Bella POV
"Oh, thank you," I said following Jason.
When we almost got to the pack house, Jason took off his mask. We entered the house, and I saw Samantha, who welcomed us back. She was with Jeff who smiled upon seeing me.
I looked around and saw my mother meditating and took a deep breath.
"You should go to her when she is done meditating," Jason said.
I looked at Jeff who Samantha said she brought out because he was crying. He stopped immediately she carried him but didn't smile. However, when I came in he smiled.
Mother looked up to me with a smile on her face.
"Mother!" I called.
I could feel emotional and wanted to hug her even though I hadn't accepted her.
After speaking to her for some time, she left and I walked to play with Jeff.
After playing with him for some while, he fell asleep, and Samantha took him to sleep before leaving.
"What an amazing night," Jason said and pulled me along with him.
The following morning, everywhere was silent when I woke up. I looked at Jason, who was meditating and remembered last night when my mother was meditating.
I waited for him to open his eyes but since it was taking like forever, I left to take my bath and get dressed.
It was only after I had finished dressing that he opened his eyes.
"Good morning," he said.
"Good morning,"
He got up and walked to the closet then brought out a box from it.
"I want you to close your eyes," he said.
I felt him put something around my neck. It was beautiful when I looked at it.
"Wow, you got me a new chain,"
The chain also had my name on it. I could wear the two.
"It seems quiet," Jason said.
After he had taken his bath, we walked out to check what was happening but there was no one in the living room. Not even an Omega. I heard voices outside and suggested that we check what is going on.
Outside, people gathered and we wondered what was happening. Jason moved through the crowd of people and went forward while holding me. My eyes widened as I saw a dead person in front of us.
I couldn't remember using my power on anyone.
"Who did this?" Jason asked.
Everyone fidgeted as they were met with Jason's stern gaze. He stamped his leg on the floor and everyone was afraid.
Max and Catherine walked out of the pack house and looked at the situation. Jason left me to Catherine and looked at each one of them.
"Who did this?" He asked harshly.
No one spoke but when he was about to speak, a man raised his hand. Everyone's attention went to him as he trembled. But before anyone could lay an accusing finger on him, he spoke up.
"I was coming here when I saw this body. I ran to call people to see and others joined. I don't think we are safe," Jason shook his head and I knew that he didn't believe any word of his.
I also didn't believe his words. How could we just believe a word like that?
"It seems like the person had been killed since three hours," I said and everyone looked at me. "He was injured then killed."
Jason took a deep breath and walked forward looking at the sky.
"Whoever did this meant evil for the pack and isn't a member of this pack," he said.
People from different corners who heard the news came to see what was wrong.
"Send this body to the lab to determine what killed him. We aren't weak and we must find out who killed him,"
The body was decaying but some men came to carry it to the lab. We silently left, and nobody made a noise. It was announced that no one should go out of their houses till evening.
Jeff wept till he slept. I could see Samantha sitting in one place, and Catherine hugged Max. Jason's head faced the wall like he was thinking of something. In short, the pack house was silent. There was no movement. It felt like we were fasting.
I could feel that it was the first time that they would experience this. My mother walked to me and I hugged her to myself.
In the evening, everyone ate. Jason chose to go out, and I chose to move with him so that I wouldn't be bored, but stepping out, we saw another dead body.
People who went out of the house to see what was going on or to get something gathered. Catherine also came out and when she saw the person on the floor, she couldn't help but weep.
"Who is doing this to us, oh goddess?" Jason asked.
I walked to his side and fell on my knees. Tears began to flow while I looked up to heaven.
Anger filled me and when I got up, the ground shook.
"Who is this person against us?" Jason asked.
I held the hem of my clothes, and visions of what I had nightmares I had when I was small began to appear.
In the nightmare, I was walking in the middle of people who were covered in blood. They were multiple, then it shifted to a house, then to the bloody body. It was then I looked at the pack house then discovered that it was the same house in my dream.
"Is everyone going to die?"
I held tightly to the hem of my gown and didn't know when I fainted.
I woke up that evening and looked forward. People were standing in the room. It looked like they were waiting for me to wake up.
"How are you, Bella?" Catherine asked and walked to the bed.
She touched my hair and I felt like crying.
"I will do everything to save all of you," I said. "Even if it means sacrificing myself."
I knew that in that dream, I was selfish enough to allow everyone to die.
