That makes a lot of sense, though. Still, I'm baffled. No wolf has ever secured the power of seeing vision. It's impossible.
But then I'm a silver wolf that the werewolves have known for the past 2000 years. Impossibility is me!
Besides, there's no harm in getting the facts right.
And there's only one person I can ask from. Rick will know better.
Clad in blue jeans and a white hoodie, I stepped out and moved towards the King's room.
I stepped inside, but Rick wasn't in. Just as I made to leave, my gaze darted at the wall clock.
I found myself frozen for a moment. The wall clock is 4 in the evening. How is that so? I entered the bathroom cubicle a few minutes after 2. How can I be out of it in two hours? Was there a glitch in time?
Because there's no way I would spend two hours in the bathroom cubicle.
“Riley, am I alright?”
Riley seemed to laugh in my head. “We are. The Silver Wolf is the most powerful wolf ever known. It seems like some kind of power is attached to it,” she giggled.
Shocked is an understatement of the feelings coursing through me at this moment.
“I'm a witch, Riley, and I have powers. Are you saying I'm going to have more powers?”
“Yes! You are two souls in a body. You are a powerful witch, and you are also a powerful wolf. Each will have their specific powers.”
I nodded once. I could be right then, but I can't wait to discover my new powers. At least by then, I would have an explanation as to what is really happening with me.
Since Rick isn't here, by the way, I will have to go to his room.
I gave Xavier a last stare before I eventually stepped out of the room. I barely took two steps when Rick showed up from afar. He was walking in this direction.
Good grief.
I moved closer to him.
“I need to ask you a question.“
He raised a brow and waited. “What is it?”
“Well, is there anyone named Lucas? I mean, perhaps there's an Alpha son by that name.”
He thought about it for a moment and slowly shook his head. “There's none.”
I released an exasperated sigh unconsciously. I guess I was just thinking too much about Gwen that my mind is cooking things up.
“Is anything the matter?” Rick asked suddenly, jerking me out of my thoughts.
I looked up at him and shook my head. “Nothing special. I will definitely get back to you if there's anything serious,” I assured.
He nodded once and smiled.
That was the first time he was smiling around me. I moved away nonetheless. I needed to meet with my parents and tell them the good news. They would be so overjoyed.
Though they still won't be able to show their faces until later. But knowing everything was fine will be enough for them for now.
I knocked on the door slightly and waited. The door opened after a few minutes. I knew they were being cautious. Perhaps my plan had gone awry?
“Autumn!” My mom called from afar. It was my father that opened the door.
My smile widened. I couldn't stop it. I was overjoyed that this trouble successfully passed us by.
“The pack?” My father enquired.
I nodded several times. “Everyone is fine now, dad. The Alpha already declared our freedom. We are free to return now.”
Mum smiled and moved nearer to me. “I knew you could do it.”
Father was astonished. “How did it happen?”
I narrated everything that has happened to them.
My father sighed after I was done. “That was so close. So, the Alpha saved your life because you saved his life?”
“More like that!” Mother responded. “So, when are we leaving?”
I shook my head briefly. “Not soon, mom. It's evidently clear there's someone here that wants us dead aside from the Alpha. That's why we need to wait for me to shift before anything else will happen,” I explained.
My father nodded in agreement. “You did great, Autumn. Your decision saved us all. You are indeed a true Alpha.”
My father's words of encouragement were all I needed. It makes me feel very good.
I spent some hours with them, catching up with my mother. I've missed doing that. Recently, I only visited them for a few minutes. This is the first time I would be taking a while.
When I finally stepped out, it was a few minutes after seven. And that was because I was supposed to meet with the moon-like pack.
I walled back to my room with the hope that I would see Mercury. She was supposed to come back to fetch me, by the way.
Fortunately for me, she was waiting by the door. When she sighted me from afar, she raced towards me.
“Autumn, the Elders are ready to see you now.”
I nodded once. “Lead the way then.”
We walked for a while, even after we had successfully left the main palace. We reached a building that was separated from the rest and entered. I hadn't really been in this part of the palace, though.
“Where is this place?”
Mercury looked at me with a wide smile. “It's a moon-like pack new place.”
I was forced to a sudden stop, not by Mercury's statement but by what I was looking at.
There were a lot of people in the room. It looked like they were partying, if I'm not mistaken. It looked like the whole Moon-like pack were the ones in the room.
“Alpha?” A familiar voice called suddenly.
I turned towards the path from where the voice came from. It was Frederick. June was beside him.
“What is happening here?”
“The whole moon-like pack wants to see their new Alpha,” he revealed.
I looked back at my people. Though they had reduced greatly in size because of the massacre.
“Yes. It's time for the Alpha to meet her people,” June chimed in.
I nodded once. There was nothing to be scared of. They are my responsibility now. This was what I had always prepared myself for.
I stepped forward and felt Frederick, and June followed me.
“Behold your Alpha!” Frederick announced it suddenly.
Everyone went quiet and turned towards us. I regarded them for a moment, as if to read their faces. To know if they truly accept me.
Then, I cleared my throat meaningfully. “A lot of you will know me. I am Autumn Brooker. Though I'm sorry and shameful of the disaster that has recently befallen our pack. I realised it was because we had no power. No!” I said quickly. “It was because the moon goddess knew we had no power. So, he made a masterpiece. I am not an omega!” I stopped slightly and watched them again.
The majority had an expressionless face. So, I continued.
“My wolf was merely hidden. But I will tell you something now. My wolf has been activated. I am qualified to lead you, and I promise not to lead you astray. But I will not want you to be shocked that I'm a wolf as well as a witch, from my mother's side. But I must tell you that specific powers are associated with this term. It will help us to fight this war and succeed because that's my only plan.“
I stopped and released a sigh. They were all looking at me, as if silently asking me to say more.
I looked away for a moment; when I looked up, cutlery was standing in the air, directly in front of me. Name them knives, spoons, forks.
I could hear the people gasp as I returned the cutlery.
“Hurray!” Someone started suddenly, but soon someone else joined, and eventually, it was everyone that was chanting.
Yes, I am their Alpha.
