                    Autumn
“Get hold of her!” A shriek reached my ears and I was suddenly aware of my surroundings.
My eyes widened with shock and fear as I stared ahead at the altar. There were five witches there, dressed weirdly and they were looking right at me.
“No!” I muttered and turned around to run away but I couldn't. I seemed to have frozen.
“Get her!” one of them screamed again.
I tried again, to move my legs but it suddenly looked like they were being controlled by someone, perhaps by the witches still staring at me. It's the only reason to explain why I desperately want to escape, yet I can't.
Three men advanced forward and grabbed me. I was forced to look at the altar again.
“You will see her, Gwen. You will see her!” The voice muttered, shocking me for another moment.
I am Autumn, not Gwen.
Suddenly, I started to shiver. I shuddered so hard that I couldn't stop myself.
“Autumn!” a deep and suddenly familiar voice called out and my eyes fluttered open.
I stared up at Xavier's brown eyes for a moment and realized he had been trying to wake me up. He must have also been the one shaking me.
His brows arched in concern. “You had a bad dream.” It wasn't a question, it was more like a statement.
I nodded once. “I_” I tried to speak but my throat suddenly felt dry and patchy. “I had a very bad one,” I said finally and watched his expression for a moment.
“Tell me,” he sounded concerned.
I closed my eyes for a moment instead, contemplating. My dream doesn't at all make sense. How could I be Gwen in my dream?
I reached for him instead, in an attempt to steady my heavy breathing. He seemed to have misread me because he pulled me to his chest.
His arms went around my body as he steadied me so that I was comfortable.
I couldn't deny the feeling stirring in my chest, even though we'd had a marathon of sex. It kind of feels like I'm unable to help myself whenever he's near me.
But come to think of it. I have been having weird dreams and seeing weird things lately. Perhaps I'm thinking too much. But what was I supposed to do? I needed to find Gwen as soon as possible.
I closed my eyes against Xavier's chest and relaxed.
When it was about a few minutes later and I was fully relaxed, I pulled back slightly and looked up at him. “May I talk to you, Alpha?”
He made a nod of his head but he didn't let me go.
“May I have the note? There's someone I need to compare it with,” I explained.
“Who?”
I hesitated briefly, thinking again. “Elixir.”
His eyes twitched. “You suspect her?”
I hesitated briefly before I shook my head. I was confused about what to say. Was I supposed to tell him I met with Mercury and she told me not to trust anyone?
He let go of me so fast that I didn't even see it coming. His previous caring attitude was gone, only to be replaced by a cold dismeanour. It looked as if he wasn't the one holding me close to his chest a few minutes ago.
He stood, growing too tall for my neck. Looking at his face hurt my neck.
“Do you think you are still alive because I'm afraid to kill you?”
I didn't respond.
“You are alive because I chose to. The least you can do is find a way to bring back Gwen. Don't forget that your parents are still locked up.”
I dragged my breath and looked away. How could I forget that?
“Tell me everything!” He ordered in a thick voice.
I swallowed harder. I have no choice.
I got off the bed slowly, dragging the blanket with me so I didn't stand in front of the Alpha naked. Even though the thought of it excited me. But no, this is a serious matter.
“I met Mercury a few days ago,” I started. “She used to be my close maid after I saved her. She_” I paused slightly and regarded Xavier's expression for a moment, noting if there was a change already but there was nothing. Not yet.
“She told me not to trust anyone especially Elixir because she had been monitoring her and something seemed weird about her. That was why I wanted to check and confirm.”
He went quiet for a moment and I wondered what was going through his head at the moment.
“Who's there?” He called out suddenly.
A guard walked inside, with head bowed.
My heart hitched as I wondered what Xavier was doing.
“Bring me Elixir!” He ordered and my eyes widened with shock.
“Yes Alpha,” the guard bowed and stepped out.
I took a step closer to Xavier with urgency. “What are you doing?”
He turned away, ignoring me. He picked up the note which I just noticed was on the bed and walked to his bookshelf.
I was forced to follow him.
“You know what, Autumn. If this is true and she's not only suspicious but she's connected to Gwen's disappearance, I will_” he trailed off, picked a book, and placed the note in between it. Then, he turned to look at me. “I will release your parents.”
My heart skipped a beat. What is Xavier doing?
“So, pray, Autumn to whoever you believe in. Though, I'm not sure the moon goddess is ready to accept your prayer,” he said with sarcasm.
I was too shocked to say something. I couldn't even move from where I was. I didn't tell the Alpha that I was sure about the allegations. Why is he being hasty?
“Alpha, Elixir is here!” A voice announced.
Well, it doesn't matter anyway. If Elixir is innocent, it will be to my benefit. And if she's not, then my parents will be released.
Fair enough.
Xavier took a notepad and a pen. He moved towards the door.
“Let her in!” he invited.
The door opened almost immediately, and Elixir walked inside slowly, with her head bowed.
Xavier dropped the notepad on the floor in front of her, with a pen.
“I heard from the Luna what had happened to one of her maids. Write down all you can remember since the Luna is too shocked to even say a word.”
Elixir hesitated briefly. “I_” she started.
“You weren't there?”
“I was there, Alpha and I will write everything I know!” She said quickly and dropped to the floor. One could see that she was frightened. Who wouldn't be frightened of the powerful Xavier?
She picked up the pen and started to jot down all she could remember.
When she finished, she got up slowly, careful not to look up at the Alpha. “This is all I can remember, Alpha,” she explained and stretched the notepad to him
Xavier took the notepad and nodded once. “You are dismissed. I will let you know when I need you again.”
Elixir bowed and stepped out.
On cue, I took the book that Xavier had safely placed the note in the other time and moved closer to him, still dragging my blanket with me.
“Now let's see…” he looked excited as he took the note from me.
