                    Graham POV
‘’We are all gathered for the burial of the late concubine Brenda of the alpha king. She had died untimely and she is hereby laid to rest in the ways of the werewolves,’’ I stood in a corner with Henris as they laid Brenda to rest. I refused to show myself to anyone because it was against the tradition especially since she was a concubine. Showing up at her burial shows that she was being disrespectful to me even in her death. To make sure she had a great rest, I buried her in the werewolf’s way rather than the humans’ way where she would be buried as a no-name human.
The question that baffles my mind was on who could have killed Brenda and made her die so suddenly. Her annoying voice resounded in my head as she was laid six feet under the ground. Her death was shocking for even me who was a werewolf king. Who could have killed her and why? Brenda was free-spirited even though I hated her guts. She was not the type to get in trouble, unlike Celia who loves to run her mouth.
‘’Have you found anything connected to her death?’’ I asked Henris who stood opposite me.
‘’she was given a fast poison that kills in the blink of an eye. I can assure you that she was killed because of a grudge. The killer was not smart enough and had used the poison hoping that it would get rid of her but she left trails and my men are on it at the moment,’’ Henris informed me and I nodded in response even though I was confused about his whole plans.
‘’she was a great f**k and I thought that after I am separated from you that I could find a way to make her mine,’’ Aaron lamented.
‘’Get out of my head,’’ I shouted at him but I was ignored by him. ‘’she might have been a great f**k to you she was a free-spirited girl and I hated that she had to die because of me,’’ I told him.
‘’How is it because of you?’’ he asked and I heaved a sigh when I thought about what Henris had told me on the day of the third test for the candidates.
‘’someone is plotting against Celia,’’ I could clearly remember his words even though they were not convincible, whosoever killed Brenda was going to after someone else and it could be Celia or another candidate.
‘’you cared about the dead s*x slave?’’ Aaron asked in a teasing tone but I shut him up by yelling at him.
‘’shut your mouth,’’ I told him and rubbed my palms together. ‘’Her death could have been avoided if I had announced Celia as the new noble consort.’’
Aaron laughed and tutted. ‘’That is your great idea?’’ he asked and when I didn’t reply to him, he continued. ‘’if you are blaming yourself because of something as stupid as that then I must say that you are not only stupid but also crazy Graham!’’ he yelled at me.
‘’Don’t you…….’’ I tried to warn him but he cut me off.
‘’if you think clearly about it then you will realize that you saved Celia from being the target of the attacks,’’ As soon as he mentioned Celia, my thoughts went over to her, and maybe he was right. The assailant would have gone for Celia instead. As much as I didn’t want the whole world to know about my relationship with Celia, I would never hope to see her dead. It would break my wolf and also do the same to me.
‘’The assailant is plotting more and doesn’t be surprised if something happens out of the ordinary,’’ Aaron said and it was the first time I had ever heard them speak out of his humorous state.
‘’your highness,’’ Henris waved in my face breaking me out of my inner conversation with Aaron.
‘’what is happening?’’ I asked him and looked behind him. The priest had told the prayers and people were already retreating. ‘’let’s leave this place,’’ I told Rotimi and he nodded in response but made no attempt to leave. His attitude shocked me and I wondered he suddenly stopped without moving further. ‘’what is going on?’’ I asked him.
‘’My men already find the trails of the poison,’’ he announced and I nodded to his information as I was glad that the assailant but his next words made me frown. ‘’The poison was found in lady Celia’s room,’’ he announced.
‘’out of the ordinary,’’ Aaron muttered and scoffed. ‘’I told you,’’ he said.
‘’Celia?’’ I asked Henris ignoring Aaron’s words because I knew that he was right. If his assumptions were right then the assailant had implicated Celia and tried to put the fault on her.
‘’yes, your highness,’’ Henris answered and pointed forward. ‘’let’s move now your highness,’’ he said and looked behind him. I already understood what he was trying to say so I didn’t bother asking and started moving until we reached my black tesla. Once we were seated inside, I closed my eyes and tried to think about the assailant’s next movement.
‘’where should we go your highness?’’ Henris asked but I ignored him as I was focused on finding out about the assailant. Since Celia was implicated, it means that the assailant was after something, and just like Aaron had said, it was going to be out of the ordinary.
‘’Celia,’’ I muttered her name and opened my eyes. ‘’take me to the royal hospital,’’ I ordered the driver.
‘’your highness,’’ Henris said. ‘’that is where Celia is.’’
‘’yes,’’ I heaved a sigh. ‘’we need to get there fast because the assailant is definitely on the move and Celia could be its next victim,’’ I told him.
‘’But….’’ Rotimi tried to argue. ‘’the poison was found in her belongings.
‘’yes,’’ I replied to him. ‘’That is what the assailant is making us believe so that he can go after Celia.’’ And I was going to catch him.
