What would make Frederick kneel for me? He has never even knelt for my father. He was always pompous.
“Forgive me, Alpha, for having such a thought,” he muttered, shocking me further. “I will serve you for the rest of my life.”
I was too shocked to say a word.
Jude and Ben went on their knees behind him immediately. “We accept you as our Alpha!” They chorused.
June smiled softly. She seemed impressed by what she was looking at, while I was shocked beyond words.
Frederick looked up at me again. “Is your wolf really active now?”
I nodded once. “My sense of smell is accurate and high, and I'm suddenly healing at a faster rate. I'm certain I'm going to shift soon. I just have to give Riley some time.”
He smiled, and he nodded as if that was what he was hoping to hear.
I released a sigh of relief. I shouldn't keep the elders kneeling for long.
“You should rise.”
They complied.
“So, why do you want to see us? How did you get past the guard to see us?” June asked, concerned.
“It's easy because I'm currently in the palace, and well, with my parents.”
June's eyes widened with shock. “Your parents are alive?”
I nodded once, with a little smile. “They are. And the reason I'm here is to let you know that you guys are leaving here very soon. "Moonlike is going to be re-established, and I promise you that after this, no one will be able to lay their hands on you.” I assured. I looked at them one after the other. “I have a plan.”
Frederick took a step closer. “What's your plan?”
I closed my eyes for a moment as I took a deep breath. “I need a few ladies to replace my maids because, at this moment, I'm the Queen.”
What!
“How?” Jude asked.
“Is the King your mate?” Frederick asked
I looked at Frederick for a moment. Actually, there was no need to lie to them. They will find out sooner or later anyway.
“Yes. Alpha Xavier is my mate.”
A gasp escaped them, except Frederick, who seemed as reserved as always.
“How? How are you going to do this?”
I released a sigh. “Xavier is not actually my mate; he's just my key. He has done his job, and he will be abandoned,” I said seriously.
Jude and Ben exchanged words quietly, but I heard them clearly.
“I will arrange the ladies,” Frederick said suddenly. “What's next?”
I gazed at him again. “I need some men. I need them to spy on some people. I want someone who is very capable. You must not be caught.”
Frederick thought for a moment. “We will get that as well.“ But what is really your plan? Do you plan to fight the King or settle with him?”
“She can't fight the king. He's very powerful,” Jude said suddenly.
“Well, she can do that now that she has the silver wolf,” June responded.
“Then she should kill the Alpha,” Ben concluded.
Frederick looked at me. “What are you doing?”
I cleaned my teeth. I didn't need to think it through. I knew what I was going to do, actually. “I'm going to kill the king for messing with me. I'm going to do that after I've shifted,” I promised.
They all smiled. Only June looked at me with confusion in her eyes. I wonder what she wanted me to do with Xavier. Settle our rift? Who then will pay for the deaths of my pack members?
“Well said, Alpha,” Frederick muttered, and I saw the smile on his face before he looked away. “I will let you know when the people are ready. We will let them know that they have a new Alpha as well.”
“Good.”
June pulled me into another hug. “Thank you for staying alive.”
I patted her slowly. “I'm glad you are as well,” I muttered and pulled back to be able to see her clearly. “Is he_” I stopped almost immediately; the words caught in my throat.
She grinned. “He is fine.”
I gathered my eyebrows. “Do you know who I was asking?”
“Yes! Isn't it Dylan?”
I laughed. “Yes.”
“Yes. He's fine. He's among the guards now. He cried every day then because he thought you were dead.”
I missed him so much. Dylan and I were so close. He has always shown me love.
“I will see him one day, as well as the rest of the pack. But not yet. We have to take the step one at a time,” I informed her.
She nodded several times, a wide smile on her face. “He will be so happy now!”
I'm happy too. I didn't want to think of him all this while. I mean, I lost a lot of people. There was no use in being selfish and thinking about Dylan alone.
“We have to leave now; I can see some guards walking about,” Mercury announced suddenly.
“Ok, we will see later, June.”
Mercury and I stepped out of the hut and hurried back towards the hallway. When we were safely in the hallway, I released a sigh of relief.
I've never been so happy.
We stepped inside my room, and I turned to hug Mercury. She seemed shocked at the action.
“Thank you so much; I really appreciate it,” I said sincerely.
She hugged me back after a few minutes. “I'm so happy I am doing this with you.”
I pulled back to look at her. “You still have more to do. You have to be like the middleman between me and my pack members because I don't want to be seeing them every time. I don't want to arouse suspicion,” I explained myself.
She nodded once, with a smile. “I will do this. Do you know who Elixir works for, by the way?”
I shook my head briefly. "No, but I think we need to find out so we can find out who the mastermind is.”
Even though I have a lot of lists in my head.
Even though I'm not concerned about the safety of Gwen now, I still need to make sure I'm safe since people believe I'm the real Gwen now.
