"Her damn breathing is low!" I yelled with frustration at the doctor.
Even though he had done nothing wrong, I just couldn't help it.
"Alright Alpha. We will do our best," Albert explained as I placed Autumn safely on the bed and stepped back.
"Nothing must happen to her, Albert. You have to do all you can to make sure she wakes up. If not, your life is on the line!" I said harshly.
My head was reeling at one side and anger was bolting me up at another.
Rick rushed inside. "What the heck happened?" He didn't wait for my reply, as his gaze found Autumn. "Is she alright?"
"I will make sure she is," Albert assured and I stepped out.
Rick rushed after me. "What happened exactly?"
I stopped suddenly. The anger was eating me up inside and I had to caution myself several times. But I still couldn't stop myself from clenching my fists.
"What happened?" I asked him instead, ignoring his question.
He released a sigh. "Tiana is dead."
For a moment, all the anger in me evaporated. I was shocked.
"How? She was fine when I asked you to bring her father. What happened?"
Rick shook his head briefly. "I can't say, Alpha. We can't even trace the cause of her death."
Rick was right. A lot of things don't add up. There's definitely someone amidst my pack that's working against me.
But who could it be?
I turned around without another word and started towards the meeting room.
"What happened to Autumn?"
I didn't respond and instead stepped inside the room. Tito and the rest of the girls were inside, on their knees.
Rick looked down at them and instantly knew what had occurred.
"Fuck!" He muttered behind me.
I ignored his remark and moved closer to Tito.
"What did I tell you, Tito, concerning Autumn?"
Tito didn't respond.
"Tell me!" I yelled, forcing my Alpha aura on her.
The anger in me has slowly transformed into rage. It was boiling in me, and if care wasn't taken, I could kill them this instance.
"I punished her!" Tito rushed out.
"And what was the order you received?" My voice sounded like thunder even to my own ears. I knew I was at my limit but even at that, I couldn't stop it. No, I didn't want to stop it.
My wolf was in fact very mad at one side that someone was hurting our mate.
But I had a strict order which was ignored.
"I_you said," she stammered. "But I saw how she reacted at the party and the fact that she was going against what we had told her not to. So, I decided to punish her to avoid more mistakes in the future," she explained eventually.
Really?
In a minute, I was standing. In the next minute, Tito was in my grasp. I was holding her in one hand, while the other hand dug into her heart in an attempt to pull it out.
She yelled in pain as I almost touched it.
"Xavier!" Rick yelled suddenly, forcing me out of the void I had forced myself into.
I stopped, just before I could pull her heart out.
"Please, Alpha. Please forgive me! Please!" She beseeched with tears all over her face.
Rick rushed to me and pulled at my hand slightly. This was the first time he would be calling me by my name in front of others.
"Alpha, please, let her go!" He beseeched softly.
I groaned inwardly and released her at once. My hands were shaking. I was still mad.
I rushed a blow into the wall and the area went deep.
"How dare you chose to ignore your Alpha's order!" I yelled again, at no one in particular.
The girls shuddered in fear while Tito continued to cry, with her head bowed.
Her cries didn't even seem to move me.
"Here's my judgment," I started suddenly. "Tito will be banished," I announced.
Tito looked up at me, with eyes gone gobsmacked.
"You are not to come back unless I ask you to. From today henceforth, you are declared as a rogue! And if you step feet into this pack, you will be killed!"
"No!" Tito cried. "Please! Don't do this to me! Alpha!"
I ignored her cries of pleas. "And the rest of the girls."
The girls have started to cry as well.
"I can pardon you a bit because you were only doing what Tito asked you to. So, you will be punished. You have been reduced to the lowest of maids. And you will be in prison until I say otherwise!" I finished and walked out of the room.
I could still hear their cries of pleas but I ignored it.
The next moment I looked up, I was right in front of the physician's room.
I hesitated briefly. Autumn has to be alright.
"Xavier," Rick called, suddenly appearing beside me. "Alpha!" He stressed.
I looked at him.
"Calm down please!"
No, I can't calm down. I don't even want to.
How can I be calm when Autumn is on the verge of death?
"The wolfbane could kill her. She doesn't even have a fucking wolf!" I rushed out, the words angering me.
Maybe I should have ordered Tito to be killed. I could have ordered the worst death penalty ever.
Rick gulped down. "She will be fine."
I turned away from him, my mind on Autumn. The doctor has better treat her or a lot of people are going with her.
"Xavier," he called again, bothered.
The door opened suddenly, and Albert walked out.
"How is she?"
Albert smiled softly. "She's currently sleeping. She will be fine. She's in fact stronger than I thought," he revealed.
A sigh of relief escaped me and then, the anger subsided.
"I told you she was going to be fine."
I ignored Rick's remark and walked inside. I wouldn't be so sure if I didn't see her and confirm myself.
I have to be certain she's out of harm's way.
She was indeed asleep. However, her face made a contour that I've been familiar with. All in all, her mouth was in a pout. And for a moment, the only thing I could see was the lips.
I want to kiss her. I want her in my arms.
