Well, I seemed to have caused that. I was the one that accused her without finding out what had really happened. I caused her wrath, and I must bear the consequences of my actions.
I returned back to the palace when it was an hour to the meeting.
Going out was to stop Rick from talking to me before the truth was forced out of me. I've never hidden anything from him, actually.
When my father suddenly wanted me to sit up when I was seven, he knew everything about it.
But then, this has to happen. Autumn is justified.
Rick was standing in front of my room, probably waiting for me.
"Xavier,” he called when I was close enough.
I signalled some maids to follow me. That would stop him from starting anything again.
My bath was made, and I took delight in letting the maids bathe for me. Even though their touch was suddenly repulsing.
At this period, I shamefully want Autumn to touch me. I ached for her touch like I wanted to set everything right.
It can't be right, though, that I'm in love with Autumn. The one I love is Gwen. Obviously, it was the mate bond. I have never experienced it anyway. Autumn was my first experience.
“Get out!” I yelled suddenly before I could stop myself.
Anger was boiling inside me. It felt like their touch was triggering my every nerve.
I had my eyes closed as the maid exited the room. I will just have to bathe myself.
Just as I stepped out of my bathrobe, I felt the presence of someone. Anger exploded inside me again.
“I said everyone is dism_." I was forced to a sudden stop when those familiar scents engulfed me.
Just then, she walked closer to me, her face etched in a frown. Though I can see now that she has golden hair.
“You dyed your hair?”
She nodded once. “You must have thought I was Gwen.”
I swallowed harder. "Yes, right, since you both smell the same. But I'm not stupid; I know Gwen is not around,” I muttered, turned away, and walked to the closet.
I know I'm acting like I'm angry, but deep down, I was happy to see her in my space. But I would have loved it more if I could hug her.
“You look angry,” she noted.
I unconsciously went through the clothes. “Just thinking about a lot of things.”
“Like the dead maid?”
I nodded once. “It looks like the culprit knew we were coming.”
"Yes, but it won't be bad if we set a trap of ours.”
I turned to look at her. “What do you mean?”
“Elixir. Why can't we use Elixir?”
I gathered my brows as I watched her.
“She's their ear." But then she can only hear whatever we want her to hear, isn't it? We could set a trap for them with that.”
Why haven't I thought of something like that?
I took three steps closer, filling the space between us. I regarded her for a moment before I pulled her into a bear hug.
She stiffened for a moment, but unexpectedly, her arms went around me.
I pulled back to look at her again. “I will see you after the meeting. I have a plan in mind already.”
She nodded slightly, even though what I wanted was for her to smile. Even though it was almost similar to Gwen, it had a different impact on me.
I moved back to the closet and got something to wear.
When I turned around again, she was gone, but I felt a lot calmer.
If I want to really arrest Philip, then I must set a trap top. A trap they would have no choice but to fall into.
I stepped out, clad in a black trouser, a blouse, and a furry cardigan.
Rick was nowhere to be found though, but I don't need him now. We will definitely talk when I'm back.
I was confident as I walked towards the meeting room with my maids and guards.
The door opened, and I stepped inside.
The elders were around, already waiting for me.
They bowed slightly as I walked past them.
I didn't move to my seat, however. I stood in their midst.
“I'm surprised no one is talking about the hunt festival,” I started.
Everyone looked at themselves.
“The hunt festival is in one day, and it's going to hold.”
Augustine cleared his throat briefly. “Yes, that's right. The Hunt festival has been something that the Ocean Howl Pack has been doing even right from the time of your father. Nothing should stop it now.”
“Yes! It must happen!” Cindy supported.
I nodded once. “But it's going to be a bit different this time. The Alphas won't be the only winners. Everyone will participate,” I revealed, shocking them for a moment.
“Having a new thing would in fact make this one a special one, right?” Marcus asked.
Everyone smiled.
“Yes, everyone would look forward to it,” Owen said.
"Yes, but let's hear how it will go this time,” Oliver asked.
I smiled slightly. “Ten men from each pack are to participate. Five ladies from each pack will also participate. It will be differently, though. The winners, no matter how many they are, have a lot of prizes to receive,” I explained.
Murder ensued as everyone started to contribute to it.
“But ten men,” Philip started suddenly, stepping out of his place. "Might be too much?”
“I don't know. Is there any pack that can't provide ten men?”
No one responded.
“Good. Then, it's going to work.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“This is a new one, and it sounds so interesting. I'm sure it's going to work,” Mateo remarked.
“Though, one more thing. Your children are to participate.”
Another murmur ensued.
“But that will be hard, Alpha.” It was Philip that spoke.
I knew he would be the one to talk anyway.
I looked at him. “And why is that so?”
“Most of our children aren't around. Some of them are in the cities, far and abroad.”
I frowned. “The festival is in one day. They can still fly in from anywhere. If_,” I hesitated briefly. "If anyone goes against my order, they will be dealt with according to the rules. I'm sure you still know the consequences of going against the King’s order.”
I asked and waited for an answer. When no one said a word, I continued.
“The pack will be no more. I will make sure I turn everything they own into ashes.” I paused slightly to see who was going to protest. And when no one did, I smiled again. “With that, this meeting has ended!” I muttered and stepped out.
