Alpha King Xavier - Chapter 21: Chapter 21

Autumn
I stared at the huge amount of food set in front of me, and I can confidently say I'd lost my appetite.
It felt like they were trying to pump me up before I would get killed, fill me with litter, and dispose of me.
“You are done with all your training,” Tito sif suddenly, after long-lasting hours of practicing how to act like Gwen.
I would say it wasn't all that difficult but I was still scared. A single mistake and my head will be off.
“You can now eat. Gwen's parents will be here in less than three hours,” she finished.
My heart made a loud thud in my chest at that announcement. Then, it started beating fast.
“Is that understood?” She yelled, in a bit of a fierce voice when I didn't respond quickly.
I nodded once. “Yes.”
The door opened suddenly, and the air around me was quickly filled with that same rich dark chocolate.
All the maids stepped aside, with their heads bowed. I stood up as well and followed suit.
Tito turns to the Alpha. “She’s all prepared now,” she informs him.
In the next few seconds, I felt the Alpha gaze on me.
“I want to see,” he voiced out, his voice not only thick but filled with a kind of emotion I couldn't distinguish. The sound of it made my heart skip again.
Tito bowed slightly and turned to me. “Show the Alpha all you have learned.”
I heard the order but my legs felt too stiff to move. There's just something about this Alpha, his demeanor, that seems to make my hair stand on end.
A minute passed without me doing anything and the Alpha turned to Tito. “Why isn't she moving?” He yelled, further escalating my situation.
I jumped up slightly and my legs suddenly felt like jelly.
“I don't_” Tito started suddenly, helplessly, then she rushed closer and slapped me. “What nonsense do you think you are performing?”
I felt dizzy instantly, and the spot hurt.
“What did I tell you about obeying orders?” She barked and raised her hands again.
I knew she was going to slap me again and maybe make her girls beat me with wolfbane.
I should have known better than to refuse her orders. Now, I'm going to be severely punished for it.
I closed my eyes and anticipated it. But it didn't come. Instead, it felt like that dark chocolate scent got even nearer.
When I opened my eyes, Tito's hand was hanging in the air, being supported by the Alpha.
Did the Alpha just stop her?
“What did I tell you about hitting her face!” He roared, and the ground shook right under us.
This is the second time he would be making that effect. The first time was when I first appeared in front of him. I understood his behaviour then but this one is unexplainable.
“A_alpha,” Tito stammered, with fear vivid in her eyes.
The Alpha let go of her hand eventually, with a ragged sigh. “If this happens again, you will be severely punished for it!” He warned sternly.
Tito bowed slightly. “Yes, Alpha. I will be very careful.”
“Good,” he muttered. His voice was so low and it almost seemed like he didn't say anything.
“You are dismissed!”
Everyone hurried out of the room. So, I wasn't the only one who had such a huge fear of the Alpha. Apparently, everyone does, including all his Alphas. This is why one of them would plot something so harsh and wicked against him, in secret because they can't overpower him physically.
That actually makes a lot of sense!
“Tito said you are done with your training and I'm eager to see what you can do and if you are even as good as she spoke of,” a slight hesitation. “I've sent them out for you, even though you might need to act like Gwen in front of them too. They are the maids I trust the most and would be the ones with you when Gwen's parents get here,” he explained.
I suck in a breath. What Xavier didn't know is that I wasn't scared of Tito, I was scared of him. My legs had refused to move just when he came in.
“If you do this right, I will make you organize the mini party for Gwen's parents. You needed a change, didn't you? At least you will be able to go anywhere in the pack house, within and outside if you are the organizer.”
That is juicy! That is exactly what I need! I just want fresh air to think it all through. I just want to be off the shelf even if it's for a few minutes. Handling such a huge program would give me what I want.
I could send the maids around or even leave the park house, for another few minutes. Aside from that, perhaps I could see things I'm not supposed to see. All the Alphas will definitely be present at the party. I could find clues too.
“What do you say?” He tugged slightly, with a silly smile on his face.
He actually knew what I wanted. He's not only a devil, he is also sly. But why is he making a deal? He’s known for commanding and all I have seen for the past three days I've been here is that the Alpha has no time to bargain with people weaker than him.
Then, what's happening now?
I groaned inwardly and sat. It didn't matter anyway. I will just use this to my advantage. I need it!
However, I was a bit startled that my legs complied at last.
I took an apple from the table nevertheless, looked up at Xavier, and smiled widely. I made it big and convincing.
Then, I stood and rushed closer to him. “Do you know that this apple is from the best source?” I hesitated briefly, swallowed hard, and continued, “Xavier? I doubt my mum had tasted this kind.”
It felt weird to call him by his name but it was necessary.
Xavier gathered his brows amazingly. I didn't know if I was pleasing him or not.
“Also! I suddenly want to start an Apple business. I would definitely earn a lot!” I said, trying to sound excited, like Gwen. “And if you are our pack member, you will get apples for free every day. Isn't that enticing?”
“Besides, when my parents come, I want us to have an apple as the only appetizer!” I hesitated again, as if thinking of something. “I could think of more actually, but that means I will have to be an organiser. How do you see that?” I moved to stand in front of him, with a huge smile and my hands spread wide.
“What are you doing?” He yelled suddenly, startling me. “You are supposed to act like Gwen, not remind me of her!”
I was confused.
“These are words she has said before! You are not supposed to repeat them!”
I was even more confused.
Tito and Elixir told me how Gwen manipulates words, especially whenever she wants something. And how she starts with some questions. Also, they told me everything she loves. She likes apples, so it was the only thing I could use for Xavier to believe I was indeed ready to pretend to be Gwen.
What have I done wrong then?
Within a twinkle of an eye, the Alpha was suddenly holding my throat and squeezing the life out of me. I couldn't breathe and I struggled against him helplessly.
His eyes were bloodshot red and filled with rage. I have never seen him like that before. He looked more like the devil now.
“Tell me a reason why I shouldn't snap your neck off right now. Tell me why I should believe you really didn't hold Gwen hostage!” He roared again, and the little frames at the wall dropped at the impact.
I've never felt so scared in my entire life!
