
The smile on her lips told me that I was right. Just like me, her mate wasn't a member of the pack where she was born.
"He is," she said and I wondered if she read what was on my mind.
Samantha cleared her throat and began to tell me what he told her. His mother was a member of the Oak pack, and his father was a member of the Crescent pack. After his mother's death, his father could no longer take care of him and sold him as a little boy to an old couple who visited Crescent Pack, so he spent most of his life in Dark Pilot Pack.
"Do you know anything about the old couples?" I asked but she shook her head.
Having nothing else to say, I sent her away.
My attention was on the book as I began to eat that I forgot to eat when it was evening until I became tired.
I had a terrible dream immediately I laid my head on the desk to rest.
In the dream, I saw my younger version walking aimlessly in the pack, beginning for money while I stood with Alpha Jason chatting. A car sped and was about to hit my younger version.
My sleep was interrupted by a tap.
"Catherine!" I called on seeing her.
After I explained my dream to her, Catherine showed no emotion to this.
"You should eat a little then leave the office," she said.
After eating, I left the office to my room.
My phone lit up immediately. I got into the room, and to my surprise, it was a message from Jason. I smiled when I was done reading the message and went to sleep.
Waking up the following morning, I walked out of the room after taking my bath and wearing a better cloth.
To my surprise, the people who came to explore the pack were around.
"Why are they here?" I asked Catherine who also wore a surprised expression.
One of them walked to me and greeted me.
Their greeting wasn't like ours. They made me know that they wanted to know our customs and traditions.
"Well, I won't be able to show you but someone will guide you," I said and saw them leave.
I walked to the kitchen and got something to eat, then decided to rest a bit before I went into the office to continue reading about the pack.
Minutes later, I went into the office to read for a while, and in the afternoon, Samantha came knocking.
"We should go out for a walk," she said.
While we were walking, I noticed a baby crying.
"Looks like he has been abandoned," I heard someone say.
"I know the baby's mother. She doesn't live in this pack but spent a few days here and left," Another lady said. "I never knew that she would leave her baby behind."
"Can she be searching for the baby?"
"I doubt so. Look at that,"
I looked at the baby and let out a sad expression. No one was ready to take him. Everyone spoke of how terrible the mother would be.
This made me think of myself. I grew up in the orphanage and it was possible that something like this happened.
I looked at Catherine and suggested that we should take care of him till his mother comes for him. Catherine agreed to this and we informed the women to let his mother know that he is in the pack house when she comes looking for him.
The child stopped weeping immediately I carried him. Catherine asked if I would adopt the boy if his mother didn't come back for him.
"I won't," I said. "He is going to live under my discipline but not as my son."
We gave up on the idea of continuing our walk and took the baby to the pack house.
"Hi, cutie," Samantha called, touching the baby's lip.
I explained to her how we got the child and she was amazed.
"How can a mother do that?" She asked and I gave a weird smile.
It happened that I didn't know how mine happened, but I had that star on my neck, which could mean that they left me. Maybe to die.
"I am going to take care of you," I said.
"Alpha Jason doesn't know about him," Samantha said and I knew that she was worried.
"Do not worry," I said. "He isn't going to be our son but under our care."
Soon, an Omega came in with a cottage, and I placed the baby in there.
Max and Catherine stood beside each other. Only then did I notice something off in Catherine. Was she pregnant?
I would be very happy if I found out that she was pregnant.
Catherine walked to the cabin and smiled, looking forward at the baby, who was fast asleep.
"Someone should call the doctor," I said.
I wanted the doctor to check the baby as he had been out for a long time.
