                    Bella POV
The day was clear. I looked at Jason, who was peacefully sleeping and began to wonder how my life would have been if I was someone else's mate.
"What are you staring at?" He asked earning a smile from me.
Was he pretending to be asleep?
"Jason!" I called and placed my hand on his cheek but he was quick to shove my hands off. I was startled by this action of his.
Was anything wrong?
Why did he behave like this?
I shook my head and turned his face to look at me.
"Get your hands off me," he said emanating a cold aura.
I felt tears fall from my eyes as I looked at the man who treated me right but now, was he angry? What have I done wrong?
"Sorry," he said and got up from the bed.
He pulled out a new cloth and walked into the bathroom and came out in the new dress later. This got me bordered, and I got up and wanted to approach him, but he raised a hand.
"You shouldn't worry about me," he said. "I have some work to do outside the pack house."
I folded my hands but was still angry.
"Do not come to look for me in the cabin or my safe hide. I won't be in either,"
With that said, he walked out of the room. I was confused.
Minutes later, I was done getting dressed and walked out. I asked for where Jason might have been but none of them knew where he was.
Max, Catherine, and I went to check the cabin and his hideout, but he was not there. I thought that I would see him in the place he said that I shouldn't search for him but I was wrong.
"Where do you think he can be?" I asked looking at Max.
He took no one with him so there was no one to contact, neither did he take his phone.
Doesn't he know that he could get attacked by his enemies.
"Jason, where are you?" I asked with tears rolling down my eyes.
Catherine, who saw this drew me closer to herself.
"Do not worry. The Alpha will be found," Catherine said.
I saw Max organize people to look for him, but before they could leave, someone shouted.
"Our Alpha's writing,"
Max collected the paper and read. Jason told everyone not to worry about following him but that we should pray that he succeeds in his mission.
When Max finished reading the paper, I looked to the sky and prayed to the goddess to protect Jason.
"Protect him not only as my mate but the Alpha of this pack. He is a protector to everyone here,"
I wept as I prayed. It still hurts me when I remembered how he behaved to me.
"Do not worry, Bella," Catherine said wiping my tears.
It was announced that none of us was eating until Jason came back. The rule also applied to those who had already eaten their breakfast. No one was going to eat anything until Jason came back.
That was fasting and we weren't to speak a word.
My eyes met with the lady who mistakenly poisoned Jason's food and I gritted my teeth. I saw her look down immediately our eyes met.
Time passed yet Jason wasn't back. I was hungry and asked myself why I didn't get a meal before asking for Jason's whereabouts.
I looked around and saw some not-so-pleasant faces and knew that they were either hungry or uncomfortable.
"You can come in," we heard Jason's voice.
I got up with a smile on my face.
"What are you all doing here?" Jason asked and Max answered him.
I was so happy that he came back and decided to walk to him. However, I stopped when I saw the woman that he called in.
"Who is she?" Catherine asked.
"She is..." He was saying when I left for Jeff's room.
How can he call that woman here?
Didn't I grow up without a mother?
All sorts of thoughts kept ringing in my mind.
"No, he needs to send her away before I turn evil," I said.
Jeff looked at my face and was smiling but I was moody.
"Bella, Alpha Jason has explained everything to us. You should come out," I heard Catherine's voice.
What did he explain?
"She is your mother and had to hide," she said.
I didn't go out even with many of her words. At last, I fell asleep there since I was hungry.
A tap woke me and I looked towards the door. It had been broken.
After he had touched Jeff, Jason raised me up in his hand. He carried me out and placed me in front of the woman.
"Everyone leave," Jason said and everyone except Max and Catherine left.
"Don't force her," the woman said.
"Where is your husband?" I asked.
"Dead,"
I knew that she was expecting sympathy from me, but what I told her, shocked everyone.
"You are meant to go with him,"
"Bella!" Jason called.
Immediately, I felt my body trembling and the woman held her neck like I was strangling her. Catherine rushed to stabilize me as I collapsed on the floor.
When I opened my eyes, I could only see sad faces. My eyes rolled and I thought about Jeff. What if he sees his mother after we are gone, won't I want him to accept her?
"Where is Mother?" I asked.
They all wore surprised expressions. Samantha looked at Catherine likewise did the two men. I repeated my question again and saw Catherine giggle.
Holding me up, Catherine took me to another room where I saw the woman's eyes close.
"Her vocal cord is almost damaged. You strangled her so hard and if I wasn't there to stop you, you might have killed her here," Samantha said.
Tears began to roll down my eyes as I touched her hand. It was hurting.
