What!
Lucas was actually Augustine’s son?
Shock kept me speechless and motionless for a moment.
“H_how?” I was beyond shocked.
Louis regarded me for a moment, a sly smile still on his face. “There are a lot of things you don't know, Autumn,” he said.
The way he calls my name shows how much he knows about me already. I mean, Elixir obviously told him everything.
But why hadn't I thought toward that direction? How would I have expected that Augustine son was also involved? I thought the whole things was a power struggle. Would I have thought this was also a mate issue?
I shook my head for a moment, as confusion clouded my mind. I had a lot of questions to ask him. I needed to know a lot of things even though I had no idea how we were going to escape this.
And this was my fault. I already told the Moon like pack that I would bear the consequences for my actions. But then, it's looking like I'm about to let them down. How could I?
If anything happens to me, there might be no Moon like pack anymore. How can I let that happen? But then, I was still curious.
“When we met beside magic Town, you knew who I was, right?”
Lucas regarded me for another moment and suddenly burst out laughing. “You get that!” He sobered up immediately. “I knew about you immediately. In fact, I merely wanted to see who looks so much like Gwen, the imposter.”
I stared, with eyes gone gobsmacked.
“We were actually the ones being deceived all this while,” Mercury yelled with annoyance.
“You took Gwen then. Did you release her?”
Lucas shook his head briefly. “Did you think I would let my captive go like that?”
Realisation hit in. Lucas didn't let Gwen go. She actually escaped.
“And that'd be all for questions. It's over,” he muttered and stepped back. “Kill them, guys!” He ordered.
The wolves moved closer, soon covering up behind Elixir and Lucas as they walked away.
I turned towards Dylan, who had already shifted. “I'm so sorry for dragging you into this mess.”
Dylan howled and jumped forward.
Mercury was already shifting as well.
But then we are just three compared to them. How do we take them down?
I felt the eyes linger on my eyes for a moment. I've failed everybody. I'm not an Alpha.
I don't even deserve such a position when I can't even think and make the right decision.
The tears were suddenly making my vision blurry, but even in the midst of it, I saw as several wolves jumped on Mercury, almost overpowering her.
I lurched forward suddenly, pulling some trees over them and then pulling it away.
As I was about to rush forward to help Mercury up, I felt a sharp pain course through me. It extended toward my ribcage.
A cry of terror escaped me.
It seemed to be racing towards every part of my body, like it was all on fire.
“Autumn!” a soft voice called out in despair. It sounded far, yet so close.
It felt like I was suddenly shielded as the pain intensified.
Then, I felt my body start to give way. It felt like they were separating. I heard the sounds of bones cracking and breaking.
Another pain shot through me. I fell to the floor, with my arms hugging myself as I screamed again, unable to hold myself.
Suddenly, it felt like I was oblivious to my surroundings. I couldn't see anything; I couldn't hear anything either.
But even at that, I felt Riley jump with excitement.
“You are finally shifting!” she said in my head.
Oh no!
Pain crushed into me, a wall of it.
But then, even in the midst of it, I felt silver fur cover me up.
“What the heck!” Someone muttered from somewhere around me.
“She's shifting! Stop her!” a voice yelled.
At this moment, I could easily see and hear what was happening in my surroundings even though it felt like I was thrown into a certain dimension.
I arched my back as the rest of the transformation took place. My claws were out now, and I could vividly see my silver fur. The clothes started to give way at this point, unable to contain my size anymore.
Several wolves jumped at me, but they couldn't get to me. It felt like a barrier was stopping them.
Eventually, I was suddenly back in the forest, and the pains were gone.
When I looked at myself, I was a big silver wolf, and the barrier was suddenly gone as well.
I looked at the wolves, then at Lucas. A flash of fear flickered across his face.
“What the heck! She's the silver wolf!” Lucas yelled.
“How can that be? The silver wolf had been lost for thousands of years,“ Elixir muttered beside him.
Lucas took a retreating step back. “Get her and kill her!” he ordered.
I stretched out in the air and howled into the night. My voice sounded like water, just as Xavier's emanated lightning and thunder.
Then, I leapt up and marvelled instantly at how easy it was for me to do.
I seemed faster and stronger. I easily leapt higher than the wolves. Everything felt easy-peasy to me.
I easily took one of the wolves and hit it against a tree effortlessly. It merely felt like I was holding a baby wolf.
I jumped on one of them and watched it struggle under me.
I caught another easily and dug into its heart. I brought out its heart and watched it give up.
From the corner of my eye, I could see Dylan and Mercury, who had already morphed back into humans, watching me with shock.
The wolves were all focused on me now, and none of them were fighting them.
But within a few minutes, several wolves were on the floor already.
Yet, I wasn't tired. I felt strength coursed through me. It merely felt like I hadn't used a quarter percentage of the strength I possessed.
I broke the last wolf head and looked up. I knew where Lucas was headed. In fact, I could still scent him and Elixir.
I jumped up and lurched forward.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Dylan and Mercury follow me.
But I was racing through the forest with so much speed I could barely see my paw move.
The Silver Wolf has been born!
