                    Bella POV
I woke up the next morning with a heart of gratitude and looked to the side, but Jason wasn't there.
Where could he have gone?
I lazily got out of the bed and went to check the bathroom for him. He wasn't there. I looked at the corners of the room and sadly told myself that he had woken earlier.
After dressing, I walked out and saw Samantha. She bowed to me and apologized for not being available for a while. She led me to the table, where I saw Catherine, Max, and Jason seated. There was nothing on the table.
After I sat, breakfast was served. I felt a gaze at me and when I looked to see who it was, I smiled.
Jason looked more handsome, and it felt like I should wrap my head around his neck, tell him about how handsome he looked, and kiss him. I could have done that before, but in the presence of two people that I respected, I couldn't.
"I think we can start," Max said.
Jason was the first to dip his hand into the meal, then I followed suit, then Max, and lastly Catherine.
We kept eating and when I looked back, I didn't see Samantha.
A smile crossed my lips as Jason held my hand when we were done with our meal. We were still seated on the chairs and this got me wondering, What next?
"Do you think our troubles are gone?" Max asked and I felt all gaze on me.
"No," I said, confidently.
I had a dream where a woman who looked like the woman who adopted me told me that it was not over.
Thinking of her now broke my heart. Why did she die? She is also meant to see her adopted daughter grow up.
"Why did you say that?" Catherine asked.
"Sometimes, we don't end a war by winning. Sometimes, we need to fight till our last breath,"
They wore a shocked expression and glared at one another. I got up from the chair and asked for Jeff.
Jeff was brought to me then I sat.
"History repeats itself like how it did for me and Jeff. Many people face this. Only a few can handle it," I said.
They all stared at me like I was speaking in parables.
"History is going to repeat itself," I said.
The tears that I was preventing from rolling down my eyes slowly came out.
"I don't want to face the same fate. I don't want Jason to hate me," I cried.
Jason touched my cheek and promised that it wouldn't happen. We would pray to the goddess to stop it from happening. I just hope for the best.
Nothing could be done if she decided to make it like this.
"Alright," I said holding Jeff to myself.
I walked with Jason to his office. He didn't perform his duty yesterday because he took his time to be with me.
There was a knock, and we were told that my mother wanted to see me. Jason left with me as he had the intuition that she wanted to say something important.
"I made a promise to our goddess that if you get found, I will walk to Crescent pack, locate the location I left you, and pray at midnight."
It was risky. The pack had been destroyed, so how would she locate it?
"Crescent pack is no more," I said.
"Yes, I know, but the goddess would lead me," she said.
I wanted to say some more words, but Jason stopped me.
"She can go. The goddess is with her,"
I thought for some minutes then agreed. Seeing that I had agreed, Mother left for her room. She came out with a small bag and left the pack house. I chose to accompany her to the pack exit, but Jason stopped me. He sent someone to escort her out of the pack.
After seeing her leave the pack house, I looked at Jason, who smiled while holding my chin and then hugged me.
Pulling away from the hug, we went into his office. To his surprise, the work he needed to do was already done.
"This is Max's did," he said with a cute smile on his face.
He dialed Max's number and invited him into the office.
Minutes later, Max walked into the office and greeted us.
"Did you complete my tasks?" Jason asked and he nodded.
They spoke about other things and later Max left. It was exciting for me to know that Jason had no work to do. This man needed some days to rest unless he would collapse.
"Can we talk for a minute?" He asked.
Why did he ask me this?
What exactly was his question?
"What is it?" I asked with glittering eyes.
Jason walked to me and put his hand across my neck.
"How would you feel if everything came true?"
My heartbeat hastened as I wondered what question he was asking.
"History repeating itself," he said.
I bit on the lower part of my lip and wanted to push him away. Was it about hating me?
"Do you hate me?" I found myself asking that question.
Without saying anything, Jason walked to take his seat. I felt like weeping as I looked at him, but I chose to be courageous.
"You don't have me," I said.
"Yes, I don't," he said and his lips curled into a smile. "I can't afford to hate you, anymore. You are the best thing that can happen to me."
His flattering words made my heart soften and I prayed that he wouldn't hate me later. Although, in the book, the two later got together but they ruled the pack with toughness.
"Since there is nothing to do, let's check what is going on," I said.
Jason nodded and we walked out. We saw Samantha whose gaze was on me. I knew that she wanted to tell me something so I had to take an excuse from Jason.
