Jason POV
It was morning, and we went to check for a new body. The key was found by the keeper on the floor.
"Alpha!" He called with his head bowed. "Where is Luna Bella?"
I found the question quite funny but told him that she should have been in her room. After his explanation, I thought of my last night's action. Could it be because of the way I behaved?
Shaking my thoughts off, I told him to open the door. There was no one on the floor which made the people jubilate.
People, who were also outside were celebrating.
Amid the jubilation, Max's eyes were on something. I watched as he walked to a bench and unglued a letter. Everyone stopped and all attention was on Max.
After tearing the tape, Max began to read its content aloud. He didn't pause until he finished reading it.
Everyone glared at themselves and I was stunned.
In the letter, Bella told about the flashes of dreams that she usually had when she was little and what she knew it meant. She could not be selfish enough to allow the pack members to die.
I looked towards heaven and saw a thin line.
"She sacrificed herself," someone said.
More than half of the pack members wailed.
Is this how the goddess wanted to help the pack?
The thin line that I saw meant that she wasn't dead, but what if she wasn't in this pack?
"Send the Gammas to the four corners of this pack to search for her," I commanded. "Dead or alive."
Immediately my order was made, I saw people spring up to their feet. I walked into the pack house with a determined expression. I was going to pray.
Max stood behind me and called, Alpha.
"Our Luna isn't dead," he said and I nodded.
I told him about the thin line that I saw which indicated that Bella was still alive.
"She is currently not stable, but she is alive," I said.
Thinking of it, I questioned myself about my attitude to her.
What if she isn't in the pack?
I wore a determined look.
One week later, Bella hasn't still been found. Most of the Gamma came back with news saying that they searched all the houses but couldn't find her.
I got up every day just to think about her. It had affected my decision in the pack, and my Beta, Max, had made decisions for me.
I hardly ate or drank. Why should this happen?
Long ago when I chose not to like her, it would have been better, but now I don't know how to feel.
I managed to put on a smile whenever I was outside.
"Oh goddess, we are waiting for her," I said.
The entire pack had been silent ever since then. Trades were still ongoing but people didn't buy much.
There was a knock on my door and when I opened it, it was Max.
"Your presence is needed out there, Alpha," he said. "Get dressed, eat a little and come out."
After communicating with me, he left.
For one week, Max had been taking care of the pack matters so I guess this wasn't what he could handle.
I got up, had my bath, put on a dress, and ate a little from the portion that Max had brought.
After relaxing a bit, I went out. People bowed to me and when I sat down, two women were brought before me.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"I suspect her of kidnapping my child and husband," one of them said, pointing to the other.
"I did nothing of such, Alpha," the other woman said.
Clearing my throat, I looked to my right and then left.
"We would look into this, but I will advise that the woman whose family was kidnapped should wait here until everything is solved," I said.
It was a way of protecting her. If what she said is true, the other woman won't be able to hurt her.
The matter was settled then I walked into the room.
I felt like the world was against me, but whenever I heard Max's voice, it quickened my spirit.
I kept thinking of what could have happened to Bella. Whenever I stepped out of the house, I saw the thin line that meant Bella wasn't alive.
Was she kidnapped? If she was, why did they need to kill people every day before they had a chance to kidnap her?
"Bella, you need to be back soon,"
I missed her. I miss everything about her. She was my Luna, so why shouldn't I want her back?
Many thoughts were in my mind, but I knew that I could lose my mind like this, so I decided to take a stroll outside.
"Take care of the pack," I said to Max and placed a hand on his shoulder before walking out.
On each side that I looked at, I saw Bella's smile. It was amazing but I knew that it was just my imagination.
People who saw me along the way greeted although some couldn't recognize me because of the new mask that I wore and the English attire.
People greeted casually and I could walk free. I overheard a conversation between two people.
"The pack hasn't recovered from the shock of losing its Luna," I heard.
"I don't believe that she is dead. Maybe she was transported to another world to be a queen. She was a queen sent to us from heaven,"
"Yes, I heard that she came here as a rogue who was pursued and now that she is gone, she might have sacrificed herself by going to another pack,"
"What do you mean? Don't say that. Her former pack has been destroyed,"
I looked at the people and shook my head before I continued walking. They could think of whatever they chose to believe. There was some truth in their words.
But how could I believe that the goddess only wanted her to stay for a while here?
