The door opened and Augustine walked inside.
I hesitated as I regarded him for a moment. Augustine used to be one of my most trusted Alpha but after the issue with Gwen, I found myself staying far from him.
The only person I want to trust to solve this issue is Rick and that's because we have been together since we were young. He's the only one I can trust fully.
Who knows? One of these Alphas could be the one behind Gwen's disappearance.
But what about the maids? Tito knew everything about Autumn. Why do I trust Tito and not Augustine? Because she doesn't have power but Augustine does.
He hesitated briefly and bowed slightly. “Alpha! I saw your message. Is everything alright?”
I didn't reply. I walked past him and out of the room.
I must not take a chance. Augustine must never see through me. He's good at doing that. He's just like Elixir. Never would I have thought she was the spy.
But well, until I find out who she works for, I will not trust any Alpha.
However, the only person I suspect is Philip. But he hasn't made any suspicious moves all this while. I've had Rick tail him so many times. Unless he's aware we were tailing him, then he's innocent.
“Alpha!” Augustine called from behind, concerned. He followed me though.
I stepped inside the prison and took a ragged breath. I have been punishing innocent people all this while. Anthony and his family were truly innocent.
The moon goddess! She's playing me!
“Where's Rose?” I yelled suddenly, as my fist clenched beside me.
I was in haste and did not mind the anger building inside me; it felt like I was going to burst.
I was eventually played by the moon goddess. I hated my mate and made her suffer for what she didn't do.
I don't know how I'm supposed to feel. More like a loser. No, not yet!
I won't back down until it's the end.
“Here, my king!” Rose said suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts.
Augustine hurried closer. “What is happening?”
Rick walked inside just at the appropriate time. “Autumn is dead!” He announced it to everyone hearing.
I turned away as if I wasn't concerned and instead looked ahead at Anthony and his wife, who were being dragged close to me.
“Autumn? Who is that?” Augustine demanded.
“What! What did you say happened to my daughter!” Anthony's wife yelled suddenly and raced closer to me. I could see the sadness on her face, scent it.
“What! You've found Anthony's daughter?” Augustine was shocked.
“You think you could successfully hide her forever and I couldn't find her?” I demanded in a deep voice.
I was intentionally ignoring Augustine so he would see how angry I was. He would be the one to tell the other Alphas all that has happened here.
This was why I needed Philip initially. I needed a camera in person.
“How dare you!” Anthony's wife yelled and sobbed.
“Do you think I care?” I combat. “Your daughter is gone, Anthony. Now, it's left to you. Tell me where my Luna is and I will spare you!”
Two hours left!
Anthony went silent for a moment and suddenly started to laugh. He laughed so hard one would have thought he was happy.
“You are worse than your father, Xavier. Your Rage will be the death of you!” He said instead.
I was supposed to get angry but in this case, I wasn't at all.
Anthony was right. I have been blinded by my rage so far. If my rage wouldn't be the death of me, I don't know what would be.
I take a step back. “Give them the poison.”
“No, wait, my King!” Augustine said urgently. “Why are you killing them now?”
“Because _” I turned to him finally, remembering to show how angry I was. “They refuse to talk. Besides, I made a promise to Gwen's parents. Anthony and his family will die when I find his daughter.”
Augustine's mouth formed a wry line in acknowledgment of a tactical error. He stepped back eventually.
The guards placed the bowl of poison in front of them.
Anthony's wife was still crying and I silently hoped she would stop. If something happens to her, I don't think Autumn would ever forgive me.
Anthony was the first to take the bowl of poison. A dark frown was on his face as he gulped down the content.
One and a half minutes left.
I turned to his wife. His wife was making things difficult for me. Will she drink already? Her daughter has barely two hours left.
“How dare you kill my daughter? How dare you kill such an innocent girl?” She sobbed in self-pity. Then she looked up at me. “You will never find her!” Her facial expression changed drastically and it felt like she was swearing.
“You will never find your Luna! Because we are not the ones that took her. The culprit is in your midst!” She finished, took the bowl, and drank it all up.
Anthony was also the first to cough up blood, followed by his wife.
I turned to Rick. “The moon-like pack will be slaves starting from today onward!” I announced and turned to Augustine. “The moon-like pack is of no more now!”
Augustine bowed slightly. “What of the Luna? Where is she?”
I swallowed hard on the question. I hadn't really thought it through.
“She left this morning. She got angry at the Alpha for well, something private between them,” Rick said quickly.
Thanks to him.
“And I must hurry up to get her. She's pregnant and can't even shift. I have to bring her back home safe and sound.”
“Yes, Alpha. But before you go, I would like to see Autumn with my own eyes. There are a lot of rumours circulating in the palace already. We need to quench it.”
I scoffed. I had already predicted this.
“Rick, where is she?”
“She's currently in the field.”
“Good, because everyone must see her before you dispose of her to the wild animals.”
Augustine looked shocked as if he wasn't expecting what I had just said.
I smiled softly and turned to Rick. “Lead us there.”
One hour remaining! Autumn has just one hour to go.
