“Why were you not here?” I yelled. “Did you think I was going to wait for you or give you special treatment?”
Like I have been doing.
Elixir got up quickly and went on her knee. “I'm so sorry, my queen.”
I released a sigh. “You will be punished.”
She looked up and her eyes widened. “I'm so sorry, my queen! Please, forgive me!”
I rolled my eyes as if I couldn't contain my anger. Now I'm behaving just like Alpha Xavier.
But it doesn't matter. Now I have a clear mission.
“Lock her up with no food for 24hrs. Well, she can have water,” I ordered.
Two maids rushed forward to grab her.
“Please, my queen. I'm so sorry. Please!” Elixir pleaded until she was eventually dragged out of my sight.
With her behavior, there was no way we would have suspected her. Gosh, she acts so innocent.
I released a sigh and turned to the rest of the maids. “Get me something to eat.”
They all bowed. “Alright, my queen,” they chorused.
I nodded once and stepped inside my room.
I closed the door and regarded the room for a moment. I stared hard at the chair.
And then, it slid towards me, then back.
How easy I am getting with this power and how happy it makes me feel.
The more powerful I get, the less fear I feel for the Alpha. And with less fear, I can finally think with my head and not allow emotions to run me.
Besides, now I can be able to fight. Before, there was no way I would have won if I had fought him. I have a chance now, a big one.
“My queen!” Someone called suddenly. “We've brought Mercury.”
I turned around, shocked. So fast.
“Let her in!” I ordered and moved to one of the chairs.
The door opened and Mercury walked inside with her head bowed.
“Greetings to you, Luna.”
I glanced at the table, at the book and pen on it. “Do you have anyone you are currently working for?”
“N_no,” she stammered.
I picked the book and pen and threw it at her. “Write down your full name and where your family is currently.”
She regarded the book for a moment and eventually took it. Then, she started to scribble something down.
I smiled as I watched her. I was able to deceive her too. That was what I wanted to confirm.
“Look up!” I said suddenly.
She hesitated as if debating it. “Is there something you want me to help you with?”
I laughed out. “Look up, Mercury. It's me!”
She looked up finally but her brows were drawn together. “Is it really you? Autumn?”
I nodded quickly. “It's me! I was able to deceive you too, wasn't I?”
She laughed. “Yes. I thought you were the real one!”
I laughed again, stood, and walked closer to her. “Common, get up. From today henceforth, you are one of my own.”
She smiled and stood up. “Thank you so much. But,” her smile soon vanished from her face. “What happened? I heard you were dead. King Xavier killed your parents as well.”
I nodded once. “I was dead for three hours actually. It was staged. The Alpha planned it to find the culprit and I sincerely think we are doing great.”
“Really?” Her eyes brightened up. “I was really scared when I heard the news. Infact, your corpse was fed to the animals. I wasn't able to move closer but some of my friends confirmed it was really you because King Xavier showed the corpse to Alpha Augustine,” she explained.
Really? Xavier had it plan well. No wonder Augustine was still in the palace when I arrived.
“Oh, I have a lot to tell you about Elixir! She works for someone that's against Xavier and he wants to find him or her. Though, I think it's a he.”
Mercury looked at me, confused. “I don't understand.”
I regarded her for a moment and stepped back. “Before we proceed, I need you to answer some questions.”
She nodded once. “Yes, anything.”
“Where does your loyalty lie? You used to serve me but King Xavier is your Alpha.”
“You!” She said quickly without thinking about it. “If you hadn't saved me, I wouldn't even be here.”
“So, can you renounce your pack for my sake? Can you plead to serve me forever instead?”
Mercury regarded me for a moment and when I thought she was going to give me a negative answer, she went on her knees.
“I will serve you, for the rest of my life!” She declared, stood up, and withdrew her knife. She cut herself and looked at me. “I said you shouldn't trust anybody but then I think this is the only way I can make you see how pure my heart is.”
I stared down at the blood in her palm. I knew what she was asking me to do. It was a way of swearing to be sisters forever.
“I've always loved you like mine, Autumn. Even when I finally found my family, I wouldn't have left you if it wasn't for my family. After my father died, I've wanted to return to you because I don't see my life here,” she explained honestly.
I regarded her for a moment, with pity. “I'm so sorry about your father.”
She shook his head briefly. “It's nothing to be serious about,” she muttered, and a dark frown appeared on her face. “I will do anything you need me to do. I promise to be your sister forever and never do anything that will hurt you,” she swore.
I took the knife from her and cut myself slightly. I let the blood drop on her blood. I watched her swallow part of it before I do the same as well.
When I looked back at my hand, it has healed up. I'm healing very fast too.
“Is that fine?” Mercury asked suddenly, as she pocket her knife.
I nodded once and smiled. I can't believe I have someone who is willing to be with me.
I unconsciously pulled her into a bear hug. “Thank you so much, Mercury. I love you so very much.”
She hugged me back. “You know I have always loved you like a sister. You treated me like one anyways. You are the best and you don't deserve all that has happened to you recently.”
I nodded once. I deserve none.
She pulled back suddenly. “So, tell me. Are you planning on leaving?”
I nodded once. “Yes but not yet. There are a lot at stake. My parents are alive.”
Mercury raised her brows amazingly. “They are?”
I nodded once. “But they are somewhere in this palace. I will get them out, with my pack. Then, you can leave with us too.”
She nodded once. “Do you have any plan?”
I nodded as well, a smile tugging at my lips. “Watch this,” I muttered and stared down at her pocket knife.
Suddenly, it was standing in the air, in front of her.
Her eyes widened with shock. “W_what is that?”
I took the knife with one swift movement. “Telekinesis, Mercury. I'm a witch and the most powerful one the world has ever known.”
I could see Mercury trying hard to steady her heavy breathing. “How?” She stammered. “I thought_”
“Yes,” I cut in quickly. “I didn't have a wolf when you were with me but that's not true. I do have a wolf but it just wasn't active. But it will soon be. When she is, I will let you know.”
I saw a ray of hope in her eyes.
“This is great news. With this, you can escape King Xavier’s claw.”
I nodded again. “But not yet. We will not move unless my wolf is fully active. Oh, that reminds me. You were truly right about Elixir. She was a spy.”
She was shocked again. “What!”
“Yes.”
Then, I told her how my father gave me the letter he received, how we compared it and realized it was Elixir.
“I will keep an eye on Elixir.”
“Before that, I have a job for you. I need you to look for my pack members. I need to see them.”
Mercury nodded once. “I will do that!”
