“Here's the plan,” Ruby said and stretched out a paper to me. “I made sure everyone would work, infact, including the elders. We can't afford to lazy around. The earlier we start, the faster we get done with it,” she explained.
I nodded briefly as I went through it.
“I made a few guards stay behind. Even as we do these things, we would need some people to stay watch and inform us if we are in danger. So, we don't get caught unawares,” she further explained.
“Nice! So, we will have four on shift? Two with the people cultivating the land and the other two with the people building the house? So, a total of eight guards?”
“Yes! The children will help with the food. The rest will help with the people building the house. They might be able to help with things. They don't necessarily have to work, just to assist the workers.”
I nodded again. “This is good. I love it,” I muttered and looked at her. “Good, give this to Diamond and have him implement this. I want everyone to start working immediately. It's a few minutes after eight in the morning already. Also, everyone will stop at the same time. Then, we can continue in the evening again.”
Ruby nodded once. “Yes, Alpha.”
“And_” I said quickly. “Tell the other elders to show up for a quick meeting. Only Diamond is excluded. He should go on with implementing this plan.”
Ruby bowed slightly and eventually stepped out of the room.
A soft knock sounded on the door suddenly.
I looked up. “Yes?”
Dylan walked inside, a wide smile on his face. “Good morning, Alpha.”
I reciprocated the smile. “You are happy this morning.”
“I am! It feels so good to be part of the silver moon like pack.”
I laughed at his joke.
“Anyways, the reason why I'm here is because I've sorted out your soldiers but I would like you to examine them yourself,” he explained.
I nodded once, and walked out of the room.
There were five men waiting in front of the room. They bowed on seeing me.
“Step forward one after the other,” I ordered.
The men looked at themselves for a moment before they started to step out one after the other.
“What's your name?”
“I'm Dave,” the first man responded.
I reached for his hand and concentrated. Then, I saw the images as they flashed past my eyes. I let go almost immediately.
My visions have gotten better. I guess the more I use my power, the better I perfect them.
“Next!” I muttered.
Then, I did the same for the rest of them.
“What's the outcome, Alpha?”
“Dee, do you have a family?” I asked suddenly, ignoring Dylan's question.
Dee looked up. “What?”
“Where is your mate?”
Dee looked at the rest of the men for a moment. When he looked at me again, his eyes went wide with shock.
“You are broken, Dee. You can't work for me with that kind of spirit. If you can't clear what is happening to you, I will suggest you stay back.”
“What!”
I looked at Dylan. “The rest are qualified.”
Dylan smiled. “Good.”
“I'm on my way to the meeting room. We have a meeting with the Elders.”
“I will escort you then,” Dylan said quickly and we started towards the meeting room, with the rest of the guards, only Dee stayed behind.
He still seemed shocked at what had just happened.
Everyone was waiting already except Diamond.
They bowed with respect.
“A good morning to us all.”
And everyone started to throw the good morning back at me, with a smile plastered across their faces. It was happiness, pure it.
“So, I asked Ruby to get across to you all because of the adjustments we have. The elders of the Silver moon pack wouldn't just be here to help in decision making. You all must have one tangible thing you are doing for the pack. You are serving the pack, not me, the Alpha,” I stopped to look at their expressions before I continued.
“Diamond is on the way to implement the plan already but the rest get a job too.”
“What must be done, Alpha?” Topaz asked.
“I have made this decision based on what you all did yesterday, with just little adjustments.”
Everyone nodded at this.
“Topaz, Sapphire and Emerald should be the one to hunt for food. They will always provide the pack of foods to eat till we are able to depend on our farm products. I give them the permission to take as many helpers as they can in the pack. So, it wouldn't just be only you. And whoever you take, you should inform Diamond, so they will be exempted from the plan.”
“Yes Alpha,” Topaz, Sapphire and Emerald chorused.
“Likewise, Ben and Jude should work on the water. We have a stream just ahead of us here but we will still need water as close as we can get. Now this is equally a very important task as in fact the people building houses will need a lot of them. So, you can also get people to join your teams. You can get as many as you can because you won't only be providing the pack with water to drink but also to build.”
“Yes, we understand Alpha,” Ben and Jude responded.
“Frederick,” I started and looked at him. “Actually, you and Diamond should work on making sure the people work in the Silver moon like pack’s interest. No slacking. So, you should join Diamond in that.”
Frederick nodded several times.
“And June,” I looked at her, with a smile. “You know how we do. You will handle the cooking. But then that's until we are finally done with the majority of the houses. By then, people would be given the freedom to cook whatever they want and by themselves but now, we don't have the time. All strength must be channelled towards setting Silver moon like pack straight. So, you handle how the foods that Topaz, Emerald and Sapphire got can be processed for eating.”
June smiled. “Trust me on that.”
I do, actually.
“Alright then. Emerald and Pearl,” I tried to think of something. “Well, we will still need to monitor the children, especially the younger ones. We don't want anything happening to them. Some will help with the plan but there are obviously some that are too young to do anything. So, Emerald and Pearl should handle it. And, I'm sorry but you won't be getting any helpers for that because we need all the extra hands.”
Emerald laughed. “That's fair though. I just hope Topaz and June hurry up because this old man is hungry already.”
Everyone burst into laughter.
I looked at Franklin when the whole thing died down. “I don't remember you getting any work yesterday. Is there anything you think you might help us with?”
Franklin hesitated briefly as if thinking about it.
“I have no idea. Perhaps I could help with securing the land.”
“Well, that will be my job,” Dylan said quickly.
“Won't you be protecting the Alpha?”
I shook my head briefly, with a smile. “I can protect myself actually. But that aside, we need all the hands we can get. No extra hands anywhere, including these new guards that Dylan just got me.”
Franklin nodded once. “What then can I do?”
“Is there any skill of yours? Something you are good at?”
Franklin looked away for a moment. “Well, I do have a skill but I don't think it's important here. I can only make clothes.”
That makes it even better.
“Nice! What an important task you have, Franklin! Aren't we all going to change our clothes?
“I feel like I'm going to get sick wearing the same clothes all day,” June said suddenly.
“Yes, right. Clothes are as important as food,” Emerald commented.
Franklin seemed to smile.
“Good then, that's resolved. Franklin will handle the clothes. He should get as many helpers as he wants too. Whoever needs a change of clothes should meet up with him so he can take your measurements and get ahead with it.”
Good.
“And with this, the meeting has come to an end.”
I dismissed everyone except Dylan. I turned to look at him.
“Where is Mercury? I haven't seen her since morning.”
“I have no idea but I can find out.”
I shook my head quickly. “Oh, you don't need that. Let her be. Perhaps she has a lot to clear. When she is ready, she will come back.”
I don't want to forget the fact that we left a lot behind when we left Ocean Howl Pack. Mercury was forced to leave her mate as well. It must be telling on her already.
I can't even seem to be able to take Xavier off my mind. But it has to happen. Xavier was my past now, I have to focus on the future.
“Autumn,” Dylan called suddenly, which was weird because he hasn't addressed me with my name for a long time now.
I looked at him, with raised brows. “Yes?”
“You didn't kill Xavier, did you?”
