“The others would be waiting; we should hurry!” Frankin said suddenly as we started towards the house where the Moonlike pack was.
I stopped walking suddenly and clenched my fist in anger. The elders were also forced to a sudden stop. They looked at me.
“Is something wrong?”
I turned to look at them. “What was all that about?”
“Well, we simply thought you would go back on your words.”
I was shocked.
“Are you kidding me? That was why you went against my decision?”
They cleared their throats one after the other.
“I mean, you were really hesitating. We merely wanted to do what you couldn't.”
I felt the anger slowly turn to rage.
“What did you just say?” I yelled, letting the anger control me for a moment. I entered the demon mood instantly.
The elders’ eyes widened with shock as they regarded me for a moment before they fell to their knees.
“You've shifted,” one of them stammered.
I gripped Franklin by the neck and lifted him up amidst the rest. I stared right at his eyes, but he didn't dare look back.
“I am the Alpha!” I announced in those voices that felt like still waters to the ears, yet still frightening. “If you will not follow my orders, I will give you two options. Leave now or I kill you!”
He shivered. “P_please,” he choked.
I regarded him for a moment before I eventually dropped him. He coughed several times as he finally regained himself.
“I will not condone any betrayal behaviour, and this will be the last time. The Moon-like pack will be washed and cleaned!”
“Y_yes Alpha!” They chorused.
Good!
“Let's go then!” I ordered.
They stood up, and we finally reached the house. We walked inside. Everyone was waiting already.
The first person I saw was Dylan. He was standing with Mercury.
“Are we really leaving now?” June asked suddenly.
My gaze searched around me for a moment. I could see Federick, my mom, and dad. The whole pack was finally complete.
“Are we going to be alright?” Frederick asked
I nodded once. “We will!” I muttered, assuring them.
“Is it true you've shifted? Can we really do it?” June asked again.
I smiled softly and stretched forth my hand. White fur covered it at a quick rate.
Everyone gasped.
“The white wolf has been born!” Someone screamed from the congregation.
“The silver wolf!”
I entered the demon wolf instantly and then returned almost immediately.
“Alpha Autumn!” Someone yelled suddenly, and soon, it became a chant.
I watched them for a moment. I saw the smile on their faces. Everyone was happy. They were finally free.
With the silver wolf on our side, we will not lose any fight again.
A wide smile was on my parent's face as they looked at me with a slow nod.
I raised a hand, and the noise died down instantly.
“We've suffered a lot these past weeks. We've been accused! We've moved and been spat on! But eventually, we were able to survive this long because of your trust in me,” I hesitated and looked at them again. They were listening to me with rapt attention.
It was finally time. I can't believe today would come and so quickly. I thought I was going to leave without shifting. Who would have thought?
“When we started this journey, my wolf was just unlocked, but I hadn't even gotten hold of her. But you were all patient with me. And now, that has paid off.”
“Now, we will move back to our land, and we will expand!”
“Yes!” They chorused.
“We will be unstoppable!” I yelled.
“Yes!” They chorused.
“We will be free!”
Everyone yelled with happiness. I can see people hugging each other; some were jumping up in happiness. Even my parents hugged themselves.
Mercury and Dylan were very happy.
It was all over. We did it! The end!
I watched them for a moment and let them have this joyful moment. They deserve it anyways.
Then, I raised my hand again, letting the noise die down as it had started.
“We will set to leave now. We will arrange ourselves to avoid getting caught unawares. We wouldn't want what had happened last time to repeat itself.”
“How do we arrange ourselves?” Frederick asked softly.
“The soldiers will lead, followed closely by the women, then the children. The elders will stay by the side. Two by the left, three by the right. Then, the rest of the Pack will follow. I will lead from the back.”
Everyone whooped in delight again. I guess everyone is so happy with the fact that they were finally returning to their base.
I am as well. I can't believe this day finally came.
“But we can never relent until we arrive at our destination. We can still meet obstacles on our way, but this time, we will definitely overcome them. Everyone should take their position so we can leave. The elders and the soldiers should coordinate the people so we can leave as early as possible,” I ordered everyone to set to work.
Dylan and Mercury moved to me at this moment.
“You didn't identify our position, though,” Dylan said with a smile.
“Well, I'm staying with the Alpha,” Mercury said quickly.
Dylan laughed. “I will stay with the guards then.”
I nodded quickly. “That is great. We need someone like you to make sure the coast is clear.”
Dylan nodded once, then he hesitated. I knew he had something to say, but he couldn't bring himself to ask it. Probably it's about Xavier, but I didn't even want to talk about it, not now.
“OK then, I will go and help the elders,” he said, bowed slightly, and excused himself.
Thankfully, he didn't say much, and I was internally grateful for that.
When he was gone, Mercury pulled me into a hug. “Thank you so much, Alpha, for allowing me in your pack.”
I smiled and patted her back slightly. We were both in sadness, actually. We have both sacrificed our mate for the greater good.
I couldn't—I couldn't bring myself to kill Rick, knowing he was Mercury's mate.
Maybe, just maybe in the future, they could reconcile. Hopefully because I don't even see how that was going to happen.
Mercury was going to be my beta. And well, Rick was Xavier's beta.
Let's just see what the future holds for us all.
