Autumn
“You've done a nice job here,” Mercury complimented with a wide smile on her face.
The six trance made a little hall already. They seemed to have settled down already.
“Yes, we planned on spending the next twenty years here before we move,” Diamond responded.
“Yes, we've been moving every time, but now that we are even in numbers, it's always very difficult. We needed a temporary place for the meantime,” Pearl explained.
I nodded once. “That's nice, but we are not settling for this as the silver moon-like pack. We are settling big.”
Dylan smiled. “How do you want it to be?”
I thought about it for a moment. “Well, before anything else, I have to make this announcement.”
I looked at Diamond for a moment. “The six trances will be part of the elders.
“Really?” Diamond's eyes widened with shock.
I nodded once. “We have five elders already. So, you will join. Actually, each will have their position depending on what they are good at. I will study you closely to give you a position name,” I explained.
Pearl smiled. “Thank you so much, Alpha. We will gladly accept this.”
It warms my heart to see them smile. I don't believe they were reduced to this. Because of their sin, they will have to serve me as their Alpha. No one should deserve that.
Just as Xavier doesn't deserve to die as well. He made a mistake, just as the six trance did. If the six trance didn't deserve to die, why should he die?
The six priests might have been spared, but their punishment was worse than death. It's the same. I don't even see the difference.
“That's not all. We will be having one more elder,” I said suddenly and looked at Dylan. “Dylan.”
“Oh no, Autumn!” Dylan exclaimed softly.
June laughed. “I can't believe this is happening.”
Dylan laughed and turned to June. “I can't believe I'm worthy to be an elder even when you are still alive.”
“Well, you deserve it. And may I introduce to you my beta?” I gestured towards Mercury.
“I knew it!” Dylan laughed and moved to hug Mercury. She and the rest of the elders exchanged pleasantries before they turned to me again.
“Now, I want the elders to work together. I want a draft. By tomorrow morning, work needs to start. So, we will divide the people into categories. We need to work hard to see the result. We need to build our pack.”
“What are we to do?” Daimond asked.
“Someone should draft a plan. Everyone needs to work. We need some people to cultivate the land, we need some to work on our houses, and the others will make the food for the workers. Everyone needs to work together. Even the children can help with the little things.”
“I will draft the plan, then,” Ruby said quickly.
“Good, and it has to be as fast as it can so we can commence tomorrow, hopefully.”
Everyone made a short bow.
“But for now, we should have a short celebration. There will be a short party. Someone should gather the women. Let's cook!”
“Yes!”
“Food, I like the sound of it!”
“I, Topaz, and Emerald will hunt for food,” Saphire said quickly.
“I will gather the women then,” June said quickly.
“I will do the water,” Ben said quickly. “I and Jude.”
“Oh, these children. What do you want me to do if you've taken all the jobs?” Frederick whined.
Everyone burst into laughter.
“Well, you can just watch the children. We have a lot of them,” Mercury suggested with a smiling face.
“Well, it looks like it's two of us on that,” Pearl said quickly. “I better join you.”
Everyone laughed again. And then, they slowly walked away, each going with a pair.
I released a sigh. It felt like I was burden-free.
“You did great,” a feminine voice said from behind me.
I turned to look at my mother. A smile was on her face as she stretched out her arms to me.
I hesitated briefly before I raced into her. I've missed hugging her so close like this. I've been trying to act strong all this while that I forgot how much I've missed this.
Mother patted me slightly.
Father was smiling beside her.
“I love the woman you have grown into,” he muttered.
I felt proud of myself. I never thought I could make it this far. It has been such a long time.
My mother pulled back after a while, a smile still on her face. “My sweet daughter. It was just yesterday when I was carrying you.”
“Or the day we had to scold the elders for saying you had no wolf. I don't believe you are the Alpha now,” Father uttered.
Yes, right. They were all unbending about it. They thought I would never find my mate. But then, I don't even blame them. They were only scared of their future. I would be if I were in their situation as well.
“Come,” Mother said softly and gently led me to one of the seats. Father took his seat beside us.
“I knew you could do this. I knew you would make us proud.”
I shook my head briefly. “That's because you believed in me.”
Mother's smile widened. “We will always believe in you.”
Father nodded once, in support.
“But Mum, why didn't you tell me about my twin sister? Did you plan on hiding her from me forever? Maybe we could have looked for her together and found her if you had told me.”
My mother looked away for a moment. “I'm sorry, Autumn. I'm very sorry. I thought she was dead already,” her voice went soft. I needed no one to tell me, because I knew she regretted it. “If I knew there was a strong chance that she was alive, I would have said something all this while.”
I nodded once. It wasn't their fault anyways.
But I will find her. I will find my twin sister no matter where she is.
