I was still looking at Gwen. Perhaps this will be my last.
A soft knock at the door jerked me out of my thought. I turned around to look at Rick.
I raised a brow and waited.
“The elders are waiting in the meeting room.”
I nodded once and started out of the house.
This was the right step, the right way. I'm making the right decision. My blood will stop the war so that Ocean Howl pack would be safe.
Rick walked me to the meeting room. He looked very worried but I didn't bother to ask what was on his mind because I was already sure of what he was going to talk about.
Rick doesn't know too much. And he shouldn't. He would make a fine Alpha after I'm gone. I don't even have a heir to take over.
My father worked really hard to retain this position but then, his offspring will soon be off the earth.
It serves him right anyways. This foolish and wicked bloodline should truly be over. Enough was enough.
But then, if I had a chance to come again, I would make a different choice.
No, my number one decision would be rechoosing a father.
‘The Alpha is here!” A voice announced as I walked inside the meeting hall.
Rick stayed back while I moved forward but stopped in front of Augustine.
“I have something urgent to tell you and everyone else,” I started.
They listened, with rapt attention. But then, something tells me Philip already knew what I was about to say.
“We know Alpha Rowan is coming. Is that why you called this meeting?” Ingeus asked.
I nodded once, my gaze still on Augustine. Augustine is going to miss me so much, I bet. But then, I think I'm going to miss him as much.
I've been so distance from him these days eventhough he has always come through for me everytime.
I turned away eventually. “There's something else you all need to know. My Luna is on the verge of death.”
“What!”
“How come?”
“We saw the Luna few minutes ago and she was doing fine. What happened?”
“Yes! What happened to the Luna?”
I scoffed, trying hard to push down the anger suddenly building up inside of me.
“She was poisoned.”
“Poisoned? That's a disaster! If Alpha Rowan finds out, we will surely go to war!” Philip muttered, with concern.
No, that was wrong. I'm not sure he's even worried about the war.
“Then we will go to war because there's nothing else to do,” I told them. “You all should be prepared for it!”
I regarded them for a moment, trying hard to read their expressions.
“We will have another meeting tomorrow morning if at all we will be going to war but then, the Hunt festival feast will be cancelled. I want you to announce the Luna health, ” I finished and stepped out of the meeting room without even waiting to hear more from them.
I have nothing to hear from them.
“Brown should be on his way to my room with Rowan now.”
Rick nodded once. “He should.”
We hastened up, almost running.
We arrived in time, just as Rowan reached my room, with several of his men behind him. I'm sure some would be standing watch in front of the palace.
He came prepared. It was as if someone informed him earlier like I had thought.
“It's so nice to see you again,” I muttered suddenly, drawing his attention to me.
A dark scowl was on his face. “What's so nice about seeing you again? Where is my cousin?”
I smiled and moved closer. “You seem so tense as if you've heard something about your cousin before coming.”
“That's not your problem. Where is my cousin!” He yelled.
Rowan has always been a man that wasn't scared of showing his emotion just like me. We could say we are a bit similar. Maybe that was why we have never gotten along with each other.
I nodded once. “She's inside, waiting for you,” I muttered and started forward, expecting him to follow me.
He signalled for one of his men to follow him. So, we entered with one of his man and Rick.
I walked inside my bedroom and looked up at Rowan. “She has been lying like that for some hours now,” I confessed.
Rowan regarded her for a moment as if he couldn't believe his eyes.
“What have you done to my sister?” He yelled and grabbed me by the collar.
I didn't retaliate.
“Your sister have been missing for over a week now,” I started.
Rowan eyes widened. “What?”
“I tried to look for her secretly but I didn't find her. Today, I saw her in my palace, half conscious,” I explained.
Anger flickered across his face. “What! My sister have been missing all this while!” He let me go suddenly and hurried towards Gwen.
I watched them for a moment.
“Gwen might not wake up. She must have indigested the witch poison,” I explained.
Rowan stared back at me for a moment and II could see the flame coming up on his head.
“You have better pray to the moon goddess or whoever you believe in, Xavier!” He said between clenched teeth. “Because if my sister dies, you will follow her. I will burn the whole of Howl Ocean pack down!” He threatened.
I nodded several times. I didn't need to respond to that actually because I will be dead by this time tomorrow.
“Whatever happens, Rowan. I just want you to know I've tried my best.”
“Nonsense! I've always known you were incapable of protecting her! But she wouldn't listen to me! You act as if you are strong but you are just a weak useless Alpha.”
“I will not tolerate that!” Rick yelled suddenly, moving forward.
But Rowan’s man blocked his path.
Rowan scoffed. “Or what! What will the Ocean Howl Pack do to the Dark Orbs? We are as big as you are, even bigger now. And I promised you that I was going to kill you if you make my sister suffer a bit. Prepare for war now, Xavier! You called for it!”
Yes, I know that and I'm prepared for it.
