Autumn
I closed my eyes for a moment, as I felt strength fill me up. I felt energised. I felt powerful.
And my wolf was enraged. She has never been so angry. She was always so cool and gentle.
But today that she came out, it looked like she had been keeping that anger in for quite so long that she couldn't do it anymore.
My sufferings, everything I had to go through before today, everything I was forced to do so I could unlock her.
It made her so angry. And it filled me with strength.
“I—I will talk,” Lucas' voice brought me out of the void I had suspended myself in.
I opened my eyes and looked at him.
He had fear in his eyes as he regarded me. There was blood all over him now, on his hands, his chest.
But I wasn't bothered. I would have been if it was a long time ago but not today.
I watched the vines unwrap themselves. Some had already gone deep inside his flesh that he winced as they forcefully pulled themselves apart from him.
He spat out, as he tried to keep his breathing together. His hands went around his neck for a moment.
“How? How were you able to do that?”
I pulled him up by his collar. “Enough of the question! I'm the one asking the question. You are supposed to answer, not ask questions.”
Lucas nodded several times. “My father wants the throne. He wants the crown, the exact place that Xavier is. In fact, he was the one that gave me the perfect idea to get Gwen, even though”
“She already said she wasn't interested,” I completed for him and finally dropped him.
I turned towards Mercury and Dylan, just remembering they were standing behind me.
I knew when they were running behind me, I could scent them.
“We will return home now,” I muttered.
And from the corner of my eye, I saw Lucas trying to escape.
I turned around quickly and caught him before he could make a run for it, then I threw him against a tree nearby.
He went still immediately, losing consciousness.
“Dylan should take Lucas while you should take Elixir,” I turned to Mercury. “I want both of them in the same cell.”
They both bowed their heads and started to shift again. They took Elixir and Lucas and started racing towards home.
I watched them for a moment until they were out of sight before I started to shift as well. I made sure the shirt was off my body so I wouldn't destroy it.
It felt easy now, and there was no pain.
I was scared initially because my first transformation has been a lot of pain. I guess that was how it was supposed to be since it was my first.
I picked up the shirt and started to race as well. Despite the gap I gave them, I met them on the way.
Well, I was faster.
We took the direction from where we came from. But while Dylan and Mercury went inside with their wolves, I morphed back to human. I was the silver wolf; it would be easily spotted from far away, unlike Mercury and Dylan brown wolves.
I put on the shirt before I walked to my room. I got inside unseen. Rowan should still be around. It must be why everything is so cool.
I waited for Mercury and Dylan. It didn't take up to ten minutes before they both walked inside.
“Where are they?” I asked the moment they were inside.
“We kept both of them at cell four, but what are we going to do with them? Are you going to inform Alpha Xavier about it?”
“I don't know yet, but leave me to handle it. I will sort it out before we leave,” I assured.
Dylan nodded once. “What's the next step?” He asked instead.
I glanced at the wall clock. It was thirty minutes before 10. I still have time left.
“Dylan, you should meet with the elders and let them know we are leaving very soon.”
Dylan bowed slightly in response.
I looked at Mercury. “Get to my parents and escort them safely to the elders. You do know that to everyone, they are dead already.”
Mercury nodded once. “I promise to protect them with my life.”
I regarded her for a moment, not agreeing with her statement. “Don't protect them with your life, Mercury, because I need you too. Protect all your lives, because I need the three of you alive.”
Mercury smiled softly. “Alright, Alpha.”
“And you?” Dylan asked.
“I will meet you guys by 10:30 at the house because we will all leave together. Assure the elders that our plan will run smoothly this time around because my wolf is here.”
“And where will you be alone?”
I looked at Dylan for a moment. “Today is the day that Xavier will die,” I revealed.
Mercury and Dylan looked at themselves for a moment before they turned towards me again.
“Please, don't do this,” Dylan said softly.
I shook my head briefly. “He deserves to die. And that will be final. You guys should go ahead.”
Dylan and Mercury bowed slightly before they finally stepped out.
I waited for a few minutes before I stepped out of my room. I moved towards the guest rooms. Definitely, Rowan should be here somewhere.
After a few minutes of walking, I found a room that was heavily guarded. Definitely, it was Rowan. He must have lost trust in Xavier.
I approached them.
The guards suddenly switched to a defensive position.
“Who are you and what do you want?”
Then suddenly, they froze.
“Alpha Gwen?” One of them called while another ran inside the room, perhaps to supply Rowan with the good news that his cousin was now awake.
I waited. The soldiers adjusted back. They couldn't fight me now, seeing that I look so similar to Gwen.
The door opened, and Rowan hurried out of the house. He was all smiles as he looked at me, but suddenly, his expression changed.
It was as if he knew instantly.
“I am not Gwen, but I need to talk to you.”
