The horse neighed several times as we galloped through the road.
Come to think of it, it's fun.
Horse racing is fun.
Suddenly, I realized I was not the only one on the road. That strong scent of mint has joined me.
“Slow down, Autumn!” Xavier called out.
It's quite so amazing how Xavier seemed to be able to switch between those names as fast as he could without making a mistake.
He sure is good and I give him credit for that.
I ignored him actually and hit the horse for it to go faster.
“Autumn! What are you doing?” He yelled as he finally rode the horse to my right side.
“Nothing? I'm enjoying this horse ride!” I yelled back.
I'm unable to see his expression but I know it will be golden.
“Damn, Autumn!” He swore. He sounded frustrated.
Soon enough, we could see the palace building from afar.
I smiled at this. I seem to be doing good and I'm proud of myself.
Xavier didn't say anything again. Perhaps he thought I wanted to run away. Would I sincerely run and leave my parents behind?
Well, I can as well say that was why he kept them in the first place. That would make me think whenever I think of making a mistake.
But why should I run? When he's my key. He will unleash his enemy unknowingly. It will all be to my advantage.
I slowed down, magically. I never knew I had this in me. How was I able to do it?
I looked at Xavier moving beside me. A dark frown was on his face.
Then, Rick joined us. He moved to my left side. I looked at him and remembered that he had smiled the day I was almost killed by the Alpha.
Could he be the person that Elixir works for? If he is, then Elixir should know it's me and not Gwen.
Rick looked up at me. Our gaze held and locked for a moment. I smiled and looked away.
We entered the palace, and someone moved closer to help me get off the horse, but I got off it effortlessly.
I regarded the palace for another moment. It felt like ages since I've seen how it looked.
But then I think I will be spending more days of my life here.
“The Luna is back!” Someone announced suddenly.
I looked up at Augustine. A wide smile was on his face.
Xavier moved closer to me and wrapped an arm around my waist to pull me closer.
Electric feeling coursed through my body at our contact.
This stupid body response.
“Yes,” a smile was on Xavier's face as well. “I told you I would bring her back, didn't I?”
Augustine smiled and bowed slightly.
Xavier gently walked me inside.
When I saw we were away from everyone and no one was around except for Rick obviously, I pulled away from him.
He raised his brows amazingly like he didn't believe what I was doing.
“What are you doing?” He muttered in a thick voice.
I was actually expecting him to get angry.
I didn't respond.
He groaned but didn't say any more words. We stepped inside his room with Rick.
Xavier turned to look at me the moment he had closed the door. “What was the stuff you were performing earlier on?”
I frowned. “I'm not going against the deal,” I said as a matter of fact. “I don't belong to you, Alpha Xavier. And I think I'm free to do whatever I want as long as it doesn't jeopardize the greater good.”
Xavier paused, shocked.
Rick laughed and apologized immediately.
Xavier was forced to look at Rick for a moment before he turned his attention back to me.
“Don't mess this up, Autumn. You promised me!”
I nodded quickly. “I won't! But I'm here as your partner in this deal, not as someone guilty of kidnapping your Luna. So, I have the right now, don't I?”
He hesitated as if thinking about it. He released a ragged sigh eventually. “You do.”
I nodded again. “Thank you, King Xavier. You are the most merciful,” I said sarcastically. “And if I have no use for you, I would like to leave now.”
He groaned and looked away. “Ok, you can leave.”
I rolled my eyes and stepped out of the room.
Now that I'm back with a different mindset, I'm seeing everything differently.
But then, the first thing is to set the table right. Autumn is kind but Gwen is harsh. A little harshness wouldn't be bad, especially to Elixir.
If Rick is truly the one that Elixir works for, then I would prefer to find out myself. Xavier wouldn't believe it anyway since he refused to believe anything about Gwen. I guess he loves her so much.
Several maids were waiting for me in front of my room. Just as I stepped closer, they all went on their knees.
“Welcome back, Luna!” They chorused.
I regarded them for a moment.
“Elixir?” I called.
No one responded.
I turned to look at the maids, feigning annoyance. “Where's Elixir?”
“We don't know!”
“Really?” I laughed wickedly. I must say this is really fun. “Get me Elixir now!” I yelled.
They all scampered around as if they were looking for a pin.
I walked to the remaining two maids who weren't foolish enough to join in the search.
“There's a maid. She's Mercury. Get her for me,” I ordered.
They bowed and walked away.
I didn't enter my room. I waited for them to bring Elixir. This wouldn't be interesting if I entered.
And seeing how scared the maids were, I'm sure they will bring her to me soon. Everyone is scared of Gwen.
This was why Xavier changed the maids that were supposed to be serving me. Now, they are back.
“My queen! This is Elixir!” One of the maids announced suddenly.
I turned towards the path from where the voice came from and a feeling of happiness surged through me.
Elixir was yet to see that we knew who she was. A huge smile was on her face as she walked closer.
She bowed slightly. “My queen, are you ok?”
I moved closer, filling the space between us. Her pretense smile disgusts me.
I regarded her for a moment. Everything about her suddenly disgusts me.
“Do you want me to escort you inside?” She asked, with an expression that showed she actually thought it was me, Autumn.
She's very stupid for asking.
The next thing I did wasn't something I thought I was going to do.
I hit her across the face, so fast and full of vigor that she fell from the impact.
Elixir's eyes widened with shock as she looked up at me.
