Perhaps she was kidnapped by people she has offended.
I hadn't looked in that direction all this while. I had always thought it could be from Xavier's side.
“And_” Elixir stopped suddenly and looked up at me.
“What's it? Tell me!” I demanded.
Elixir hesitated. “I'm sorry but I don't know if you are supposed to know this. I'm the only one that knows. I didn't want it spreading around was why I never talked about it.”
I was anxious. “Tell me!”
She took a step closer as if she was scared that someone else might hear us.
“I couldn't sleep that night. So, I decided to stroll around. Then, I saw the Luna going to the barn,” she stopped slightly and squeezed her face as if already regretting she was talking about it.
“Go on, Elixir,” I egged her on.
She swallowed harder. “Then, I followed her. Only because I was scared she might be in trouble,” she added the last part hurriedly. Maybe she thought I was going to blame her or something. “I should not have! I should not!”
Gosh! What could Elixir have seen that is so difficult to say?
I took a step closer, filling the little place between us. I held her slightly.
“Tell me and I promise you that no one will know about it. It's just my way of finding Gwen or who might have done this to her,” I explained.
She nodded once and looked up at me again. “I saw her meet with someone,” she swallowed harder but continued. “A guy and they_” she stopped again. “_had sex together.”
What!
My mouth went open in shock.
“I didn't wait till the end of it. If I had and she had caught me, I would have been dead.”
I couldn't believe it. Why would the Luna cheat on the Alpha King? He doesn't even know but goes on fighting over her like she is innocent or a rare gem.
“Also,” Elixir continued. “It wasn't the only one I witnessed. Most times whenever we go to the market and she stops by, it is to meet and have sex with random guys. She caught me however on one occasion.”
What the heck?
“We had to go to the market to buy some furs. The Luna told me she would like a quick bath only for me to catch her making out with two guys in the bathtub. Two men!” She stressed with pain.
I'm most dumbfounded. What! Now she does two men?
“But how come she didn't kill you when you know her secrets already?”
“Well, she promised to have me killed when she returned. But she hasn't,” she muttered and looked away. “It was how I was actually able to find out you weren't her.”
Now, everything is making sense. But I suddenly remembered something.
“That place…how is the place? Do you know who owns it?”
She looked up again and her eyes balls went wide. “She owns it. The Luna has a lot of houses around. But she chose to give it out. The daughter of the owner is in fact a maid here.”
My heart itched.
“Is it Tiana?”
Elixir’s eyes widened with shock. “How did you know?”
I faltered. I don't believe this. That the wolf the Alpha King killed wasn't even there to check for the mark in the first place. He was probably there because Gwen hadn't reached out to him for a while. He must have been one of the Luna’s sex toys.
I can't believe this. It's just so hard to believe.
I moved to the bed slowly and sat. So, this is what Gwen's parents meant by I've changed. Gwen is the most wicked Luna I have ever come across.
“I'm so sorry.”
I released a sigh. “It's not your fault, Elixir and you are dismissed.”
Elixir hesitated briefly, then bowed and stepped out.
I was perturbed. The Alpha King deserves to know all these. How can he start a real investigation if he doesn't even know all these?
And what am I supposed to do now? How am I even supposed to convince the Alpha?
He doesn't even trust me. There's no way he would trust the words I say. And if I bring Elixir into this, she might die.
But then, if Gwen is found eventually, Elixir will die as well.
Yet, I can't think of dragging her into this. No one deserves to die. Gosh, what am I supposed to do then?
Well, at first. I have to think of Tiana. I need to talk to her and confirm all Elixir has said.
Since Tiana is on the brink of getting a judgment, it wouldn't do anything if she's the one who confessed. Then, I will do all I can to get her out of it. Besides, none of it is her fault to begin it.
No innocent person is meant to suffer.
I got up and walked out of the room. I turned to my maids.
“Do any of you know where Tiana is being held?”
They looked at themselves at the same time before they nodded.
“We do,” they agreed.
“Take me there,” I ordered.
Well, seems like I've been ordering people a lot these days. Now that I have the backings of the Alpha King, I'm a bit relaxed.
We walked for a while and deeper into the pack house. It's unlike my parents' cell. I guess the Alpha intentionally kept them separately.
We entered the dungeon and the maids stopped walking to look at me.
“Please, wait here while we ask the men where she is,” one of the maids explained.
I nodded once.
They barely walked a few steps when a loud yelp erupted from a direction.
“Help me!” The voice yelled again.
Instinct kicked in and we found ourselves running in the direction but the guards got there before us.
It was Tiana's father. He was kneeling beside Tiana.
“She's not breathing! Help me! She's cold!” He yelled.
The men rushed closer to him.
I could only stare, with eyes gone gobsmacked.
I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
The guards looked up at one another and shook their heads briefly.
One of my maids moved closer to inspect what was happening. She soon moved back to me.
She hesitated briefly. “Ma’am, the girl is dead.”
How? Why?
