Graham POV
“Why the hell are the Werewolves looking as if their lives were sucked out of them, huh?” I asked Henris who stood by my side.
“The Gamma is going around and trying to find what could have gone wrong,” he tried to explain himself, but I wanted to avoid hearing him out. I shut him up and focused on the news headline talking about my engagement, which hasn’t happened yet with Lord Jared’s daughter.
“I am not interested in this marriage. You said you’ll fix things and let Tristan be on this, but look at this….” I showed him the headlines on my phone. “Everyone is talking about it, which is totally annoying!” I shouted at him.
I had been in my office having a mind-blowing s*x with Brenda when Henris walked in on us. Aaron was annoyed and had tried to choke Henris’s throat, but I was quick to intervene and took control over my body. If not for me, then Henris would have been dead.
“Next time, you knock and don’t walk in on Aaron.” I had told him that, and he nodded in response.
When we arrived at the border, I met Tristan, my gamma and a few of the Royal cops at the scene. They surrounded two bodies and when I saw the state they were in, I knew someone was behind it. The Werewolves had their lives completely drained, and they were pale with black lips. “What could be the cause of their death?”
“I believe it poisoning, your highness,” Tristan had explained me to me.
“Find whatever is going on with them before Friday,” I gave him two days to find why the Werewolves were attacked.
“What if it were the humans?” Henris asked me as we both entered into the car, leaving the border for Tristan and the Royal cops who were still looking around hoping to find the reasons behind the Werewolves death.
When he mentioned the humans, my mind went to Celia and I thought about what she could be doing. I had sent her to other slaves to give her the worst treatment, hoping that she’ll change her mind towards me. I had expected her to come bow her head in front of me but, it’s being three days and I haven’t seen her, which made me wondered how she was doing.
“Seeing how you are lost in thought, you must be thinking about that human,” Henris smiled at me.
I frowned at his remarks and pretend to be on my phone. I haven’t told him about how Celia was my mate yet. I didn’t want to know anything about how I was feeling at that moment. Nobody needs to know that she was my mate. I planned on not letting anyone know until Aaron finally leave my body and I let go of her.
“You can ignore me for all I care, but I know you like her and….”
I turned to face him with a frown on my face, and he quickly averted his eyes and faced the other side of the car. “I am sorry, your highness,” he said.
Ignoring him, I continue staring at my phone, but my mind wasn’t there, instead I was still thinking about my mate and I wanted to see her badly. I could believe that I couldn’t take her off my mind.
“It is a good thing that you are thinking about her?” Aaron laughed in my head. “Seeing as you are like this, I hope you change your mind as fast as you can,” he laughed.
“Shut up,” I shouted at him. “Whatever is going on your mind is absolutely not what I am thinking,” I told him, but instead of replying, he continued to laugh. Because I didn’t want to hear his annoying voice again, I blocked him out and focused on my phone.
My body was suddenly jerked forward, and I hit my head against the front seat. The phone in my hand fell and something hit the roof of the car, making a loud noise. I groaned in pain as I raised my head to face Henris. “What the hell was that?” I asked the driver and the bodyguard at the front. “What did you hit?”
“I believed it someone, your highness,”The driver answered.
I heaved a sigh and rubbed my forehead. I didn’t care that they had almost hit someone because all I could think of was myself. Even though I was the strong Alpha king, I hate pains that’ll last for a few seconds. “Check out…” I stopped talking when I felt my headache as if some were slicing my brains out. I touched my head and I thought it would end, but it only became words. I screamed out loud when I felt my stomach hurting too.
“Your highness,” Henris called out my name. “Are you alright?”
I shook my head in response. It wasn’t clear to me why I was suddenly attacked. I was not the type to feel pain unless if it was from her. “Celia!” I shouted her name.
“Celia?” Henris sounded surprised by the sound of my tone. He stared at me and I saw a flash of surprise in his eyes. He had figured me out, but I wasn’t ready for the conversation.
When the pain had subside, I got out of the car. We were already near the Royal mansion and I didn’t wait to hear what Henris had to say as I rushed towards the gate, but then I saw Alistair, my friend, running towards me. “Alistair!” I called his name, but he ran past Me to the back of the car. I followed him and almost shouted her name when I saw her laying in her pool of blood. “Celia,” I whispered her name.
Right in front in front of me, Alistair carried her into his arms. “We need to take her to the hospital!” He shouted at me.
“Hand her over to me,” I ordered him.
He looked taken back by my reaction, but I didn’t care. He was holding my mate in his arms, and I didn’t like the way he held her.
Alistair eyed me suspiciously, but handed her over to me. When she was in my arms, I remove her hair from her face as it was covered in blood. I carried her into the back seat of the car and beckoned to Henris. “Start the car and take us to the hospital!” I ordered him.
Henris nodded in response and took the wheel from the driver who had hit Celia. “I am sorry your highness,” The driver tried to apologize, but I already shut the car door on his face. Henris started the car and turned the car around, heading towards the Royal hospital.
“Do you have anything to say to me, your highness?” Henris asked.
I ignore him and continued staring at Celia’s face. I could hear her heartbeat, but it was faint. She was slowly dying, and her blood continued to pull out like a river. “Drive faster!” I shouted at Henris.
He stared at me through the mirror and answered with a yes as he increased the speed of the car.
“You should have been with her!” Monster, my wolf, was sad when he saw Celia in her pool of blood. He started growling in my head the moment I was hit by the sudden pain.
“His attitude would lead to her demise!” Aaron shouted in my head. “Because he is so foolish, he is about to jeopardize everything that I have planned!”
“Both of should just shut up!” I didn’t realize that I said that aloud until I felt the car stopped in front of a skyscraper.
“We are here, your highness,” he announced.
I opened the car door and carried Celia out. “Make the announcement to them that I am here!” I told him and he nodded in response. I walked faster as I carried Celia into the hospital. When I walked into the lobby, there was a stretcher already waiting with two attendant. The rest of the staff bowed their heads and greeted me, but I ignored them all and focused on Celia whose eyes were starting to open.
“Celia.” I grabbed her hand.
“We will take it from here, your highness,” The doctors in attendant announced as they pushed her into the operation unit. I stopped when the doors closed.
“This is all my fault,” I muttered under my breath and stared at the door, hoping that Celia would walk out of it and argue with me like she used to. Even though she was a human who I hated so much, I didn’t want her to die yet. If only she was a werewolf, then it wouldn’t be so hard for her because she could easily heal by herself.
“She is your mate, isn’t she?” Henris’s voice sounded behind me. I pretended I didn’t hear him and continued pacing around. “I understand if you would rather not tell me, but I want you to remember that she is a human and…”
“Enough!” I shouted at him. I knew what he wanted to say, and that was telling me that she wouldn’t be accepted. I didn’t want to hear it at that moment because I had almost lost my mate. “Whatever you have to say should be known to you alone,” I told him.
“I apologize, your highness. I was only looking out for you,” he told me, but I wasn’t concerned with what he had to say. I just needed Celia to be fine because her death would break me and make me weak.
I wasn’t going to become a weak king because of a sassy woman who turned out to be my mate. “I am not a child that you’ll look out for me!” I said and bowed his head.
“Yes your highness.”
