‘’Great,’’ I said to Henris after getting the information that I needed from him. It was all a plan to remove Celia from the position of the noble consort because she was in the way of possible assassination but she doesn’t realize and I could see the shock in her eyes when I announced that she was out of the contestant.
I could feel the heat radiating from her when I announced to her that she was out. ‘’make sure you protect her at all times, Henris. The assassin would soon attack and by that time, maybe you wouldn’t find out about it.’’
‘’Alright, your highness,’’ he said and lowered his head. As he turned to leave the office, I heard someone shouting at the entrance of the office, and no one needed to tell me that it was Celia.
‘’I will go check it out,’’ Henris said and I nodded in response.
‘’let her in,’’ I told him and he answered with a nod. As he walked towards the entrance, I adjusted myself to my seat. When I heard the door opening, I cleared my throat.
‘’I must say that you are acting overprotective,’’ Aaron said and tutted. ‘’Don’t you realize that you are turning weak with this attitude of yours and sooner or later, you will become weak!’’ he said.
‘’no,’’ I answered. ‘’There is no way I am going to become weak because of a woman,’’ I told him and he sighed.
‘’keep telling yourself that and before you realize it, you will find out that she will become your top priority!’’
‘’shut up!’’ I slammed my hand on the table. ‘’There is no way I am never allowing her to get close to me!’’ I chuckled. ‘’you must think lowly of me,’’ I said to Aaron and rubbed my forehead. ‘’no woman is ever going to make my heart flutter!’’ I confidently let him understand that no one could change my past beliefs.
No woman was ever going to make me weak.
‘’But you can’t afford to see her getting hurt right?’’ Aaron asked. ‘’isn’t that what someone who is in love does huh?’’
What a crazy way for him to put it like that. Just as I was about to reply to him, the door barged open and Celia came storming In. ‘’how dare you?’’ she pushed past Henris and walked towards me. ‘’how could you do this to me after everything we’ve shared?’’
Shared? All I did was told her about my past and f**k her. There was nothing else that was special about what we had so I have no idea why she made it sound as if she did something for me.
‘’your highness, should I order her out?’’ Henris asked but I shook my head in response.
‘’you may leave!’’ I ordered him. Without arguing, he walked out of the office while I was left alone with Celia who looked as if she was about to kill me.
‘’what did I do so wrong to make you remove me from the candidates!’’ she slammed her hand on the table.
If only she knew, I thought as I stared at her. She had no idea why I had to do that but I wasn’t going to tell her my reasons because it would only scare her and I didn’t want. Until I found who the assassin was, I was not going to inform her about the plot against her. When Henris informed me about it before the second exam started, I ignored it until he mind-linked me yet again about it. Because I was trying to save her life, I had to stop the exam with everything that I had.
‘’you’ve said before that you don’t want to be a part of the candidate so why are you so mad that I removed you from the list huh?’’ I asked her hoping that she would give up after hearing that and back down from trying to be the noble consort.
‘’That was before that night,’’ she said and rubbed her forehead. ‘’I thought that you telling me about your past meant something!’’
I chuckled even though it wasn’t funny, under the table, I clenched my fists because I hated the sound of her voice. They were filled with anguish and disappointment.
‘’I said it didn’t I?’’ Aaron laughed. ‘’you have a weakness now Graham!’’
I ignored him and looked up at Celia. ‘’you don’t have to be a noble consort any longer and just continue being a human. I could even free you since it’s what you….’’
She slammed her hand on the table. ‘’no!’’ she yelled at me. ‘’I don’t want any of that. I want you!’’ she declared. ‘’I want to be with you because I thought we had something special!’’
‘’something special?’’ I chuckled and placed my hands on the table. ‘’if f*****g you means something special then I must say that you are dumber than I thought. How could you even think that someone like me who is the alpha king would feel something for someone like you who is nothing but a mere slave to me!’’ I laughed and slammed my hand on the table. ‘’Don’t be stupid Celia!’’ I shouted at her and pointed outside the office. ‘’if you are done arguing then leave because I don’t want to see your face!’’ I told her and turned my chair around.
‘’so, this is right?’’ her voice shook terribly and she I could hear the pain in her tone. ‘’why do you make me feel things and then pretend as if you didn’t care!’
‘’Because I don’t,’’ I lied and closed my eyes. ‘’you should know better that I can never be with a human. After all, it was you all who started the war!’’ I muttered.
Celia didn’t say a word after then and it made me wonder if she had left but I could feel her presence meaning she was still around me and probably thinking of the perfect way to kill me in my sleep. ‘’I…….’’ she finally spoke after a moment of silence. ‘’you are the most conceited person I have ever met in my entire life!’’ she shouted and rushed out of the door slamming the door pretty loud on her way out.
‘’That was fun to watch but I expected more screams other than that, ’’Aaron commented in a bored tone but I ignored him because I was not in the right mood to give him a suitable answer.
Celia might hate me now for what happened but, I know that I did what was best to save her life. If only she knew the pains I had to go through.
